That 0-100... Fastest Miata in the world 😂
;)
3 years late on this joke but it's the Saab badge adding all that horsepower
Speedo stopped working today, definetly the cable as everything else works on the cluster. This video really helped! Subscribed!
thanks! glad I could help you
That buzzing is what I came here to fix.
🤣🤣🤣
Now I know that I need to replace the instrument cluster. Upvoted for education. 👍👍
Thank you :)
Replaced the speedometer cable today! No more jumping screaming speedo! Easiest “real” job I’ve done on a car. Just so long as you have jackstands!
Awesome
Months ago I noticed a lightly jumping needle on the 96 NA Miata (with cruise control). I realized I had to replace the cable... but didn't. On a trip to Tucson the speedo went wild and started screaming, not a light buzz or chirp, but sounded like gears getting torn up. I cut the cable at the hotel parking lot... Ahhhh, nice and quiet... but no speedo.. or cruise.. 500 miles back home, without cruise, sucks!!! I replaced the cable, but before routing it under the car, I tested it (fully seated in the gauge with cable pushed all the way in) and it made the same sound and needle jumping... mmmm. bad speedo or odometer gears in the housing (the reset button has been giving me a few problems resetting and clocking miles without playing with the reset button..)
Some cars allow you to replace the worm and drive gear for the odometer... It appears that none were to be found... Looks like after I fumble with the gauges, I'll be replacing them or at least the speedometer. Now time to deal with the dreaded cluster hood plastics :(
Good luck to all and I hope it it just a cable you end up having to replace.
Thanks! Yeah, mind did the exact same thing. It ended up being the gauge cluster that I swapped
I’m not sure if I missed it in the video but did you need to use any lubricant?
Take us along to the salvage yard when you go get the new cluster...............
Will do!
Moss Miata has some new gauge cover. I know because I ordered one and they were out and had to do new injection moldings. Obviously I waited months and months. But the good news is they now have some in stock.
Thanks for the tip!
I have a 93 Auto that has not had a working spedo as long as 'Ive owned it. We tried a new cable and still nothing. I looked into the transmission, there is no gear in there to accept the transmission end of the cable. HELP!
Hmm. I am unfortunately not familiar with autos. There should be some sort of input into the trans, as far as I know
Hi, I have a question if you can help me out, I checked the speedometer out from transmission end and twisted the wire by hand and mph gauge moves, so it needs speed sensor on the transmission end?
i'd assume the whole cable needs to be done, like i did here
How did you detach the speedometer cable behind the cluster??? My clip is also facing downward😭😭
maybe you can twist it around and get better access? It's a bit of a pain admittedly
My tachometer doesn’t work 🙁,also have a shaking Speedo,thought?
at least the speedo cable needs to be replacement
its probably the piece that the cable plugs into
Yeah I ended up replacing the cluster
thats a pretty fast miata
lmao
Video idea: Turbo X vs Miata race
I mean the answer is kinda obvious but it’d still make an interesting video
Lol!
Saab badge is not on straight!!!! 😣.... . Come on now needs perfection not half arse GM style 🤣!
haha
Saabiata 😁
😂👍🏼
Where did you get the cable
i think i mentioned it in the video. miata mecca might have it
I have watched 8 different videos on this and there is no way a man's hand fit behind the engine. I am a small boned woman and my hand won't fit back there no mater how I try to slip it in. Which I was uable to get the cable off the clamp on the firewal,l but and having no luck what-so-ever threading it into the firewall towards the tranny . The cable is unflexible and I can't even twirl it around to manuveur it in. I tried and even got under the car and cannot even see the firewall where it is suppose to be coming from. Forget seeing any clips.
im not quite sure exactly how i did it, sorry. this video is years old. good luck!
@@AutoAutopsy Somehow I managed to remove and put on the new one. The problem is now I am replacing a fender ,which I am told is easier with the tire off, and I can't get the bumper to losen to remove the last bolt for the fender, and then I have the seats pulled to recover and I am replacing the top. So until all of this done, I can't drive it to see if the speedometer is fixed...lol
You rely need a repaint
Not worth it when it's getting sold in a month, lol
