This was my parents' wedding song in 1983. They were at Live Aid in 1985. My mother died in 2018, aged 61, and it came on the radio when she was unconscious in intensive care, just a couple of days before they switched off the ventilator. Hope she heard it! It'll always make me think of her. Love you mum! x
RIP ❤
Me emocioné. Un abrazo desde Chile
We all LOVE YOU, Karen... And that is TRUE!!!
God bless you
RIP. So sorry for your loss
The music of the 80s is so good that it almost makes you cry that those times and the music is no longer live.
i thought the same
This takes me back to 1985: Sitting in front of the TV with a tape recorder, motioning for the rest of my family to shush so I could get as clean a recording as possible. ☺️
I did that too.
Amazing how those times have changed. Stunning song.
I did it too, just for me because my parents weren't interested by this concert.
Lol same…💓
Saw them with Duran Duran, a concert I did not even want to go to but took my wifes little sister, how wrong I was.
Great vocals! Not enough credit is given, hell of a singer!!!!
Live Aid was the best day ever. I was 35
Hello Jennifer,
How're you doing?
Thanks for all your love and support, also for being an amazing fan.
It's nice meeting you here
Gosh how times have changed. Music is so not music like this. This made you feel have hope for a better day. I loved life in the 80's. I was filled with hope wishes and promise. 35 years looking back wondering what happened to that person that time the music the world? I love this song it almost to deep to listen to for me. 2020/ 2021 has been the worst years in my life. Why can't we all be real and care and be compassionate and love each others differences?
I can relate to that feeling. My brother and my father died in 2020/21. Everything collapsed. I was fourteen in 1984, first time I danced with a Boy was to this song...Ay least I have my past to dwell in.
I know. You can't even call the junk today music. I hope you're feeling stronger. The last 3 years didn't have to happen!!!
Incredible that Tony’s voice was not at his peak during Live Aid. He even got better throughout the years
One of the best voices ever!!!
they also played it 30bpm faster
This is so true. I saw him a couple months ago at a show he did in Belgium and he sounded phenomable!!!
Spandau Ballet was one of the best bands of that era,and should have been more appreciated in the US.Their performance at Live Aid was one of the better sets that fine day.I am glad I was 18 and able to experience the whole early 80s vibe,I miss it all more every day.
This song was huge in the US. To me it's the anthem song of the 80's. When I think 80's I think Spandau Ballet and Tears for Fears.
Queen were the best out of all of them especially when you know Freddie mercury was singing against medical advice because he had a serious throat infection
@@lanaprowse3269 Nah. I'm not saying Queen weren't good, they were, but if you lived the 80's you would not say Queen was the band you think of when you think of the 80's. They weren't. At all. I lived it and their sound was not the sound of the 80's.
Great performance and song but the Cars were the best band at Live Aid.
@@CoolAce1
I've got that live recording of Ben Orr (Cars) knocking that song out of the park at Live Aid. These videos & songs & the current rock concerts & memories of the 80s are what created me.
Oh, and that roller rink where I grew up always had these 80s songs blaring!
I met Tony a few years ago when he performed at the royal Albert hall, we shared his dressing room and I can tell you this ‘ he is a down to earth smashing chap’ very professional but still has time to talk to people like one of the guys. Cheers Tony you’re a legend!
I can relate to that from my own experience of him he couldn’t have been any sounder a proper top bloke
Freddie got drunk with him in New Zealand they must have been down to earth kindred spirits
A very Happy 62nd Birthday Tony Hadley. June 2, 1960 Islington, London.
Your voice is so incredibly powerful, yet so smooth and calming..
Many more Anthony Patrick Hadley ...
@Tony Are you the real Tony Hadley or an impersonator? 😉
I met with Tony in Adelaide Australia two years ago. Also I've met Gary and Martin.
Why this 80’s and 70’s music is so much better than what comes out nowadays🤔
Voice module like auto tune and intense editing didn't start happening till like 2003 now it's literally in every single song
Because they were all talented musicians and song writers.
It blows my mind watching thousands of people watching these artists. No pushing, shoving, people dying....can't ever do a concert on that size nowadays. People just don't know how to act! 80s where the best.
I was a Duran fan at the time, that said this was a truly great iconic song, you can't deny Tony's voice
I was a fan of both bands (and some others from that fantastic decade)...
But always thought Tony's voice was better than Simon's.
@@mariadeolindarocha768 I agree

