    Part of dropping sugar out of the diet is reducing all sweetness of all foods, and over time you stop looking for anything sweet tasting. I started with 90% Lindt chocolate, which seemed bitter at first, but after a couple of weeks I tried a 100% Montezuma chocolate and that is a different animal. Now I have totally converted to 100% chocolate and like it. The 90% seems too sweet now.

    Every night I make my special hot cacao drink for my hubby & I.
    * 1 cup almond milk & 1 cup coconut milk mixed =2 cups ☕️☕️
    * 2 tablespoons of organic cacao powder
    * 1 tablespoon of coconut sugar
    * pinch of sea salt
    * 4500 mg of ashwaganda powder
    Medium heat 5 minutes on stove, blend well until smooth, pour in cup and grate fresh nutmeg on top.
    So far we haven’t had a problem going to sleep after. It seems to really mellow us out, especially my hubby since he’s got a very stressful job.

      @Jack Neary cavities are mainly caused by sugars and acid. The higher the cacao %, the lower the sugar content although brands will slightly vary. I don't think dark chocolate is acidic or if so, a mild acidity.
      You'll notice with dark chocolate (especially 80% or above) it gets bitter. I love 90% dark chocolate as I'm on keto and tastes so much better as in cut sugar out. You also eat a lot less when it's dark.
      Long story short. I highly doubt dark chocolate contributes to cavities but oral hygiene is still very important but it won't rot your teeth like milk chocolate.

      Absolutely...
      it's not just with chocolate, for me it occurs with any other "addictive type food"...
      if I were to consume only a small portion, for example of cake at someone's birthday party, automatically I would start craving more and more...
      and this includes all carbs, junk foods, processed food-like substances 😊
      But....
      also fruits, my favorite treats, like apples...
      I'll have to force myself to eat just one or two instead of 10 ! 😉
      But yeah,
      a single biteful of something addictive,
      switches on the
      "binge mode" and it's big trouble after that

    I'm glad I watched this video to the end.
    I have a kidney stone and had no idea that dark chocolate contains oxalates and that if you're at risk for kidney stones,it's not recommended to be eaten.
    And I've been eating it on an almost daily basis not realizing what it contained and what that can lead to.
    Noone ever tells you this stuff.
    There should be a warning label on the candy wrappers,"Warning:Contains Oxalates.People at risk for kidney stones should not consume"
    Just like the warning they put on soda labels warning Phenylketonurics that the soda contains phenylalanine. (An amino acid)

    Dr. Berg, do you have any information on what causes Sun Bumps on my arms when exposed to the Sun. The bumps are itchy too!
    As great as I eat per your informative videos' over the last couple of years, I am stumped as to why I get these Sun Bumps per say!
    I put a dash of Cacao in my Omelette every morning along with 40 other spices. Sounds nuts; however, I figure a dash of every spice I can find that is organic can only make me feel wonderful.
    It is amazing Dr. Berg thinking about all the videos you have, that just continue to teach us what we should have been taught from pre-school.
    I just love shopping for the good foods and reading labels. I put many things back on the shelf after seeing what they put in the product that is not made for our precious bodies!
    What I have seen over the last ten years is people just blowing up like balloons. I see this and my heart breaks for them, as they are lacking knowledge on food intake.
    Much love to you and your family!

    Hi Dr. Berg … A great headline. 💐 I was drawn to chocolate right away. At 2:26 … “sugar is like sandpaper to the arteries”? What does this mean, good or bad? I think of sandpaper as something that cleans by abrasion. We certainly know the downside of sugar, otherwise. Lately, because of your videos, I’ve been turning down liquor offers more than ever because of the sugar content. ☕️AA couldn’t “cure” me but being in tune with health consciousness has done wonders.
