I can’t even begin to express how much of a positive impact you have had on my life as a mother. I used to be so uptight and you help me to let things go and just relax and just work with what I have. Thank you so much. I listen to all your podcasts and rewatch your old videos :) you are such a positive inspiration
I am blown away by your enthusiasm for doing things the “old-fashioned” way!!! It brings up so many memories of how my Kansas Mennonite grandparents did it!! It’s truly a dying art to use things and make things from what the land and the animals have given you!!! Seeing someone so young like you take on this endeavor with true commitment and dedication is incredibly inspiring!!! Really great job!!!!!!😊
I’m 80 years old now and sewed a lot in years past and now it’s usually only to hem or alter or mend things but I learned something from you today when you were sewing your drapes. You had your machine further away from you which gave you a flat work area in front of you instead of having the machine right up to the edge of the table like I do. Never too old to learn a different way of doing something from you youngin’s. I will do this next time I sew. Donna
I am extremely impressed by how much you get done everyday-especially while pregnant. I'm pregnant with #6 and I feel barely functional. You inspire me!
If I were to have my American dream this would be what it looks like. But, those are not the paths the Lord has given me to walk and I love that you get to do it and all those kids get to enjoy it too! I love that you are preserving a piece of history by keeping things classy and old fashioned yet so stunning and cozy!
A home is for making memories and bringing comfort to those we love. I decided long ago that perfection for me, was the laughter and sound of bare feet running around the table that I just cleaned and immediately had little hand prints on it. My children are now young adults and I don’t remember which days the table looked perfect but I remember the laughter and the sounds of little feet.
Nothing makes me happier than to hear you younger ladies say you are introducing color to your home. Color and contrast just make a home cozy and warm to me. Along with real wood furniture and old time brass accents pushes the feeling even further. Love how it all looks.
Such a romantic lifestyle. I’m getting ready for work with you this morning. You inspired me to some additional productivity I might’ve saved for the evening, or procrastinated until tomorrow. Wonderful attitude ☺️
This was fun to watch. Recently when we were at our daughters after baby number 6 her husband gave me an ice cream bucket of cream so my daughter doesn’t think she has to make something.(they have 2 cows and a cream separator so when the milk piles up they separate). Anyway I had so much fun using up the cream. The last of it I made into butter in the blender just like you did. Back in the day we’d turn and turn with a glass butter churn so much easier in the blender. It’s neat to see young moms(and dads) go back to doing things like we used to when we thought buying in the store is better it isn’t!!
We used a non-vinyl wallpaper in the dining room. Did two things. 1. It has a white background so I used wet tea bags to rub and lightly turn it antique looking. 2. I sealed it with water based clear finish so it would wash. Both worked wonders.
I had yellow curtains and yellow floral wallpaper growing up. I did not appreciate it at the time, but looking back, I am grateful for my Mother’s decor style. Also yellow is said to be a very calming wall color.
Lisa, your home and decor life is a pleasure to observe!!! Love the way you avoid sweating the small stuff ( a drawer for each kid)!!! Keep the small touches alive that mean so much, e.g. wildflower arrangement on the table, bleaching items, bringing touches of color in the home where you can!! Congrats!!!
I love that you have used the gifts of imperfections in your decor! Children are only young for a short while and messy fingers are a part of life. Faded and well loved pillows are wonderful! It means life is happening in your home.
Your home is absolutely amazing. You are an inspiration on homemaking. I wish you had been around 15 yrs ago. I could have used your enthusiasm! 😊 Your family is so blessed to have you as a wife and mom.
My husband has a decorating company, he always refused to put wallpaper up for me but I insisted on a wallpaper mural I totally fell in love with from Rebel Walls and finally he agreed to do it. He had a top coat of special varnish applied that makes it wipeable and more resistant you should look in to it, not sure what it would be in the US but there are various varnishes that do this here in the UK.
I have been watching this channel since before you moved onto your homestead! And now I will get to be a momma too!! Got to rewatch that Sala baby wrap video 😊😊🎉😂
I wanted a yellow kitchen and bought a lot of different samples to figure it out. I finally cracked the code on the perfect yellow. The trick is to watch the undertones…some are too green and some are too brown or orange. The one I found with the best balance was “Lighthouse” by Benjamin Moore.
I love it when you do this kind of video, I enjoy seeing the decor and how you manage so much with a house full of kids. The rooms are lovely and homey and lived in....just as it should be.
