My late father owned a w124 250D for ages, sold it with 726k km (451115 miles). Never a single problem with regular maintenance, never left it on the road...
Timeless elegance, sublime shape, classy and prestigious. At the time, owning one of these made a real statement Mercedes’s ultimate build quality, what the heck have they become today? W124 &W126 are the best Benz’s ever.
I always felt these were the last of the great ones. Absolutely bullet proof in many ways. Even 32yrs later, its still in better shape than your average every day Camry, and way better built. Parts are easily attainable and if you own some wrenches, it’s not that hard to work on. I still see these fairly often out here in the Desert Southwest. One will pop up every now and then in Southern Cal, Vegas, or Scottsdale. Often with miles under 100k! The people that own them usually take good care of them and with the climate out here, remain rust free. Well worth the investment and love the classic look. Oh, and lookin sharp in the Paul Newman Carrera’s there Bob!
It’s a great car. I had a 95W 126 Cabriolet which I recently sold. I was lucky enough to find a great mechanic here in Central Phoenix. However, some parts are not that easy to come by. I had to source some parts for my car from Germany.
Didn't know that Mercedes used that wrong nomenclature already in the 80's. It makes no sense that 300d is 2.5 litre. OM602 with Turbo is the rarest diesel configuration in W124 I believe, 3 litre ones were much more popular + 2.0 and 2.5 naturally aspirated were everywhere in Europe as a Taxi.
I have this same car in Black/Black. The chassis is bulletproof. Mine came from Alex at Legit Street Cars and has been LS swapped. I love it!! GLWTA on BaT!!
I thought they had gone to the 6 cylinder by this year, but I guess not. I had a 2001 e320 a few years ago. It was solid and quiet with a good v6 engine. But the interior sucked. It had cheap plastic and thin, cheap leather in it.😮 Take care!
A BEAUTIFUL STUNNING SURVIVOR-WOW, INCREDIBLE Benz.

Wow...I used own one these 20 years ago...Bought at 75K miles and sold at 200K miles. Great vehicle
What a clean and nice example of this classic! Hope it finds a new home soon.
Its so industrial & timeless! That will reach 1 million miles and more! Someone should be making soundtrack with W124 door & trunk closing sounds.
Great find, Bob
If I didn't live in Australia I would take it
Me too 🇦🇺
Real nice looking Benz
Classic… another SUPER find. Enjoyed the tour!

0:27 belt tensioner bushing has slight rattle
Even though it is very....very.....nice.... removing that old magnetic satellite radio kit antenna would clean up that trunk lid.
got the streeing wheel on the wrong side haha

How much does that Lincoln town car Cartier cost?
@@quincycooper79 it’s on the website for $16k.

The gas versions of this car had an In-Line 6 cylinder engine. Straight 6cylinder Diesels began with the refresh of the W124 in 1993 in the US.
@bailment1 Thanks. If I remember right, though, the SDL in the 80s had a 6 cylinder diesel
@@wernerdanler2742 yes in both 3.0L and 3.5L displacements.
I mean 300E from orginal owner made 8k at BaT.. so maybe this reach 10k
Gas car common and not nearly as rare or desirable. This exact spec car with 23k miles just sold a week ago on BAT for $90k.
@@euroasianbob9268 Well we shall see, but can't expect same when it was a pristine example
@@TheNismo777 not expecting anything close to that but definitely going to bring well beyond your estimate.

NOT such an easy fix to fix the headliner...thinking about just stapling mine...what do you think? should i? lol
@@IraHayesIraHayes it’s actually not that tough. Fix it right. Pull down, clean, and re glue.
