As a European I always found this such a strange place, a city in the middle of the dessert yet a playground for the rich full of resorts, golf courses and other amenities... Interesting piece of history
In the 8 years since this video was made, Palm Springs has changed DRASTICALLY. The Measure J initiative brought in lots of tax money with which the city started a huge re/over development. It tore down lots of the old Spanish buildings to make room for giant modern hotels, stores and stadiums. (A developer bribed the mayor in the early 2010s which didn't help). It no longer has the kind of warmth and charm this woman spoke of, and the moron who commented below about old gays and nothing to do here clearly hadn't been here in a decade. I guess modernizing is necessary to keep a tourist town like Palm Springs living and thriving, but I for one miss the place that, even just 15 years ago, managed to keep the vibe of a small town gem in the desert.
mine too but just got back and noticed a lot more homeless people on the street than ever before. not sure why or what the city is doing/ignoring it. If the trend continues it will kill the whole place in time.
This town use to belong to back and brown people. The whites illegally possesed the land. The lady in the video is full of shit. That's why the city is getting sued for billions
Do y'all realize palm springs had a curfew for kids of sundown, it was traditionally a retirement community they frowned on children. My mom grew up in Palm springs during the curfew years . She said they use to go to the palm canyon to party in secret until the yucca man monster chased them off.
I went there...the #1 reason was to go to the spot w/the water and the palms...guess what? Never went to that spot! lol smdh...i guess cuz it was rainy and cold the 1st couple of days & then I rushed thru to get the sunny day photos and I just COMPLETELY forgot! Guess I got reasons to go back!
Very quiet, very clean and very boring, even when the coachella festival is going on...all the gays are old, all the people are old...it's a hour 1/2 from LA...I wish Ca had more color...the houses, apts are the same colors...but whatever

So u moved in to native land I had a white guy tell me to go home my family is native
White people are cancer not all but I mean just look at the shit they do to our people
Palm springs and the people there are horrible for what they did to the black and brown community
What about William Pester?
my gf lives here!!
This tour should add the section 14 and the forced relocation of black and Hispanic population.
I heard the land was stolen 🤔
I wish palm springs wasn't so liberal 🙄🥱
Just stay away!🖕