Fully agree with the feeling of making everything from scratch! My biggest flex is giving people ranch when they come over and they go you made this and I get to say yes and the yogurt and the mayonnaise that’s in it
Seeing you do housework in this video.whilst lying down in my pajamas made me feel tired 😅 you are amazing 😍 simply in love with your videos and podcasts. Im a single woman in my 30s but i yearn to have this life. Newbie addicted to your videos.
I love your farmhouse! My Grandmother always let us run through the farmhouse and she always seemed to not mind - although I'm sure she did. Miss her so much! 🌻
If you just want an ironed hem and don’t already have your iron out, I’ve used a curling iron or flatiron for hair to just press the hem. That’s what I use periodically on my ribbons too.
Your dairy products look delightful. Blueing is a really nice way to refresh whites. Your home is so lovely. Green and peach are my favorite pops of color. I once had walls of lightest peach. The way the light played on it changing throughout the day was beautiful.
After straining the whey, I add in vanilla extract and honey. It’s my favorite! Also, the whey is great for making bread and a fertilizer for your plants.
Like I always say you are wonder woman. Love your spring cleaning and added color and layers to your home. A house without layers feels cold to me and your home is so appealing.
😍 your curtains look fabulous!!! My mom used to sew, I want to cultivate that skill too. Thanks for being such an inspiration this morning! I just discovered your channel 💕
Watching you reminds me of my "old" self as a young mother with not a lot of money, making my girls dresses, refinishing old furniture, cooking dinner very night, always looking for thrift shop finds. I tore up the all to wall and redid the hardwood, painted cabinets, etc. I'm 70 in a week but I yearn for those days. Both my girls just go to Wayfare or Home Goods. They just don't know what they could do if they tried. But they both work.😟
I am fairly new to your channel and i honestly have fallen in love with your content. Thank you for sharing traditional, homesteading. You've inspired me to make more things from scratch like breads and baked goods and to cook with butter. Thank you
Love your videos always, but ones like this, are so fun and inspiring to watch. I live alone but still enjoy homemaking. You have a beautiful home and homestead. God bless your wonderful family.
The color is such a joy to see in your home. The beginning and end of the butter was very satisfying to watch, now I will be on the hunt for a butter mold when I'm Antiquing! Thank you Lisa.
I have the same butter mold. It belonged to my grandmother and I made butter growing up and measuring it out in this in 1# blocks. I loved seeing you use one!
I’ve been watching this while eating hot oats and ginger on a lazy Saturday morning. Now I’m inspired to collect a bundle of flowers from my Australian Autumn garden and make my house pretty too. Thank you for sharing. I hope you are looking after yourself in this familiar journey towards a new baby.🇦🇺🦘
Yellow is a love or hate color. We had just painted our bedroom yellow at move in time and a dear friend who was helping us move in, said: "yeah you can always change these yellow walls for sure" 😂 you'd think he would have smelled the paint in the room!! 😅 Note we loved it!
We make our yogurt in our instapot( as I think you do). We cook it for at least 12 hours. We strain it with cheese cloth for another 12 hours at least and it gets pretty firm.
Thank you for restoring my faith I lost my husband to cancer and watching you make me wish even more that we had had more than 2 children 44 and 42 I just turned 60 those are memories to cherish for ever God bless you and your family
I finally scored a wooden butter mold at an antique store for $22 I've past many up for being pricier. I am glad to see that you lined with parchment and using your blender...and you make it look simple. Thank you.
I’m in New Mexico and if we don’t pull the elm trees we will have a forest 🤦🏻♀️ and they grow so dang fast 😱 . I love these videos!! Very beautiful and wholesome!
I love your channel so much. I look forward to every video. We are like minded in so many ways, especially about making the home a special place filled with everyday necessities as well as comfort and beauty. Blessings to all of you!
For the yogurt, try adding a can of sweetened condensed milk when you start the yogurt. Then strain it for the thickness you like. It ends up really good. You can also add dried milk powder in the beginning, to thicken it without having to strain.
Do bead board on the bottom half of your wall pierce walls. You will have the best of both worlds. Cleanable bottom and the beautiful viewing of the wall paper !
I say on another video that if you want to turn down your top sheet you should put it on the bed right side down. Then when you turn the top down it’s the pretty side.
I love making thing from scratch and doing things the way our grandmothers did. I get so inspired by watching you and enjoy knowing that there are others who also love and thrive in this lifestyle.
I finally took the plunge into sour dough after watching your channel for about 4 years. I got some starter from a gal at church and used your sandwhich bread recipe and my goodness my family is in love. We are going through a loaf a day and loving every slice. Thank you
I've been falling in love with stenciling! It's so much more stress-free than wallpaer! Would be obsessed to see you try some sometime...there are amazing ones out there and super cool color combination ideas🤩.
