What separates Dan from most deer vids is he tells you how much hard that is involved, but he's always positive in tough situations.👍
I like your practical approach to deer hunting. It amazes me how much money people spend to buy un-needed gadgets and gizmos to carry into a hunt to help them kill a big buck, but have little to no understanding on deer and human behavior, wind advantage set ups, etc. A hunting license, bow, arrows with good sharp broadheads, a mobile tree stand with 2-3 climbing sticks, a pair of good boots, and some warm clothing is enough to kill big bucks with actual proven on the ground experience pre, during and post hunting season. Thank you for sharing your experience without gagging the audience with all the useless high dollar products in your videos like others do Dan!
The plant the deer is eating is called jewel weed. You'll see that plant anywhere there is poison ivy around. The liquid stuff you get from the stems is used to put on skin when you contact poison ivy.
That’s good to know… thanks
Also called touch me not.
That happened to me this year Dan, I hunted a spot in late December (just after Christmas) I hunted a tree just off this bedding area across a creek and a nice 10 pointer chased these 2 doe’s off the creek line and out into a pasture on the same side as me, if the doe’s would’ve followed the creek I was gonna get a shot, so the next evening I planned to push up the creek further, but I cut the bucks track in the snow and it lead straight to my previous tree and then back across the road to the private, I continued with my plan and shot a younger buck 4 days before the end of the season to fill my first archery tag, it was a good learning experience!
Perty cool clip of you and Dave on the recovery of The Rome Legend video 👊💯
Been listening to Dan's swamp tactics for years now. As a hunter in Georgia the big issue I have with the deep swamps especially in the dark is Hogs and Poisonous snakes...
If your in Georgia I suggest you hunt with a buddy and wear snake boots or chaps I lived in Georgia for 22 yrs and I never hunted because I never had a buddy don’t want to get bit by a snake one 1 mile deep 🫡
I really enjoyed this seminar, great discussion and questions asked. Edited very well for content. Great job guys!
Beast man you know I'll watch this one another 50 times or so🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲
How many people do what Dan does! This man has given his life to hunting. It’s just impressive.
Just got back from a scouting walk on a local chunk of state land and the only reason I did it today was because its going to rain this afternoon and will wash out my sent... I've been doing this before the Internet LoL
I have since i've retired, before that I was like the rest of you, hunt when I have free time. Retired, I hunt or scout everyday.
finally an expert whitetail hunter explaining how to quietly setup...took me 2 seasons to grasp the concept lol
Good stuff Dan just proves a Big Bucks core area is relatively small during daylight , most of the year But pre rut and rut is a completely different animal I think that smaller area has to do with safety and knowledge gained through positive experience of the bucks core area . Hence the reason bucks return to favorite bedding areas year after year 😁You deserve a Masters Degree in BIG Bucks
2 hours! Yessss 🦌 🏹
Love your channel! So much good information with out all the fancy gimmicks. Learned a lot from you plus agree on many fronts have learned on my own. Keep up great content and keeping it real
Looking good so far. 🏹🦌
At the beginning of the video, so obvious you're a stone cold killer. Everybody else has got long sleeves or sweatshirts. Not Dan. Lol. Like I said before dude, you're one of the best. God gifted us all something. He gifted you.
You have a passion for wanting to teach. You have a boatload to offer.
I look forward to learning more from you, and watching you transform more into your passion for teaching. As always, appreciate your input, thoughts, experience, madness and effort. Thanks teach!!😊
Always great stories Dan
Excellent, thanks for this one, Dan.
Me personally I would never intentionally let my scent blow into any area where deer may be I’ve seen things end badly that way
Thumbs up 👍great job.
HUNTIN BEAST!!!🦌🦌🦌🦌🦌🦌
Oh yeah!
Great video buddy I use alot of your tactics helps me a lot killed a 171 last season I am hunting a 190 to 200 inch buck this year on public in a marsh didn't see him bow hunting or gun season but seen him duck hunting and after season twice. Looking for his sheds now .
Send me a pin please
I’ve been hunting a spot for a couple years now and finally just killed a good one. But I still haven’t really found that bedding spot and I’ve shed hunted now for a couple years and I’m starting to think. It is impossible to get into the bedding spot because it’s so thick and the bucks no its to thick for humans because they never see or smell humans in there. So you basically have to sit in the funnels and high points and rut hunt the doe bedding. Some stuff is just so thick it’s impossible to not sound like an elephant coming through the woods. Let alone try to set a stand to
Some areas its certainly easier than others. But usually you can find a way if you determined and you scouted and found the bedding areas. But for the most part its not an easy way to hunt at all. It takes a lot of work and effort and it takes the type of person who enjoys the work and wants the reward bad enough to do it.
@@thehuntingbeast thanks I’m always learning from you. That’s how I got the buck I got this year. It wasn’t a bed buck. It was a rut buck in doe bedding but I still walked 2 miles back to get there it wasn’t easy. Some other guys around me to don’t go as far back, so I try to get in and out little bit secretly, but Sometimes I see them walking out and they ask where I was and I never tell them lol. But I no where the bedding is at. Just tough to get in there. Got prob 120 inch buck this year but the big ones I never got. Almost wish I could just show you this spot. It’s just a really big wooded area some swamps fields brush valleys everything basically. It’s south west pa. Like a 6 thousand acre piece. It’s actually posted but yout allowed to hunt it but not a lot of people no that. But they are catching on pretty quick so idk. Might be that every four year cycle people move in and out
Any chance you could do something similar with farm land Dan?
Jewel weed.
Yep... passed the "fact check" good job Dan.
Number 6👍🏻
Bump and dump
Thank you! This is great
Nice!
Happy spring dan
Damn, you were young once!😂
Do you still get that excited? Say for instance, like when you run across one like that?
I still do.
I’m wondering how many of these googans try to drop pins on dans spots and come back n hunt!
He said guys have found his exact trees before and snaked the spot. I couldn't imagine doing that to someone.
@@gordonneverdies smh 🤦🏻♂️ unreal!
They are the same guy that will ask what river did that steel head or salmon come from....I won't tell anyone I promise.
It's jewel weed
