    Also, regarding buying a house, bring your cash. Regardless of what you hear, nicer areas start around $650k. We bought our 2nd home in Boise since moving here 7 years ago. Paid $550k a year ago. Thanks to the flood of people escaping the left coast, same house now selling for $845k. That is IF you can find one and beat out all the cash buyers lined up to pay whatever. They are trolling our neighborhood everyday hoping to be the first to see the for sale sign go up. Usually it’s sold by then.

    • @BoiseRealEstate
      @BoiseRealEstate  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Interesting! Which neighborhood because what I am seeing is a cooler market now but stories like this wouldn’t have surprised me in March and April. Statistically only roughly 30% of all homes sales are cash as well

    Are there wild animals like bears and cougars in Boise? What about federal jobs?

    • @BoiseRealEstate
      @BoiseRealEstate  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Bears and Cougars... while i suspect there has been something of a bear or cougar sighting, i wouldn't guess it happens more than once every 100 years :) There are some federal jobs.. what were you looking for in particular?

    • @ehinsz92
      @ehinsz92 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      There are cougars, coyotes, rattle snakes, rabbits, and foxes in the foothills. Deer come into the city and get hit sometimes there are geese ducks and all sorts of wild life in town and along the river . Bats come out at night as well as raccoons. I could go on but these are some of the most common critters around unless you count the invasive Californians too!

  • @lithiumdeuteride
    @lithiumdeuteride 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    If we pretend as though White, Latino, Black, and Asian are the only four relevant racial categories, we can calculate a 'supremacy' score for a city as its highest population of any of these four categories, divided by the total population in all four categories.
    Here are some cities with a high 'supremacy' score, using 2010 census data or the nearest I could find: Seattle has a supremacy score of 71.1%. Mesa's supremacy score is 71.7%. Louisville's supremacy score is 73.4%. Detroit's supremacy score is 81.7%. Boise's supremacy score is 88.3%.
    That's right, Boise is *significantly* Whiter than Detroit is Black. It's more racially homogeneous than all of the country's 50 largest cities. Boise's rapid growth is reminiscent of White flight to the suburbs within cities, except at a national scale. The city seems to be the country's suburb.