Your lifestyle is a dream and goal of mine. But like you mentioned in a previous video, you can start homesteading skills without having the farm. And that's exactly what I'm doing! Having our own raw milk, and making cheese is my dream. Also looking forward to summer to start gardening again:) Thank you for your inspirational videos.
Yum! My daughter makes her own dairy products and has been involved in many farm to table programs. Lots of love goes in to these naturally nutritious products. Your bed looked so inviting and curtains are looking awesome…
Blessed!!! That’s how this video made me feel!🌷 Thank you for the encouragement to all of us! We’re almost to the season transition as well, it’s always bittersweet! ⛄️🌷💕
Hi Lisa. Loved this video! Your home is beautiful. We also live in a victorian and I love wallpaper too but it does get knocked around with kids. Our house had dado rails (or chair rails? I'm not sure) with wooden bead board or paneling below which we painted with washable waterbased enamel. I put wallpaper on the upper part of the wall above the rail. I think it's the best of both worlds. A super cleanable and tough surface on the bottom of the wall and pretty paper above. The bonus is that you need less wallpaper that way so you can use a more expensive paper if you like. Have a wonderful spring!
Your bed turned down looks beautiful..... and, your new curtains ( the soft ones ) are so lovely...... looks so cozy & lovely in your bedroom. Beautiful, as always, Lisa.... : )
hi Lisa, I just finished this video and am so grateful for you and the fact that there are women out there that home make and are proud of it! when my children were young it was frowned upon everyone would keep asking me .... where do you work ,what is your career? I told them homemaking and you could see the look on there face like , oh... what do you do all day ,!!!!! I would tell them to follow me along sometime and they then understood there is so much to learn and do at home!!! I love homemaking, always have and always will , love watching you and your videos, 😃
Lisa thank you for inspiring us all! It is so comforting to see how you raise your family and farm with good old fashioned values. May God bless you always!!!
The drapes for your boy’s rooms are beautiful! Love the check fabric! Love the whole video. You’ve inspired me to start spring cleaning even though its been very cold here in Colorado!
"Ricotta" means "cooked again," so cooking the whey is an important step in making it 🙂 kudos for being so economical with the whey, I generally let the chickens utilize it when we're flush with milk and make yogurt cheese instead 🙂
I also do the clothing swap in May and October, and it is my least favorite chore! But the timing works well because there is a huge consignment sale in our town in both May and October, so it works out great if I can inventory what we have and need before the sale.
When many of these famous brands have wonderful accessories and cosmetics that are an affordable splurge for the average person, they shouldn’t be so off putting when we want to look at other things in the store. One of my hobbies is sewing my own clothing, and inspiration comes from all over.
I love watching you clean and spruce up your farmhouse. You are so inspiring. I don't know where you get all your energy, but keep up the inspiring videos. I love the fresh raw milk we were getting from a local dairy farm. We don't have a dairy cow, but we have chickens. Please show us more videos on how to use the raw milk. I have made butter, but I haven't made cheese yet. I will have to go get more raw milk from a local farm here. God bless you real good! Diana
I love your house!! 😍 Have you thought about putting wainscoting on the lower part of the wall and just have wallpaper on the top part? We don't have kids at home but we have pets and I was thinking of doing this in our house.
You are such an inspiration, I enjoy all of your videos and podcasts! I’m that making from scratch person 😅 people like to say I do things the hard way, but it’s so satisfying and good for you! Thanks for all your inspiring content my friend 😊
I love your videos and podcast Lisa. We are currently not on a farm but plan to buy 16 acres and a farmhouse from my in-laws eventually. Your videos have been so encouraging for me to be content with where I am now and build those homesteading and from scratch cooking skills now in anticipation of having our own farm someday.
It's always nice to add color to a neutral colored room. It's the first thing I can do while waiting for color in the yard. I don't dare pick the first brave blooms in case the rest take their sweet time opening. I'm always anxious to add new wall color to at least one wall (in case it's not the look I want). But, the ONE thing I look most forward to is warm spring air gently blowing the curtains. Years ago when my washer/dryer was in the basement, I always bought wonderful scented dryer sheets. My dryer vented under my dining room window. So, when it was warm enough I would open that window and run the dryer. It would make the house feel like Spring time. Another bonus of that dryer vent was I would plant a small tomato plant under the vent. It LOVED that warm moist heat and I had the biggest, juiciest delicious tomatoes.
