Lots of readily available dark chocolate sold today has been tested by Consumer Reports and Consumer Lab and quite often these bars contain high amounts of the toxic heavy metals.

Before I switched, I still consumed the ones I had because it's not that big of a problem if you consume it the right way. If you have those brands found to contain above average amounts of heavy metals, luckily it's not the end of the world. - Consume the chocolate with fibrous foods, that alone will reduce heavy metal absorption quite drastically. - For more effectiveness, include some phytic acid containing foods if you're healthy. It's not just an anti-nutrient, it binds to damn near everything, such as heavy metals, just like fiber rendering it a powerful detoxifying aging if consumed in moderation. - Get some iodine! This aids the body in removing heavy metals.
I wouldn't eat ghirardelli chocolate either! The Consumer Reports tested 28 dark chocolate bars for lead and cadmium. They found either or both in all of the chocolate bars including ghirardelli products (just less of it). Remember this is a test at a point in time, ghirardelli likely sources its chocolate beans from multiple sources, so one batch may be fine and the next full of lead and cadmium. Things like Kale and spinach are already full of cadmium, no need to make matters worst by adding chocolate to the mix. If I have to get cadmium, I'd rather get it from things like Kale and spinach than from chocolate.
@@mikepetrilli4686 Definitely agree with the variability in heavy metals between the source of cacao. I will not however, stop eating my kale, spinach, or dark chocolate. Since following Dr. Grundys advice on lectins way back in 2017, my health changed for the better. So I started having 2 squares of dark chocolate every evening - some times up to 4 squares. For the past 3 years or so I have had a sore mouth . My homeopath tried various remedies but nothing worked. I thought chocolate might have something to do with it, so stopped for a few days but nothing changed so I went back to the chocolate. Then one day I came across something about oxalates causing burning mouth syndrome. I investigated further and realised that I had anoxalate overload problem, probably since childhood and I am now 80 almost. Although I am very fit and healthy, this explains some of the health issues that I have had and it is my view that the oxalates have possibly caused the lectin intolerance. I have now reduced my oxalate levels and stopped chocolate and other so called healthy foods. My mouth is no longer sore, various skin issues are clearing up and I feel so pleased that I have found out this information.

I ate 100-150g everyday for 6months, may have been detrimental (too much cadmium or lead In my brand possibly) felt worse after some time, how could I eat up to 150g? well I ate 1 meal per day for some months..mostly chocolate and oliveoil as fat... so when you are hungry you will eat It, not so great in hindsight. Quit it for 6 months and felt better, eating it again but changed brand and I only eat 50-75g every 3rd day or so, being careful for now.
From the time to time, I savour 100g of dark chocolate in one sitting. But not every day. Other days, I only drink unsweetened hot cocoa with just two teaspoons of cocoa powder. Dark chocolate tastes just wonderful, but it is so sad that it's high in cadmium and lead.
I ate dark chocolate daily for 3 years until a comprehensive study found that the majority of them contain very unsafe levels of cadmium and heavy metals. Specifically, dark chocolate had, on average, 7.6 micrograms of cadmium and 0.8 micrograms of lead per one-ounce serving, and some products had three or four times as much. Look it up.
try cacao nibs. they taste nice, especially the ones with yacon syrup, if you want some sweetness. also it's less processed and has a crunch like peanuts.
After eating 2 squares of 80% chocolate i feel weird. I feel a weird tension in stomach(not sick, like your are physically hungry, but psychological hunger is supressed, very strange) and saliva production increased drastically(remember feeling that way when i was still smoking after chain smoking two or three cigs). Is it safe if i feel that when eating it, or do i have some kind of allergy or incompatibility with it? I may be wrong, but i feel like it also supreses hunger alot, and above all wish to eat other sweets. Common candy is like 10% cocoa 60 percent sugar and the other stuff is something like palm oil(if you are lucky) and who knows what
I make the same chocolate drink but I add in magnedim and a dash of blue green algae and silica and himalaya salt... also add in maca powder bc it will make it go strait to the brain ..when i make it that way i literally feel it hit me like a drug i feel the happy effects in half a hour or less

Hello👋😎, well Dr Gundry, for the past 5 months, I have been eating a little dark chocolate (Lindt 85%),,, until a recent article came out stating, that dark chocolate was found to have high amounts of Lead and Cadmium, which is bad for your health, Lindt dark chocolate being one of the worst, needless to say, I have stopped eating dark chocolate for now, until I learn more, have you heard of this?
Whatever doc! Not everyone should be eating more or lots of chocolate. One should be eating things according to what your biochemistry needs to help it stay balanced with other nutrients. Just the fact he recommends chocolate is good for all, clearly shows how little he actually knows and understands about biochemical individuality. - Chocolate is super high in copper, some folks might need a little more others do not! It is imperative to understand and learn what's happening with your biochemistry. It is well studied and understood that excessive extracellular copper that exceeds your bodies ability to bind up copper safely with ceruloplasmin and metallothionein is a signal for and involved in uncontrolled angiogenesis! That is exactly what tumors need to grow new blood vessels and proliferate!
I'm quite partial to Lindt's 85% cocao chocolate bars. I know that 70% dark chocolate is considered the minimum for it to be considered healthy, but I find that's too sweet for me.
Too much metals in the dark chocolates. Lead and Cadmium. The higher the cocoa the more metal. South American plants tend to have higher metal in they’re cocoa than African plants
Because chocolate had caffeine and other chemicals that increase dopamine, its very addictive, I was consuming 200g a day and it had negative effects on my mood.
Thank you 🙏🏻 I just checked all of the dark chocolate and cocoa that I have in the house and it’s all dutched 😢 at least I know better now and can do better moving forward.
It is, indeed, high in oxalates. 250mg on 100 grams (or 400mg if you take 100% cacao dark chocolate). Also, spinach is extremely high in oxalates, along with other foods like rhubarb, Swiss Chard, beets or Star Fruit.

