    One thing to note about scroll cake is that it uses regular physical calculation and not the weird arts one. So yes it's not a brave weapon but it's an iron sword that breaks bows, tomes, and daggers.

      Interesting but that's still not great anyways since you could just use a better art or use a staff to break those weapons

    • @justwantawholename
      @justwantawholename ปีที่แล้ว +9

      @@JustLoki35 the one specific case I have for it is that it does more damage than most arts when Alear uses it due to her attack being so much higher than defense. She doesn't have A rank for the better arts and her magic stat is pretty low.
      It's admittedly a small use case because if you are running support Alear she wants shielding art anyways. And a damage carry Alear wants off of divine dragon

      @@justwantawholename Interesting. Ordinarily, something with such a small use case may not be worth the inventory slot.
      But Alear is special. Free convoy access means she can just pull whatever weapon is optimal at will. She won't need to give anything up for this.
      Nice find.

    Fun fact about the iron body art: The Lyn and Miciah engrave can reduce it to -1 might.
    It will not reduce your strength, but will take one point away from any buffs that might be given to it.

    @holycrapitsachicken ปีที่แล้ว +11

    The main thing going for Steel Art is the fact that it is the highest rank that Martial Monk can use: C. It's the only art that martial monks and high priests can use that moves them from mini-boop to damage-dealer territory.

    Gotta say, I totally disagree with relay battles being a waste. They take less than 5 min to complete, the rewards for simply participating in a relay battle are decent(10% for master and second seals). You can do them as soon as you unlock the well. On my new run, I was able to get 10 master seals and 11 second seals before chapter 7. Took very little grinding too, plus I got some other great food items, stat boosters, and even steel/silver. I also like seeing other people's builds that they use for fun. Other than that, great breakdown like usual. One thing to note,
    My personal favorite build I am using atm,
    Kagetsu looks cool as a Martial master, and with his personal growths, you will still get the speed/dex leveled up as well and his personal skill fits the playstyle of the fisty cups. I personally like using him with Lucina. 100% Bondshield regardless of unit type is nice. Plus he gets +2 speed and dex from his personal stats. Assuming you are with dlc for starsphere, he will be a monster. With Lucina max bond and the speed fist, you have 39 base speed max without any skills. With speed/dex from chrom you have a max of 44 speed, along with 38 dex, and -10 avoid on enemies when you attack. But with the dlc there are quite a few different builds you can make. I just like the way her looks as Martial Master.
    Side note, I am annoyed they didn't add a poison fist weapon. I think that would have been cool instead of the poison lance you get as a smash weapon

    Best not to look at just the silver costs. 10 steel or 100 iron basically equivalent.
    A more complete look at Divine/Flashing/Silver at +5 with Mt and refinement costs from base:
    Mt Wt Gold Iron Steel Silver Net minerals (iron equivalent)
    Divine 16 12 25000 0 0 50 5000
    Flashing 14 9 7500 150 50 5 1150
    Silver 14 5 10000 850 60 10 2450
    Divine gives crit +20, and has 5 less hit than the others. Flashing fist gives speed +5, damage taken +5.
    And as a minor note, Mt upgrades for refinement levels 1-5 are: Silver: +2, +0, +2, +0, +2. Flashing and Divine are +1 every time. Flashing starts 1 stronger than silver, and gets tangible benefit from even refinement levels, giving it a steadier upgrade path. Divine is just... bad.
    There's no doubt in my mind that the preferred setup for a combat oriented martial master is a flashing fist art, a shielding art, and 3 staffs (or 2 and an elixir.) Silver can be par of a Divine Dragon or High Priest's kit, or a martial master before you have a Flashing Fist art. Divine just seems unviable.
    I just finished my maddening tinman run (near iron man, but I cheated a couple times.) I figured Mauvier had high and balanced Str and Mag, so he could make a good martial master, and running Eirika would help patch up the damage against high defense enemies.I also cooked/toniced up all his relevant stats to +2 for the final battle.
    While fighting the final boss, I think I had him draconic hexed. and got Mauvier between Viel and Alear. 25 damage per hit, quad striking. He could actually take out a full health bar with 100% reliability. A bunch of boosts, but no real power leveling.