A leather trench coat in the heat. Now that's what you call a showman. Great vocals too. Respect.
I'm sure the was chilly even with the sun out!
And leather pants...gotta have the right look.
True rock n roll 80s style!
And so gorgeous 😍 💖
@@keithhubert7717nope. If you look at the audience, even they are sweating. It was a very hot July day at Wembley. Plus the heat from the stage lighting - bravo, Tony!
What an event. Thank you God for allowing me to have lived during this beautiful time.
It's 2021 and such a different world. Being able to watch this again after experiencing it when I was 20 is a privilege. I have a longing for his period in time that nothing can erase.
True that
Since covid the world has changed,, i was 20 and my wife was 18 wen we got married in 1996 , i lost her to covid on the 24th of this month, we always listen to music from the 80s 90s till our last trip within the country ( india ) earlier this month, we loved listening to music from 80s, 90s , she is not there with me but i have all the playlist thats stored on her phone which i will cherish listening till i am alive, i lost my love, my soul my life ,, will keep listening to the amazing music and remember my love with every favorite song of hers and our favorites
@@AkbarKhan-qq5cl A lot has changed, the whole world has gone nuts and America is leading the pack. I was in HS when Live Aid was happening and I stayed up the whole 3 days to watch it. Tony Hadley - what a singer!
The 80’s are truly the musical renaissance of the 1900’s
@Romanogers4ever that’s rubbish. 90s had great music.
and 2010's onward the garbage era
Maybe even of “forever”. I can’t imagine any future era coming close to the 80s. But let’s hope !
Não existirá igual, sou feliz por ter vivido essa época.
Yes I am proud that these were my high school songs.. Music has gone to shit since then getting worse and worse.. No soul like the 80s music
On one of the hottest days of the year, Tony Hadley wears a long leather coat & leather trousers…that’s dedication to the fashion victim cause right there!
Dressed to impress!
THIS is what REAL MUSIC should actually sound like... These guys really take us all to singing school!
This was '85...no high tech sht...no autotunes...just their low quality mics and authentic voices...back when you couldn't fake it
They didn't need to fake it they were bloody good unlike the crap they call. Music today.
Or lip sink to the degree they do now.
your mistake!! They were the best analog equipment of the time! Good microphones, good amplifiers, good operators and great artists !!
Best part of Live Aid was that SBG and Midge Urge required all performers to perform without any recording or sound modifiers. 100% pure music
A band can only be measured by their live and studio performances and spandau ballet rocks at both
35yrs ago Tony Looks n that voice is as distinctive as ever TRUE GOLD....❤⭐
His voice is great.
One of the better songs that was written and recorded around the world 🧡🥰
What a voice ! Amazing ! One of the best concerts ever !
.....and the best voice ever!!! 🎶👌😍
What a voice man, what a voice.
The days when mullets ran rampant. Incredible performance and GREAT song.
The 80’s... when we didn’t know anything about social distancing or iPhones, and every single day was a blast!
nah the 80s were boring af
I've forgotten like it was like then now.
Quiet nerd
This much is true
No Sh#t!!! We weren't too smart for our own good yet....now look at us..
The only time one performer showed he’s act and talent in music , then flew thousands of miles away to perform again on the very same day .
✨✨🙏✨✨🙏🙏✨✨
Me and my family love Spandau ballet especialy my mom. There was played at mom's funeral
July 2 my mom had another stroke
July 17 she went to heaven. I cried I cried in July every day in July August 22 is her birthday.
So sorry for you. I lost mine five years ago. Glad this is a solace.

Wonderful Tony Hadley and Spandau Ballet🥰👏🎼💙
What a beautiful song , band , the 80' music is so best ever👌💯
Spandau was a prison. When a convict was hung the swinging of the dead body at the end of the rope was called doing the SPANDAU BALLET. Humans can have such a dark senses of humor. The band took their name from this. Beautiful song.
Love you Tony Hadley. Great singer....
I may have been only 8 years old but damn I miss the 80s. Great music, Nintendo, Saturday morning cartoons, reading rainbow; god I can go on and on. I miss those days but glad I lived in that era!!! This song is amazing!

