  • We finally tried rodizio Brazilian churrasco!
    It's an all-you-can-eat Brazilian BBQ, and we tried it at the most famous Brazilian steakhouse: Fogo de Chao.
    Check out our reaction trying this Brazilian food.
    Stay tuned for more Brazil travel vlogs, including Brazilian food vlogs, and some deep dives into the history and culture of Brazil. Of course, we will be heading over to Rio De Janeiro for some beach life (and more drinking and dancing, we'd imagine) and then into the Amazon rainforest to capture some wildlife. So, in the end, lots more good content to come from Brazil!

      First of all: NO Carbs hahahaha
      Secondly: NO japanese food if it's a bbq joint
      Get the salad just to color the plate
      Order the best and most expensive cuts: Ribeye, Prime Rib, Sirloin, Picanha, Alcatra with cheese, Lamb with mint jelly and wild animals cuts: boar, rabbit, sheep. If they have available, go for Kobe and Baby beefs
      Drink anything slowly and enjoy your meal.

    Hello, Ivana and Steve!
    Actually, GAÚCHOS are also brazilians! The gaúcho culture spreads through 3 coutries: Argentina, Uruguay and Brazil (in the State of Rio Grande do Sul and bits of Santa Catarina and Mato Grosso). In fact, the brazilians born in and the culture of Rio Grande do Sul are called "gaúchos" and "gaúcha", respectivelly.. ||| I love your videos!

      yeah but in Brazil only the people from Rio Grande do Sul are gaúchos. Whereas in Argentina everyone is gaucho, that's why Argentina is called a Gaucho Nation, while us in Brazil we are a Carioca Nation.

    • @iodainsoneoficial
      @iodainsoneoficial 2 ปีที่แล้ว +42

      Not Exactly!
      First, the gaucho culture goes far beyond the Rio Grande do Sul state border and includes many communities in Santa Catarina, Paraná and even Mato Grosso.

      @@saintpinewood562 Second, brazilian culture have many subsets and the carioca culture is, by area distribution, one of the smallest ones. Both by number of people and area, the biggest subsets of the brazilian culture are the caipira culture complex, the northeast-sertanejo culture, the gaucho-southern culture, the amazonic culture, etc. Carioca culture is highly concetrated around Rio de Janeiro city and metropolitan area.

    • @iodainsoneoficial
      @iodainsoneoficial 2 ปีที่แล้ว +28

      @@saintpinewood562 Third. Not even in the state of Rio de Janeiro (RJ) the carioca culture is predominant. The state is the result of the FORCED merge of two culturally very distinct previous states (State of Rio de Janeiro, with "fluminense culture", that was, and almost currently is, closer to "mineiro culture" then"carioca culture" and the State of Guanabara, where the "carioca culture" flourished).

You can visit Curitiba/PR and eat all these foods, it will be a great trip.. Curitiba is the capital of Paraná state, one of the biggest city, like the other two, but more safe. If you have planning on going to São P or Rio, just take a hotel in Downtown and you'll be safe too. Just don't miss the oportunity of visiting this beautiful country, it's super worth :)

    Gaúcho is applied to people from the Pampas, a biome from Southern South America, most notably Southern Brasil, Northern Uruguay and northern Argentina. It would be like the cowboys from the south. Rodízio was born when a waiter mistakenly took the stick straight from the grill to the table and offered a small slice so the customers could try the meat. People fell in love instantly.

    Hey guys, "rodizio" does not mean "all you can eat", it means that there will be a "rotation" (hence the word rodizio) of what is served, meaning, many different cuts or flavours. It is true that most rodizios are also all-you-can-eat, but that´s just a tradition. Strictly speaking, in portuguese, all-you-can-eat is "à vontade". So if you go to a buffet restaurant, for instance, you may pay for "à vontade" or by kilo, or by plate size!

    9:00 The "strip with the salt" is called fraldinha (a.k.a. bottom sirloin or flank steak), and it's one of my favorite cuts. The picanha cut is available not just for steak, but for lamb as well (another of my favorites). And during dinner hours they offer even more types of meat, including ribeye, filet mignon, lamb chops, and beef ribs (yet another favorite).
    The Fogo de Chao restaurants I go to in the U.S. have different side dishes from the ones you got. Rather than french fries and onion rings, I get fried polenta sticks and some fantastic cheese bread (very handy for sopping up meat juices).
    All in all, Fogo de Chao is the place to go when you really, really, REALLY want to indulge.

    Yes, the waiters are dressed as gaúchos, who are indeed traditional South American cowboys. We use the same word as our neighbors in Argentina and Uruguay (after all, there is a lot of cultural overlapping between those countries and South Brazil, due to a long and tumultuous shared history). However, we do pronounce it differently:
    Spanish: GAU-cho
    Portuguese: ga-Ú-cho
    Besides, gaúcho is also the term we use to designate all the natives of Rio Grande do Sul.

    The rodízio is not an old institution. It emerged in the southern region of Brazil during the 1960s. It started on the side of highways, next to gas stations, to attract its preferred customer: the truck driver who appeared in front of him. After three decades, it had spread to the main cities in the country and abroad.
    the success of the rodízio pleased Brazilians so much that it was replicated with other types of food…

    And you can also ask for a specific type of meat you liked or would like to try and they'll bring it directly to you.
    This is my favorite type of restaurant, but it's not common for Brazilians to visit them every week or month unless you're very wealthy.

    Oh, no one taught them about the buffer plate yet. You need a second plate just for piling up the incoming meat, this way you can eat at your leasure without having to flip the card all the time, only flipping when you're done.
    Also you must ask for garlic bread and grilled pineapple with cinnamon. Churrascarias are very accommodating and will grill some for you if they have it.

    Hello, Ivana and Steve! The rodizio is not an old institution. It emerged in the south of Brazil during the 1960s. It started on the side of highways, next to gas stations, to attract its preferred customer: the truck driver who appeared in front of it. The action became cultural and since then Brazil has been famous for its various types of food and beverage rodizio. Very happy that you enjoyed the experience. Always come back!

    Rodizio is awesome but going to a real south of Brazil Fogo de Chao do Gaucho outdoor barbecue is a diffrent and amazing experience. In Sao Paulo I would recommend going to Master Churrascaria in Praça Bento de Camargo Barros, much less expensive but still very good.
    Personally I enjoyed Sushi Rodizio with all the Brazilian fusion sushi things going on perhaps even more than the traditional BBQ Rodizio.

    This kind of restaurant born in a roadside truck drivers restaurant on the south of Brasil on the 1970's and was initially called 'espeto corrido' (steakstick running in a free translation) with the waiters passing the different kind of meat onto an 'all-included' cheap system so with the success of this kind of restaurant all over the country, those cheaper & unknow '2nd class' meat cuts like picanha or maminha had rised to the top on the people's taste.