A vinyl wallpaper appropriate for kitchen and baths would wash handprints off easier and most do not look “plastic” looking. OR use a wainscoting on the lower half or more where little fingers touch and just wallpaper above it. Part of the reason little hands touch the wall going upstairs is that handrails are often beyond their reach.
Lisa, you are a clear example of doing things as onto the Lord. Very inspiring!! I have talked to my husband about your channel, how you have a beautiful work drive and never seem to be tired. Always working! Very encouraging... I know you have mentioned before that you are a Believer, and i was wondering if you could share a video of your quiet time. Unless that's too personal, then I totally respect that. Love, from Texas!
I love your videos. I love that you let the kids be kids and include them in videos. I love seeing the dog 🐕 and animals. Your home is beautiful and your videos are always so enjoyable.
About yogurt the insta pot depending on the model I guess has two yogurt functions an 8 hour and a 24 hour. I have found that the 24 hour setting is a much lower temperature. 24 hour yogurt is actually less sour than 8 hour yogurt if your incubation temp is lower. You can shop around for your favorite when I made homemade yogurt I used mountain high from the store it was a WIC type so it was free at the time. It has a drawing of a cow with green grass and dark blue sky it's not a sour yogurt at all you can eat it unsweetened even small children will be fine with it unsweetened as long as they aren't too accustomed to sweet things. It is thick and creamy and needs less sweetener. If that yogurt is at your store it's a good starter for homemade yogurt. And it was always really easy to pick up at the store.
You are lucky to have spring! We been having a cold spring so far in California. Yesterday, was our first warm day. Today, back to being cold. Such a weird weather this year in my state. 😩
People can keep their Kardashian, bachelor and stranger things obsessions. I just love sitting and watching your homemaking/ simple life videos.
I appreciate that, thank you!
I was with you until Stranger Things. My 80s heart has a soft spot for its first season! 😂
@@vidz953same! 😂. Stranger things is awesome.
Exactly!
@@vidz953 sorry I really don’t watch a lot of tv, those are just the ones that popped in my head when I wrote my comment.

Same! I’m always in a better mood after watching.
Yes! I can listen to Lisa talk all day! 🥰
Really great job!!!!!!😊
thank you!

I'm pregnant as well. It's very impressive how much she can accomplish. I can't even bend over 😅

I am exhausted just watching how much you work - you have so much energy !
You have these genius nuggets of ideas packed away in these vlogs.. like how the butter keeps for long and using leftover fat for shining cast iron.
Try using a different starter culture for smoother, creamier, less tart yogurt

We used fabric-backed wallpaper for our home when the kids were little. You can wash it and it's easily removed.
Lisa you are just amazing. I love watching you challenging yourself to take on projects and succeed . Thank you for sharing your incredible life😍
hi Lisa, I just finished this video and am so grateful for you and the fact that there are women out there that home make and are proud of it! when my children were young it was frowned upon everyone would keep asking me .... where do you work ,what is your career? I told them homemaking and you could see the look on there face like , oh... what do you do all day ,!!!!! I would tell them to follow me along sometime and they then understood there is so much to learn and do at home!!! I love homemaking, always have and always will , love watching you and your videos, 😃
You are so right!
Your channel is both inspiring and relaxing. Thank you!
Omgosh!..when do you sit down and rest..I adore your home and beautiful children ..Awesome Mum and Dad..G"Luck with your next birthing..♥
Your home is just so beautiful! I love your decor style ! Great video 😊
When many of these famous brands have wonderful accessories and
cosmetics that are an affordable splurge for the average person, they shouldn’t be so off putting when we want to look at other things in the store. One of my hobbies is sewing my own clothing, and inspiration comes from all over.
I use my immersion blender in my homemade Greek yogurt to mix in my honey or maple syrup and it makes it so creamy. 😊
Vinyl wallpaper is fabulous in high traffic areas.
I love a simple linen curtain in the warm months and a heavier, more grand curtain in the cold months.
Everything looks beautiful! I love the fabric you chose for the drapes.
Everytime I see y'all's farm, the house that barns I love it what a beautiful place.God has blessed y'all with.
This was one of my favorite vlogs….going from cow to table with your dairy products is so satisfying to watch 🥛🧀🧈
I love learning from other women. My friend came to stay and layered throw blankets in a way i never had and i only do it that way now
You are lucky to have spring! We been having a cold spring so far in California. Yesterday, was our first warm day. Today, back to being cold. Such a weird weather this year in my state. 😩
We just had two days of near freezing temps here too!