    My problem with arts is that it uses the average of your str mag to calc damage... and worst of all is that all the non unique class that uses art have high magic growth.For unique classes, Alear isnt going to use b class arts as divine dragon,dancer be dancing. Enchanter have dagger as better alternative option.

      Currently running silver art and silver dagger for framme since her noodle arms started at 5bld. On the upside enchanter does have build growth so woo. She will get good use out of flashing after she gets a couple more bld. I think it might be fun to run a martial along with an enchanter then surge a divine fist and trade it to the martial.

      Thyrsus from Sage can poke Wyrms* from outside their attack range, as well as just turning one unit into a siege weapon in general, which is really sick. Luin from Flying and Failnaught from Covert are kinda neat I guess, but not nearly as much. A unit shouldnt need Luin to do damage, otherwise what is that unit really doing when not engaged? The rest kinda suck imo.

    Artes in general on the surface seem awful but with the right strategy you can do some silly but strong tho rarely optimimal strategies. If you need someone to one round that one remaining pest being carried by Erika it's good. Sadly I think there are better options for speed units + Erika cheesing due to the high risk factor of artes if you fail to dodge its gonna hurt like hell, using her on a thief/wolf knight it makes alot more sense because of their low strength growth but mad speed

  • @Weltallgaia
    @Weltallgaia ปีที่แล้ว +2

    One problem with flashing fist is that it weighs 9 and martial master doesn't have any build growth. So you gotta fix that before you can actually take full advantage of the +speed. Divine fist is great for having crit. Stick Lyn engrave on it. You lose some damage, but its MT is high anyways so that doesn't matter as much and you wind up with lower weight and like 50ish crit on a brave weapon which is absolutely psychotic. Dragon fist is absolutely cracked on someone like Ivy and I suspect zelestia as well. Bulky, relatively fast units with high magic. There really isn't an enemy in the game that they can't one round with it. That weapon makes it worth giving alear favorite food and you wind up with 8 rounds of dragon fist.

    Anna can 100% consistently one-turn Sombron Phase 1 on Maddening (No DLC, Fixed) with Flashing Fist and basic dancer support and no warps. Read More for details on setup:
    Step 1: The Anna needs to be set up from the jump. Speed is the bottleneck, so you'll actually be Second Sealing her into Sword Fighter at her base level, promoting at 10 to Swordmaster, then Second Sealing back to Martial Master at 12.
    This lets her cap Speed at MM 16, but for reasons I'll mention later you might opt for MM 20 if you can afford to overfeed or grind (via Chain Guard or resetting Somniel with Tempest abuse), but this is the minimum for the Sombron kills.
    2. The build itself: Speedtaker and Alacrity++ inherited, Eirika emblem (or Lunar Brace+ and Gentility+ with Lyn, but you'll need the Eirika to Engage either way. If she does use Lyn, you can do it quite a bit earlier than MM 16 and still use the lv 20 strat due to +Speed from ring).
    Weapon of choice is a Flashing Fist+5 engraved with Sigurd effect, which is the only one that reduces Wt without dropping Mt.
    3. The reason for 16 vs 20 is Build. With this level set, she gets a Build lv at 20. Sigurd-engraved Flashing Fist weighs Anna down by 1 without it, which keeps us from Quad'ing with a Tonic and the in-battle effects.
    If you get lv 20, Tonic her up and you're set.
    If you can only afford MM 16 (internally lv 39 btw), you'll need to cook up a Titled Candied Fruits or Potted Casserole for +3 Speed (Food doesn't stack with Tonics fyi). Anna herself is actually the best option to cook this, since she's Expert at Candied Fruits, vs Ivy's Capable at Potted Casserole. RNG the Fruits or Casserole to save 4 levels of slow grinding or about 2000 SP for the Lyn version.
    3.9. The only things left are to make sure Seadall has Boots and Canto+ or Sigurd, and the Byleth user is Mounted.
    4. Game time. Anna needs a Speedtaker proc, so delete one of the Halberdiers (she has more than enough speed and damage for this solo). Then have Seadall Dance her, and Canto into a place where Byleth's user can Dance both him and the tile below Sombron (where Anna will go). Special Dance gives Anna the final speed bump for her to quad Sombron. By the time you get her Speed capped, her Str and Mag will have grown enough for this Flashing Fist to do over 33 dmg per hit while Eirika is Engaged, so even if you didn't have 100 hit she'll easily kill a bar. Goddess Dance Anna and Seadall, then attack and break the second stone. Finally, dance with Seadall again and break the last bar.
    As for why Alacrity++, well... Sombron kills her if he gets two shots, and you have three bars to clear.

