Insectoids and leviathans should be focused a bit more now, i think they have the talent and the tech to start designing some real intricate and awesome monsters
Well leviathans got the spotlight in Rise with Almudron and Somnacanth, both with subspecies, and Mizutsune being very featured and getting the first new rare species in more than 5 years. So if they only port a few from Rise because they already have the assets ready I'd be ok with that.
Insectoids, sure, but leviathans? I believe some new ones might definitely appear but they’ve had plenty of attention already. Snake Wyverns, however, deserves a whole lot of more focus.
From what we saw from the trailer is at least 7 large monsters (six of the bear things and one rathalos) on the map. You know what that means? The large monster limit on maps has been raised if not removed. You know what else that also means? We can finally have a strong pack hunting monster! In nature pack hunters are often top order carnivores such as wild dogs, hyenas and wolves, yet this niche is mostly relegated to lower order carnivores in Monster Hunter, usually to raptors, due to the large monster cap limitations. I especially want an apex-level raptor, the Utahraptor of bird wyverns, that through having to fight a group of them at once with coordinated pack tactics, could be a high star rated hunt!
Rakna Kadaki is already an apex pack hunter! But yeah, I'd also love to see new strong group fights, one especially I'd live to see are female zinogres since in lore they are said to usually hunt in packs unlike males but we never saw that in game for limitations sadly.
Yes! More insect, crustaceans, amphibians, and mammalians monsters i would love to see as well piscine wyverns also! They are all underrated! Snake wyverns and leviathans i believe are going to be one of their main focuses also
I agree that Monster hunter definitely needs some more late game monsters that aren't flying wyverns, elder dragons or rajang. I personally would love the idea of giving other monster species the shot at being a "big bad" I know we are most likely never gonna get a Carapacion of all things on a box cover but I'd love to see something like a bird wyvern being the flagship.
I think what could be an interesting thing for wilds to do is to have a 4th monster slot for specific large monsters, Like say, LaoShan or Gogmazios or the Ukanlos/Akantor type species, they could maybe appear on random hunts or be the objective of siege-like fights with other monsters sometimes complicating things. Would give them more of a role in modern monster hunter instead of just being siege fights that more often than not are disliked.
Maybe not Gog or Ukanlos and Akantor for that, they already have actual real fights that could just be built on. I’d think more stuff like Lao, Shen Gaoren, Yama Tsukami and the Mohrans.
@@FlubbadonFor Yama, we have the frontier species call Testulotora or whatever it is called and it is a proper fight. Yama could use the movement from frontier and into wilds
In Wilds, you may be fighting a funny bird thing and accidentally hit the sleeping demon monkey you didn’t see and moments after the bird calls in the pickle from hell while also hearing the calls of a giant flying pinecone above you. And Banbaro is there for some reason
The lightning rods and the area changing with the storm rolling in reminds me of the MH movie. Maybe it’s connected and affects the monster roster somehow. Monsters from different regions and time during certain storm events?
I honestly don't care who gets in or not, but i hope they make it more varied than the usual, diablos, teostra, kirin, kushala, lunastra etc. comes back way too often. I know they can't do anything about rathalos/rathian as they're a staple for the mh franchise, but the others shouldn't have the same treatment.
Its a base game, so i expect the roster to be 30~50 big Monsters like how it always is. If underwater combat really returns i expect only 20~30 big Monsters.
You are shock with 3 amphibian while there is literally one lonely snake wyvern with its sub species in the entire franchise Now that's a shocker right there
I think Capcom is about to go [well] WILD on our new roster. The head dev was given 'complete creative freedom' so I do think we are going to get the hands down best roster ever
My biggest (and probably least likeliest to come true) hope for MH Wilds is that they deflanderise the Insect Glaive and turn it back into the weapon it once was in 4U and GU rather then the abomination it was in Rise.
I know my exact wishlist but generally what I'm hoping for is healthy roaster mabye 80 to 85 ish that has lots of variety with things like insects, beasts and Leviathans, some absolutely giant monsters like Duramboros, some long lost stars like Lagiacrus, the core cast and a healthy dose of new monsters, I want them all to feel like they fit the environments and to be healthy disreputed throughout the game having a healthy mix of low, mid, high and endgame monsters without being too top heavy, 4U is a great example of how to build a roster
I agree with that. Expecting a base game to have a roster the size of an G-Rank expansion is unrealistic, unless its an anniversery title like Generations which Wilds isn't. Over all i fear people are going to hype themself way too much up, just to then get dissapointed because of that.
The possibilities are endless. Wilds looks like it's going for more of a tribal and wild feeling to it. The number of variations in the monster types are unknown and unlimited until we get closer to release. I would say I would like at least 70 to 90 monsters, maybe 100, with a good number of types in each category. The issue with gen 5 is the variety of monsters you get to fight.
All I hope for is that we get a more unique roster. Its kinda tiring seeing Tigrex, Zinorge, Naragacuga, and the like. Lets get some quikier mosters from the series, lets get some more big bugs and bring back some more obscure monsters
Im hoping for some weird and wonderful bois to come back. Or at least variation on them, for instance the open plains in the trailer makes me think a warm climate Gammoth could be cool. If Gammoth was a woolly mammoth this would be the Columbian mammoth. Just an idea, but I think this would be a more interesting way to do subspecies than what we usually see. I think they should bring back water combat, but if they didnt want to they could do this for Lagiacrus. More bugs too pls lol.
Honestly monsters are the least of my thoughts, if they add new ones? Good, if they don't, It's fine cus the game gonna be fire. What I REALLY want is New classes.
Why would you expect 70 monsters if worldborne had 71? Wilds is the base game so you should compare to base world, and not include its expansion, am i wrong?
It depends because monster hunter is known to bloat its monster roster by recycling assets. Base 4 had 51 large monsters at release cuz they ported some or reused their animations/effects/AI from 3U and P3rd While 70 it is waaay too big for a base game, I say it is not too far off to immagine a bigger roster like 4, considering we already know this game reuses Rise's assets (the new bear monsters reuse Goss Harag animations) and by extension probably world too. If it has no underwater combat or dumb turtle siege monsters that clog half of the staff for one year, I'd say 40-50 like 4 and P3rd is a realistic ammount.
@@Mirawaru 40/50 is a realistic amount, but 70 isn't and that's basically the reason of my comment. Despite them reusing assets/skeletons etc. For the newer games, we also have to take into consideration the fact that world and rise were two different games visually speaking, which obviously took some time from them. Same is probably gonna be for wilds, maybe resembling more the graphics of world (as we can see from the first teaser) and yes, taking the assets from rise aswell, but for example. Assume they are gonna resuse the models for some of rise's monsters, like the goss harag looking beast, It sure took them a lot of work to remake its graphics And that's why i say 70 is absurd to even think about. Obviously, the more the better, i would be really happy to be wrong, but to me it's just absurd logic

mollusks-like monsters deserve some representation too!
Add amphibians to that list and im sold.

80 to 85 for a base game is extremly unrealistic, even for a G-Rank expansion it a lot.
I just want the design philosophy of monster Hunter RISE. the Armor and weapons are so colorful and varied there. Worlds Designs are so boring
Nice to see Steve getting new fans as he deserves them but Toridcless only? With Yian Garuga having variants like Scarred and Deadeye?
I’m in the small majority that wants to see Conga come back 🙏
I hope Rotten vale and Coral Highlands return in wild.
I’m coo with 70 aslong as they don’t duplicate 5 dif monsters n recolor them into subspecies

Funny enough, Taikun Zamuza is early game.
Snake Wyverns are hurting the most for large monster numbers with it only having one member
