Just a stepping stone in life. I wish you nothing but the best and believe you will be presently surprised at the relief you will have. Thanks for all the content and I'm looking forward to your future content.

    Been a joy to watch this portion of your collecting journey, and I’ll stick around for whatever you do going forwards. I’d love to cash in my collection to remove the burden of storing it and to put that cash towards something greater, like the “1:1 scale” you’re looking into. I can see why you’d take the 9.8K, definitely convenient to sell it all to one buyer. Best of luck to you and your family, you’re easy to root for my guy. 🧡

    Great video and I totally get why. You’re never going to get the full retail price selling in bulk as compared to selling individually. Plus then factor in your time to do individual sales, it think it was a fair deal for both of you. I’ve sold off a good portion of my collection this year too. It’s a way to continue as a collector without getting bogged down hoarding the past.

I finally got my Mustang GT/CS a few years back. Love it! I’m getting more into custom work on hot wheels. I could never sell my collection...parts of it maybe, but the whole dang thing, nah! As a collector since 1977 and a diorama builder since about 2009 it would be very difficult for me to do. I'm planning on leaving my collection to a homie and his sons when i pass! He doesn't know that though.

    $9800 is a fair price for both the buyer and seller. When an entire collection is sold at once, of course it would be less than if sold one at a time. However, the amount of time and labor involved in selling a collection this size is daunting. In my opinion, better to do what you did. We collect because we enjoy the hunt and like the cars. These cars are a lot like jewelry for us collectors. You got a fair deal.

  • @anthonys4159
    @anthonys4159 ปีที่แล้ว +10

    You have got to be kidding. You only got $9800 for your collection?!? This coming from the person who focuses on how much everything is worth. You sold everything for 1/3 of your collections real value?!? This makes no sense. So either HWs aren't really worth that much... or your wife told you to sell everything ASAP... or she was leaving. And all this coming from the guy who has a channel whose sole focus was on the "value" of his collection. Very ironic.

    • @DieCashCars
      @DieCashCars  ปีที่แล้ว

      Definitely not getting top of market pricing, but as with any lot sale there has to be incentive to buying. So gotta take that into account…
      On top of that…Life happens and I addressed that. This wasn’t the ideal situation but was what works out the best 👍
      Also this is closer to 2/3 the value of my collection ($10k/$15k)

    • @justinjustin5846
      @justinjustin5846 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s exactly because diecast cars, especially hotwheels, aren’t worth as much as these walnuts think. There’s no investment. There’s no portfolio. It’s toy cars that are made in the hundreds of thousands and millions. This whole channel has been nothing but a circle jerk of “iTs jDm BrO” acting like the little $1 car they got is going to pay dividends. Yes, there are pieces that command prices, but this dude had a whole box of mainline 22bs thinking it’s gonna be worth anything.
      With any market, this is considered a straight loss. Even if they for 1/1 the price of their collection it’s still breaking even, and that didn’t even happen.
      This channel really had dipheads going to the store thinking they’re gonna win the lottery lmfao

    I always tell those who question my hobby (especially my kids and wife): Hot Wheels is money in the bank. I'm not saying necessarily profit. I am saying that, in the end, you can get as minimum, as much as you invested in the hobby, if you maintain a careful balance of subjects (curating), mint quality, packaging and continuity (amount of years collecting). Money that you didn't spend on Hot Wheels, you could have end up wasting it on whatnot (booze, partying, useless stuff and gadgets that you can't resell, etc.). Now that money is in your collecting room waiting for you to convert it to cash whenever you need it, as you now, and many others have proven. So, congrats on your sale, enjoy life and always discover new hobbies that excite you and your family.

    Think you made a deal that was reasonable for both parties. When you look back on it you’ll have a chance to find some more neat model cars in the future but sometimes catching the right opportunity/deal on a certain 1:1 car is much more seldom and something you’ll remember for a lifetime.
    Now you don’t have to worry about running out of space to display your diecast (at least for the time-being).

    I don't see myself ever and I mean EVER getting a collection this big maybe Max 20 cars and that's it maybe even less I'm already at 7 and extremely satisfied but I'll look around and see what I find. I feel with every hobby I never over did it like even trading cards its just a small collection.

    Well brother, the way that I see it is yes you could of gotten more. However that means piecing it out, now it is all going at one time and it is a lot easier. Like you said this is a hobby and life come first. Trust me I do not want to give anything up, it has to be tough. Good luck with your new position and we will be here.

      He could've made more without piecing it out. If he was smart he would've advertised his collection for sale on various die cast forums and it would go quick.

    Look, I have been collecting since I was a punk kid in the late 70's. I never left the hobby, nor sold my "entire" collection. During military service abroad, I didn't collect, but while in the states, regardless of what city I was stationed, I made certain I hit the stores, shops and flea markets.
    When i get tired of the hobby, I simply take a break.
    Again, I have never sold my "entire" collection, why?
    Because I collect "WHAT I LIKE!"
    I don't chase "chase pieces"(Super Treasure Hunts, Treasures Hunts, White Lightning, Ultra Reds and so on)!
    I have cars that cost me a dime from '78, '79 and '80 and I have cars that cost me $200 that i have also.
    I said all that to simply say this: Super Treasure Hunts, Treasure Hunts, White Lightning, Ultra Reds and RLC are nice to have, but some of my favorite cars cost me less than a dollar!
    I collect the '55 Chevy Bel Air Gasser, '67-'69 Camaro, '68 Mercury Cougar, '83 Chevy Silverado, Surfin' School Bus, Drag Bus and a few more casting and I try to collect any new releases that come about.
    That's another thing, collect from "NOW", meaning if you start to collect your favorite casting and it is released twice or more this year, then collect it from that point forward, while trying to collect the older castings.
    If you awake daily and how well your day went is determined by how many Supers or chase pieces you found or didn't find, then this hobby isn't for you.
    Sorry to be so blunt, but trust me, in the long run, you will end up being miserable and dumping your collection, why?
    Because you were collecting for the wrong reasons!
    COLLECT WHAT YOU LIKE AND BE HAPPY!

    That’s way too low man. Could’ve gotten much more especially if you separate it. But 1:1 car is exciting, in a different way. Hopefully it’s a sought after one that’s only going to increase in value. I predict a 1:1 Nissan skyline or a civic type R in the works!