1983 when it came out. High school dances. House parties. The Jersey shore. I was dating the hottest girl in town. 16 years old with the world by the balls! What a great summer.
Love the 80s. So glad l was a teenager back then and experienced that marvelous time. Remember this song as if it was yesterday. One of my favorites.

1985 - Amazing song!
2021 - Amazing song!
I was 5 yrs old turning 6 when this happened. My father taped it on beta-max and I would watch this over and over. Even at 5 I knew how special this moment was. Artists aren’t the same, performances aren’t the same, concerts aren’t even the same. 80’s rocked
You're not the same yourself !!
Tony the voice of Spandau Ballet , the great band of U.K.
Love the 80s music!! Nothing like it! 😊
Hello Kate,
how're you doing?
Comments like this are priceless, Thank you,
it's nice meeting you here.
We saw them at the Wiltern Theater, LA, in January 2015 and again in July at the Pacific Amphitheater in Costa Mesa. They were better then than at Live Aid, even 30 years on. They were every bit as fresh as they were in the 80s. It brought back so many happy memories. It's too bad Tony Hadley left them again.
Watching from the Philippines, March 15, 2020 (Sunday), 8:53pm while on lockdown due to corona virus.

Me, just now 3.22.20 and also due to covid19 lockdown.
Same here in Brazil on 3.26.2020! 10:34AM brt...

I'm watching from Brazil!!
What a great day, I remember sitting outside of our local pub, The Mitre Now a co op , with my late brother David king, wish we could go back. But what a day for great live music xxxx
Stop worring about 5G/AI/iPhone 11/Going to Mars....etc, we dont need any of those.
The music in Live Aid 1985, is all we need.
you read my mind!!! is everything we need
I'm with you!
Oh yes! 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
Tony Hadley has a brilliant voice and very handsome man. It is amazing. Super music
Gary and Steve didn’t do the vocals instead the ladies did probably they wanted to rest their voice
I think Martin Kemp is way more Handsome ❤️
Your opinion. Fact is; this band is nowhere without Tony Hadley. And the ladies are still standing in line for him. Can‘t be said about clever, skinny Gary 😅.
@@JulieJulieTheRockChickhermiz being Male and straight I couldn't say for sure but I would think the Ladies would go for Marti Pellow before Tony or Martin. All three were good looking guys though
steve ferry Marti Pellow never appealed to me but I’ll tell you who else I found incredibly handsome. Bros, Nick Heywood, Ben Volpeliere-Pierrot, lead singer with Curiosity Killed The Cat, Dave Gahan, Martin Gore from Depeche Mode, Nik Kershaw, Duran Duran, Jon Moss drummer with Culture Club, Johnny Rzeznik with Goo Goo Dolls, Steve Tyler with Aerosmith, Brett Anderson with Suede, Daman Albarn and Liam Gallagher. 😊😂🤭🙈 I’m also straight and married but for me of all the females who I found drop dead gorgeous are Debbie Harry, Kim Wild, Sinead O’Connor, Annie Lennox, Chrissie Hynde, and Andrea Corr. 👍
Why is the 80's the very best musical decade?
Just have a look on what was on stage at Live Aid '85.
Every possible musical genres.
The 80s welcomed everyone, including Spando Ballet
No it wasn't..... From 1965 to 1975 was the authentic era for the gods!!
34 years seem to go by like a flash. What happened world? How did we get to where we are now, the brave new world?
How did I get here? Talking Heads!
The more things change, the more they stay the same !
I know right time flashes right pass are eyes that's why I don't blink anymore life is way to short
You can thank Israel for that.
Yeah cause I'm 35 now 😰
This is the sounds of my soul
Hell yeah! Now that’s a song that’s hard to do live but was done really well! What a performance!
Totally agree. I love this song, but i think the backup singers kinda ruined the vibe, and the bass guitar was kinda loud and kinda didn’t sound that great
This guy is amazing!
I remember sitting there and watching magic times
No phones concert! 😍
An amazing time to be 17 years old. It felt like we were close to getting everything right... Aids aside, it was a kind of heaven on earth for freedom of expression and all the love to make the world go 'round.
Then entered mass diversity and cancel (our) culture and the demise of our great people and country.
I agree I soooo miss the 80s it was the best of times ❤️🙏🇬🇧
I dont think the "aid" part of live aid corresponds to AIDS
@@ethanranzhortaleza8903 You're correct - it didn't. I was reflecting on the decade, with HiV/Aids being the singular negative in an otherwise brilliant ten years.
You only need to watch 3:04 to 3: 27 to see how much of a great singer and performer Tony Hadley is. He's bloody brilliant!
Literally my favorite part of the performance! 🤩🤩
Was always my favourite part of this performance too.
He has a great voice!

