I would definitely trade my z fold 35g for this as the z fold 4/5 has no s pen slot as well as dust resistant, there's no way I'd hand over a large amount for the z fold 5, this z roll has everything to last for a long time...
I like the concept, but the phone should be a ticker and the name shouldn't be "Roll". Roll is something that rolls, turns on its Axis, not slides... English in Asia was always an issue.
@Robert, I think the only thing they could do is make a case for the size that it is when it's not rolled out. That people would only need the phone protected while it's being carried as a phone. When people would only be using it in "tablet like" mode they would be seated, and not need the same protection. As it would be laying on a flat surface. Just a thought on my part 🤔

Samsung I don't know about calling it Galaxy Z Roll. I owe the Flip and the phone FLIPS just like the Fold it FOLDS, I did not see it ROLL. I saw it EXPAND but not roll. All other features seems COOL seeing how it pretty much turns into a Laptop.
The square screen orientation is not good, same as z fold, specially for videos. Z fold only display the video almost around at s22 ultra size (wide) and the rest is just becomes black bars. The only way these phablets are gonna be more successful if they make it the unfolded as wide as possible, close to 16:9 atleast. I really love these unfold or roller type of screen idea where phone screen becomes tablet like and i am waiting for the 2 way fold (Samsung flex s) type of thing that samnsung showed as a demo.
Totally agree, I sent back a fold 4 that was seriously impressive for the same reason (and all 3 other folds for slightly different reasosns), kept and still have my Note 20 Ultra 5g which is the same size for videos with bars and not far off as good albeit I only have high refresh rate on lower res 1080p.
