    I'm all for the no camera law. I currently use cameras, but I feel the quality of deer and the quality of the hunt would go up.

    I’m relatively new to hunting. I’m in my 3rd season, and at first I had no issues with the cell cams even though I personally would never use them. In the past 2 seasons I’ve seen it explode and become such a crutch for other hunters that I had a guy ride up on me on an ATV while I was in my tree because he saw me walk by his cam an hour earlier. The woods are covered in them. People will say to use the cams to tell me where the pressure is, but at this rate I’ll be hunting the parking lot 😂

    I think a good compromise would be to ban the cell cameras altogether. And all cameras must be removed one week before the season opens

    It sounds like trail cameras violated an existing law in Iowa - that hunters simply ignored. I hunt Wisconsin public land and I follow the game laws to the letter. A lot of "hunters" do not. I see stands and blinds left in year round, when they are supposed to be removed after the season ends. Screw in tree steps and bow hangers - that are illegal on public land - left in the tree. Trail cameras that don't have the owners name and number on them. I am not surprised that people want to keep using trail cameras - it is one of the few things that puts them on near equal footing with a super smart old buck.

    I spent a year in Wapello Iowa and shot a buck on the first night of deer season back in 2002! Being from New England, I was amazed at the size of the bucks in Iowa! Not being able to use a rifle is one reason I would imagine! I hunted next to the Iowa river! The people were awesome! I hope to go back one day!

    Keep in mind most of the Pope and Young and Boone Crockett bucks were killed prior to the gadgets we have now. I have never understood the need for cameras to hunt. I use them to get inventory but never hunt based on photos. Too many guys chasing photos rather than actual deer based on sign and hunting knowledge. A picture of a deer is like a grain of sand on a beach. On the flip side, too many guys are not hunting because there are no big buck pictures when the big bucks are there but just not on film. Nothing can replace feet on the ground with actual experienced knowledge performing hunting activities.,,,,not cameras, bow types, broadhead types, arrow types, tree stand types, scent blockers, seeded kill plots, or any other costly gadgets. Most guys don't realize that the gadgets are nothing more than the revenue source for "the professional hunters" that they follow. No one makes money hunting. The gadgets pay the hunting influencers, so buyer beware if you think it is going to replace the actual hunting experience. I support the idea of machinists, tech people, etc who promote hunting in the hunting industry and support their income to do so with their other talents and abilities, but I don't confuse it with actual hunting. Too many guys caught up in the claims around products to kill big bucks.

    People from Iowa.. 6000 non res tags a year. KS sells 21k. Illinois, unlimited. Missouri, unlimited. Now, all the landowners there, who flood public with cell cams, won't have a ton of advantage over a true NR. Some but it helps level the field more for all NR hunters. Alot of guys complaining better be learning to hunt. Can't just flood all public with cams and then go hunt that giant anymore. Cell cams tell you exactly When he's there. That's when you go hunt. Don't seem like hunting. How you think these guys have had their best years ever, since cell cams was a thing? Be interesting to see the success rate of folks after the next 10 years, of BC bucks from public lands.

    When I bowhunted in the ‘70s, ‘80s and ‘90s, before cameras, I was a much better HUNTER. Since I started using cameras, I don’t have to be anywhere near as good of a hunter as I used to be, but I’m much more successful in killing bigger bucks.

    • @tyfode224
      @tyfode224 13 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I started bow hunting in the late 80's and rarely seen another bow hunter. Now it's so popular it's hard to find spots not being hunted! Finding a shooter buck is what I use my cameras for and I scout all year. I think to be fair cameras should only be used in the off season. I don't need them to kill a big one but I sure love all the photos I get from all the other wildlife as well!

  • @davetoms63

    I said it years ago, if hunters dont lear to regulate themselves THE PUBLIC would. Weve went from 50% letoff to crossbows... now you are seeing OTC tags dissappear, bow seasons being cut into with muzzleloader season, governor tags, youth gun seasons, etc.....
    And for anyone saying that crossbows have brought new hunter #s thats a crock of crap. Hunter #s are down all over its just now gun hunters are bowhunting with crossbows. Nothing against them for disabled but not for general use in ARCHERY season.
    The only thing I dont agree with if we limit equipment it should be for both public and private. You cant spotlight in most states and it goes for both public and private so it should be the same for baiting, caneras, etc..... wildlife belongs to the state not landowners.
    We are destroying hunting, just go knock on doors anymore and public is farvand away more crowded nowdays.

      With the greatest respect, this video highlights 3 hunters who came from a time when tech was completely absent from the scene and success hinged on one’s ability to “read” the woods. Back then, the ones who became known for consistent success were also the ones who spent more out of season hours scouting, glassing and bettering thier ability to read sign, all of which have now been substituted for mind boggling tech that discourages the boots on the ground learning curve of traditional hunting practice. All to say, you’re right. They talk like “great hunters”… who’ve earned thier rankings in the food chain. To add, Dan, graciously, by way of You Tube, now spends his efforts passing on the knowledge by helping the next generation learn to hunt on wits and not on reliance of tech.
      Remember, hunt smart, not hard.
      Have a great day!