    • @researchinbreeder
      @researchinbreeder ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes, this is really impractical.
      But it's also funny.

    • @researchinbreeder
      @researchinbreeder ปีที่แล้ว

      Minor update to the above:
      I might possibly be daft. Just inherit Speed+5 on the MM 16 version, that's equal to [Speedtaker+Meal], and gives 2 speed worth of wiggle room with Tonic (It lets you go at MM 12, internal 35, with calculated margins). And you even have a spare skill slot if you have a Physic user on deck to skip Alacrity++.
      Personally I recommend using the 3k SP saved from not using Alacrity++ to buy Luck+12. MM 12 build with Eirika Bond 20 and Luck+12 has 46% chance per bar to steal Sombron's pocket change. And really, isn't that the real victory?

    I was able to rush Brodia level 5 right after chapter 8 on my current DLC run and Divine Fist has been extremely lackluster. I managed to keep Framme at level 1 until I got starsphere, and even then she doesn't really pop off with it. Her build growth is so bad that she is still being weighed down by it by chapter 20, and her speed isn't high enough to quad without flashing fist. Most kills that are given to her are using Parthia anyway for the double exp. And the upgrade costs on this thing are so insane that I haven't even gotten the +1.
    The positive side is that 10% crit is quite nice when you quad, since that's almost half chance that at least one attack crits. I think there is potential as a post game weapon but not very useful during the main story.
    If only we got an epilogue instead of a xenologue, then S tier weapons might actually be usable.

    Lunar brace seems good but its honestly kinda a trap. At basic level it takes 50 defence for you to get 10 attack, + is somewhere around 30 defence for 10 damage. Considering enemy max stats, its almost always better to have weapon power instead unless you can afford lunar brace+. (Obviously not applicable to arts and other weapons without weapon power)

    I just thought of turning my Celine into a martial monk or whatever the second tier fist fighter is called. Since she’s got decent magic and strength but no not much speed. The fists will give her that doubling and I already built up the flashing fist just for funsies because I had Alear become one of those S rank fist people for funsies (I started a run where I used all dlc benefits except the xenologue since it came out after I started the play through, and I’ve been trying to get her to be a magic based sword fighter, I paired her with chrom for the plus 10 magic and speed increase because he has speed/dex plus 5 and I have a +5 edelgard bonus(I think) levin sword which allows her to double, she has some avoid so I get lucky dodges sometimes, and the damage put out is pretty good) But a full on player phase fisting Celine sounds fun and I just completed the dlc for my 3rd run which I’m already 35 hours into, and Zelestias good counterpart comes with pretty decent magic and attack and 2000 sp so I gave her the levin sword and I’m trying to build her up to be a better flying Celine. But I still want to use Celine so fishing it is

    I think flashing fist arts is your end game weapon if you run martial master. The speed +5 it gives and cheap upgrades ahould beat all other arts. Speed plus is also beneficial because for some reasons, martial master speed is capped at 28 which is low compared to some other classes. It just does not make sense to me for this class. They fight barehands and punching things, so they supposed to be fast right?

    imo dragons fist is the best fist weapon, and possibly the best player phase weapon in the game. pure magic is an upside, 10 mt on something that quads is ridiculous, it only attacking res is even more bonkers, as most enemies have more def than res, either by a little or a lot, save mages and griffins. I remember on my first playthrough of normal mode, I had ivy use the dragon fists and take away about 40% of sombrons hp... eith his 80% damage reduction shield up.
    also another thing, I believe arts are flawed i their damage calculation, and more importantly, the classes that have them.
    overall... honestly I think dragon art is top 5 weapons simply because anyone can use it with a B support alear, mages are ridiculous in this game (anna, ivy, hort, celine, citrine are all easily accessible, very commonly used, and extremely high mag) and just... good god
