Makes sense to use what you're used to and get the best results with, especially in competition. My understanding is these probably aren't ideal much beyond 30 or so yards? But for shooting in one's yard, I like the idea of not making it a toxic waste dump...which is solely my opinion. I just hope companies continue to experiment to find better lead free materials and make the pellets/slugs better and better...coz lead is just bad stuff and needs to be replaced, simple as that.
I do agree on the lead being not nice, and i think shooters will get over it and continue to shoot straight lol. People don't like change, but change is very often needed. Thanks for commenting.
@@allthingsag938 Well...change for the better hopefully! ha ha. I just ordered a ton of GTO 25's so hopefully they'll be decent. That was an interesting little video and I’m glad you included the ballistic gel test. It’s great that you passed on your thoughts and findings to BASC- they get a bad press from our own ranks but their approach is the only way forward in the current climate. Hi Marcus, good test mate.I'm in the.177 camp,my own testing has shown that unless it's a flat calm day, past 25m the lead-free pellets group like a shotgun! We really need a viable alternative to be developed! Keep safe and keep 'em coming👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍😎😎
Just a question did you clean the barrel as good groupings on both. I think other vids where they clean first get flyers which suggest as you use more non lead and lead coating in barrel deteriorates so will accuracy. Pellet lube might help
My testing with my HW110K .177 has shown similar results - comparable up to 25 but anything past that and the non lead really start opening up. My tuned HW99 .22 springer does MUCH better with non lead but still start opening up past 40. All we can hope is that the air rifle world can invest a fraction of the £££££££ that the shotgun world spent on non lead R&D.
Yes, I tried two tins of lead free(Baracuda green and JSB). I shoot outdoors at a local range and pest control. Both types were hopeless in my Impact and HW100 at 35 -50 yards and certainly not good enough for my pest control duties.

True enough Alex. It could be that the consumer will have to do the research for the consumer? My worry is that there is not enough known as no air gunners really use them, so no real data that would support mine and others findings.

I reckon the airgun/pellet manufacturers already know how to solve this,it will be a combination of a new design of barrel twist rate and a new blend of alloys for the pellets,no point in releasing them until a ban is actually put in place though
Ok yes sounds plausible. But if they have new alloys will they work with guns already purchased? This is one of the biggest fears from gun owners i think, so fingers crossed :).

The trouble is most countries don't have a power limit so they can tune their rifles to suit lead free. Agree that manufacturers will produce barrels to suit the pellets. Don't know if they will be retrofitted though, although I guess FX may do. They seem to be quite innovative.
I am going over to the tin as I mainly target shoot at 30-45 feet with cheaper pistols and rifles. I will wait before feeding my R10 though until results come out from other shooters.
Problem is not allot of shooters are testing. Leaving it to the manufacturers (who could be doing more in my opinion) or those of us who are willing to give them a go and see. Tin has to be proven, as if they are not and the ban comes in, it could kill the industry. They seem unreliable at longer ranges in clean barrels, but me at 20 yards and a non clean barrel, not to bad. More testing needed!
the problem with this kind of tests ,is barrels never the same .output power also and twist . and the batch of the pellets .and the guns of different brands , every one have to try the leadfree in there one gun and setting
Totally agree, just like you should with all pellets, Just because my 15.89's work for me, doesn't mean they will work for you. I went through so many before i settled on them.

Thanks Philip, glad to hear a good story. Too much negativity about things and no one give a solution. I have been playing with them more and the R10 up to 25 is good. Just have not had the time to go to the range for 30 and beyond.
You need to scrub out the barrel and Shoot several hundred lead free through to get a comparison worth anything, as there will still be lead in the barrel from previous pellets .
@@allthingsag938 That then opens up another can of worms- lube and O rings are never good together unless it’s pure silicone and any lube then introduces consistency issues with quantity and pellet weights.