80s was the best part of my life . music was great going to drive in movies back then . be nice to go back in time
Leather pants, leather coat, warm weather and a nice mullet, that guy took a shower after that gig!
In July 🌡🌞
Explains why he's pouring with sweat!! Basically wearing all leather outfit under hot stage lights in the middle of summer and running around performing - he would've needed a good gurneying after that 😀😀!!
Took it where?
BEST DECADE EVER!!!! Through the barricades.
Love it . . . . one of the great songs of my youth !! 😀
This is not often mentioned, but I believe what made this concert the greatest ever was mullets. Let’s face facts, people.
They looked great back then.
😂
Hair often makes one look young. It frames the face, is a sign of good health. This hairstyle is descriptive of an era we all like to reminisce and would want to come back to. 💖💕
They are making a comeback lol
xaniiu is that true? Because I look pretty good in a mullet
Os Spandau Ballet foi na década de 80 uma das melhores bandas do mundo. Parabéns rapazes!
Yes 2021 going into 2022 a whole nothing world but Thank GOD we got this GREAT MUSIC to bring us back to when the world was a better place

My favorite 80’s band!!
I remember watching this back in ‘85. I was 19. I saw Tony perform at Forever Young Festival 5 days ago and he is as fabulous a singer as ever and a truly lovely man. ❤
I absolutely love this group, this performance was AWESOME!!!😁😁
Great Band. Tony has a wonderful voice, here in his best shape….
Without doubt the greatest live music event of all time and will never be topped as todays so called music artists can only dream of putting on a performance this good. it requires real musicians who play instruments and play them well, write their own songs and of course needs a top notch front man who can really sing like Tony Hadley here. No autotune. no session players backing you up .So take note this is what real music used to sound like!
That's why I teach at my school... they will never live this good...
Yes thi is tru but this music doesn't flow through millenials generation they love the fake showman autotune music
@Whyatt Preston |Yes there is! and as for the badd music in the 70's and 80's it was far outweighed by the good. The opposite can be said of todays mindless disposable rubbish!
@Whyatt Preston well I beg to differ so lets just leave it at that!
Absolutely true...
This was a favorite song of many even my mom! They sound great live! So great to be watching so many years later. Takes me right back to my youth
Great voice Tony Hadley 👍🏻👍🏻
This is awesome 🎉brings me back my God to the 80s --FYI I never saw until today…. Beautiful voice and song

Long leather jacket and pants in middle of summer lol. Something magical about the 1980’s tho can’t put my finger on what that was, maybe because I grew up then and everything seems great when you are young. Sensational decade for music. 👌🏻
Just as brilliant to this day as it was almost 40 yrs ago !
Please take me back to the 80's when live was good 🎶👌❤️
Excelente calidad vocal . Como te extrañamos años 80.
True great voice Tony Hadley👍😍
God, Hadley is a great singer! This was a breakout song, & if you loved New Wave, especially the New Romantic movement, the band was greatly regarded earlier than “True”. We loved that they were a REAL group.
I was in sat in front of one of the Wembley Live Aid cameramen when I was at Queen and Adam Lambert. Not a word of a lie.
Today is July 13th 2021, Like if you still watching this 36 years after this Historical Moment
The backing vocals on the record were perfect. No wonder this song was a big hit
