    I was in a straight leg brace for 6 months following a LCL and PCL injury. I wish I had seen this video beforehand because even though I live in an ADA accessible apartment and have a roll in shower with a 1 inch lip, transferring was so unsafe I fell three times during that time and it was awful because I couldn’t find a way to keep my brace dry so I just took it off and tried to hold my leg straight. It was horrible but now I know if there’s a next time what to do!

    Thumbs up. Thanks for the great video! I just tried with my scrapped knee and it worked absolutely nice. Just to add on: the resting stool inside the tub can be of a higher stool for those with ability to bend there knee (minor injuries or some cast with L shapes). When the stool is higher, water will go down towards the sitting area and it will keep the affected leg completely dry.

    I have a knee brace after knee surgery. Instead of a large bag I just wrapped my leg with a sheet of plastic that is about 3 feet by 4 feet. I used some blue painters tape to hold the end of the plastic in place. It peals off easily. Then I used the wide rubber band as you suggested to wrap and seal the top edge. With the bottom open my foot on the injured leg still gets a shower. It works well. Thanks for the idea.

    I just got out of my immobilizer, I had it on for about 10 days, I still don't have a lot of ROM in my knee. Ortho sent me home saying to keep the immobilizer on at all times except when showering, not accounting for the trauma with taking it off less than 48 hours after a first complete patellar dislocation with a failed reduction. Using the crutches have been tough for me. I hurt my right leg and my left leg is naturally weaker and more unsteady - so trying to balance on it (even with crutches) is the worst for me. I almost fall daily if I use the crutches. I've been getting around a wheelchair until I'm 2 weeks out post op in order to use the kneerover. I'm hoping this will help me bit a bit more independent.

    • @LuisPerdomo7
      @LuisPerdomo7 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@zwill7934 Oh man Z, sorry to hear, it's an unpleasant experience all the way through but you'll get through it! Surgery is honestly the easy part, depending on what the surgeon's strategy is, basically they will suture the tendon and then suture through the patella tying everything up. Not gonna lie the first few days are rough, I did the nerve blocker and glad I did, once it wore off the pain was awful but the prescriptions helped pretty quickly. You will be prescrived percoset as well as baby aspirin regimen to avoid clots and stool softneres to avoid opiate induced constipation. You wont need pain killers after 3-4 days. The first 4 weeks post op in my opinion were the toughest cause you have to keep the knee fully immobilized. I'm 6'3 so no driving, stairs are a pain in the butt, one step at a time, which will honestly become the norm early in recovery. Doc wil clear you for PT between 4-6 weeks in, where they will start working on getting the range of motion back. Getting the range will seem slow at first but you'll get it pretty quick after a few weeks of PT. 2-3 Months post op you gonna start working on strengtht building. I wont lie I had a lot of quad and calve atrophy and still do now about 3 months post op. 3 months post op for me, doing PT 3x a week got full range of motion and working on strenght, leg press, one legged stuff. Can walk without a brace but can only do close chain stuff. No jumping, running, etc. If you have any specific questions feel free to ask, but honestly sucky sucky injury but just like everything, keep trucking keep your spirits up, the body will heal and soon you will be doing all your normal activities. Find yourself a good PT that does a lot of manual stuff, grasting, massage etc. Get that range back, reduce scar tissue and inflammation. Be gentle at first, take it easy and also be easy on yourself, its a marathon not a sprint. This is not an injury where you can push things, everything comes with time.
