Don't you have to click TWO ripple icons to shft around multiple tracks? The How Tos seem (event when recent) to differ and my experience is not consistent.

You can also reduce lag in shotcut by pressing f7 to lower the quality on the preview, then pressing f6 to change it back to normal when you want

No a VPN is not required. You can download it straight from the Shotcut website