Look it up.
I love the chocolate but I recently heard it has arsenic in it.
Like most rice grown in TX and elsewhere.
Is Choc Zero dark chocolate compliant? It contains non-GMO resistant dextrin. Thanks!
try cacao nibs. they taste nice, especially the ones with yacon syrup, if you want some sweetness. also it's less processed and has a crunch like peanuts.
What about the pollution of dark chocolate with cadmium and lead?
Except which one doesn't have heavy loads of lead and cadmium..per consumer reports
Cacao powder is healthier, it is in its natural form, less processed
Pls post that recipe for your mocha.
I heard that Dark Chocolate also helps with weight loss that it don’t contain sugar
Provided they don't contain heavy metal
Would drinking cocoa powder be same?
Olive oil + Dar Chocolate = WOW! Thank you, Doctor. I've been taking them daily, but separately. Hopefully that's just as good.
Common candy is like 10% cocoa 60 percent sugar and the other stuff is something like palm oil(if you are lucky) and who knows what
I just read the comments about metal toxicity. It may be a good idea to have it with zinc and magnesium, to detox.
Maybe with zinc but I don't think you'd need the extra magnesium. There's plenty of it in chocolate
Valrahons brand said to be lower heavy metals.
I was eating Aldis brand and emailed them when the current situation over cadmium broke. How dubious.. "This product is not subject to recall".. 😒
How much shokolade 90% cacao per day? I am 'eating' 40-60g of cacao powder daily. I assume, powder is better ?
I make the same chocolate drink but I add in magnedim and a dash of blue green algae and silica and himalaya salt... also add in maca powder bc it will make it go strait to the brain ..when i make it that way i literally feel it hit me like a drug i feel the happy effects in half a hour or less
What about the oxalates 🤔🤔🤔
Aside from getting heavy metals as found in the recent study?
Hey Dr. Gundry, how are you doing today, sir??? I was wondering; does the level of cocoa makes any difference??? I ask because I heard somewhere that 2 lose weight, it's best 2 consume @least the dark chocolate of cocoa level of @least 80% or higher... is this true???
Hello👋😎, well Dr Gundry, for the past 5 months, I have been eating a little dark chocolate (Lindt 85%),,,
until a recent article came out stating, that dark chocolate was found to have high amounts of Lead and Cadmium, which is bad for your health, Lindt dark chocolate being one of the worst, needless to say, I have stopped eating dark chocolate for now, until I learn more, have you heard of this?
bonneterrre brand is fine? high quality
Can I have dark chocolate if I have a carcinoid tumor on my trachea???
Heavy metal in dark chocolate please advise
What about the insane unsafe amounts of heavy metals in majority of all dark chocolate that is not disclosed by the companies?
Do you have to eat at the end of a Meal when you do intermittent fasting One Meal A Day?
It's high in oxalates, so they say. Kidney stones formers should avoid it, so I heard.
What about the oxalates?
And what about lead and cadmium?
Can I have dark or milk chocolate if I have hemacomatosis iron overload??
Cadmium and lead increase the healthy properties apparently.
What are the names of the dark chocolate
I'm quite partial to Lindt's 85% cocao chocolate bars. I know that 70% dark chocolate is considered the minimum for it to be considered healthy, but I find that's too sweet for me.
85 % dark chocolate for me. Glad its good for you 😁. Bitter as hell though lol.
Read Consumer Lab report on cacao...
Thank you 🙏🏻 I just checked all of the dark chocolate and cocoa that I have in the house and it’s all dutched 😢 at least I know better now and can do better moving forward.
why dont you recommand mackerel in your Comprehensive Lectin Free Diet Plan Dr Gundry
Chocolate is very high in copper and oxalates
Can I just buy some nitric oxide from the store then drink some olive oil… what type ?
Been eating dark chocolate :from my own garden no sugar
What about cadmium and lead content?
as we age, excess iron in blood and tissues go up and a deficient in copper. dark chocolate contains copper.
what about kidney stones and chocolate
Concerned about heavy metals in your chocolate? Look-up "chlorella heavy metal chelator".
Organic dark chocolate,
Can cocoa demeges kinex
Chocolate is also loaded with oxalates.
Why everything has .. natural or organic cane sugar... it still sugar
I love dark chocolate…especially because it contains copper. However the pesticides & chemicals used in manufacturing dark chocolate worries me.
What about the extremely high oxalates?
It is, indeed, high in oxalates. 250mg on 100 grams (or 400mg if you take 100% cacao dark chocolate). Also, spinach is extremely high in oxalates, along with other foods like rhubarb, Swiss Chard, beets or Star Fruit.
recently started eating 100 dark chocolate every morning. so tasty
Thank you Dr Gundry. I found this Chocolate bar at Whole foods by Alter Eco called total Black Out 100% CACAO. Is this brand acceptable or am i missing something. I also eat Coco nibs. Thankyou.
Dip a strawberry in it 100% cacao is really good on them
I got 100% dark chocolate instead of pop corn while watching this video mmmmmmmhmm... lol
