      how did you install the lights on your gerads? we have a 2009 beaver that we are looking to install led lights onto and we are also looking for under the slide lights but don't have any outside power source except for in the bay areas. Thank you !

    • @DavidBott
      @DavidBott  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ran 12V to the roof where I put the Wi-Fi controller and then ran the wires down the inside of the arms. As far as putting LEDs underneath your slide outs, remember your slide outs are perfectly sealed you can always put power out the rubber seal. For example our rear ones come out from underneath the bed where we has 12V running by. Good luck.

      David Bott Thanks David. I look forward to reading your blog and watching more of your videos. BTW, I watched your video on the WInegard antenna upgrade. I put the device in my Tiffin today (easy install) and it works like a charm, TV tuning is easy now. I'm also going to get the same tire pressure monitor you have as well. All the best :-)

    My wife and I have been sitting on the RV fence since we both retired from the hectic but satisfying corporate world back in in 2012. We were both nearing 60 at the time. Back then we kicked around the idea of picking up the RV life and running with it. Upon retirement, we sold our home and a rental condo and moved into a new, very well equipped apartment in while pondering our next move. Two years later a dream home rental came on the market here in Westminster, CO and we jumped.
    For $2,500 a month (same monthly rent as the apartment), we now live in a very rural, quiet and peaceful slice of Denver. The owner has given us the option to purchase in 2 years.
    After watching your video and many others, we have finally come to the conclusion that the RV life is no longer an option for us, though the notion is very seductive indeed.
    When one takes the time to factor in fuel, maintenance, depreciation, park fees, and other associated cost that are inherent with living life on the road, the notion to put those 6 wheels in motion simply does not make great economical sense. We can live in our beautiful rental, parks and ranching operations all around, have our grand children with us while my wife and I manage our home based businesses, and feel very content.
    We can travel at will both in and out of country and return to our stationary, quiet, LAND HOME! As much as we have enjoyed and loved traveling across this great country of ours, staying put makes the most economical sense, especially when factoring in our desire to be with our children and grandchildren as often as we can.
    Traveling with 2 cats seems a bit scary to me as much as I love animals. The stress of trying to keep and maintain a rig of your size in good operating order while towing your 'get around vehicle' would seem to add an additional layer of unneeded stress. The more RV videos I watch the more I have come to cherish our stationary life style. And living in those tight quarters for extended periods of time would now drive me over the top.
    The older I get the more I have come to appreciate my space and I now my wife feels the same way. I have my garage, basement and beautiful grounds to put around in when taking a break from my consulting work. My wife has her own office, sewing room, bedroom and huge bathroom with walk-in closet. Living in Colorado is expensive, but I'm now convinced it's not as expensive as the life style you have chosen, even if your rig is paid for. And how can you put a price tag on minimizing stress?
    We wish you the best of luck in your future traveling endeavors, we pray for fair winds and smooth sailing while staying safe! And thank you for sharing a bit of your life with the world. Blessings...

      Tom Stiveson Thank You for saying everything that I'm " THINKING ! " .
      I'm really out there looking at different companies that make these beautiful Rv's , but at the same time ....... I'm thinking like you and your wife .
      I live in Brazil and Germany as well and Switzerland when I want to see really close friends , So now I'm wondering..... When and where do I park and lock up this Monster ?!
      And then once I come back ... It's back on the road again ?!
      It's so so much to think about .
      One tire blow out could be 380.00 to 600.00 dollars , and that's just the tire issue !
      I don't drink nor do I smoke , but have you ever seen one of these huge monsters catch on fire ???!!
      They burn down within " Seconds !! " .
      It's so much to think about .
      As a Veteran I hoped to see United States more in a positive beautiful way . But due to Trump .... I don't know . I know Europe and other parts better than United States ! Because African Americans are just welcomed as a " Man ! " whose interested in their country and way of life .
      Here in America I'm just this " black man " with some money and this really nice Rv , ( That I don't want written on ! , with ignorance by stupid people ) .
      Here it's a lot to think about .
      But it sure does look fun !
      I'm ready .... But everything and I mean ( EVERYTHING ) you said was right on point !
      I wish you and your wife a Cool , Relaxing , " Quiet " Retirement .... You deserve it ! 👍

      Everyone is different and has a different idea of how they want to live. While this type of living would stress you out others don't want to sit around in one place waiting to die. To each their own as they say. Looks like you made the right choice for you and your wife.

    • @sublime929
      @sublime929 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Stop feeling sorry for yourself and put the race card back in your pocket. Ignorance like that is why we have such an issue now. Trump will only improve our way of life and do good for the country, go get educated on FACTS and stop watching tv and believing everything people tell you.

      Hi...Not sure you are aware, but we are now going into our 4th year. So time really does fly. :) I mention this as this video you commented on was the 1 year video and we just yesterday released our 3rd year video. :)

    • @donwat91
      @donwat91 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      David Bott , sorry about the year comment. But I remember your videos. I agree this isn't camping. I don't call my unit a RV , I call mine a coach as well. Of course mine didn't cost as much as yours. You've got a beautiful coach.
      I'm not a full timer..... yet. waiting on some friends to retire a 3rd time to travel some with me. Some like traveling by themselves , I'm not one. I like to have friends enjoy the sites . There's lot to see here in the U.S. We've all traveled the world together, we all retired Air Force Flyers. We have plans to travel one last time Germany and Italy for 3 months and that will be the last overseas trip.
      You guys enjoy , talk to you again sometime.

    Thanks guys! Now, my wife and I only did FT for a few years and we really did have a great time. One of the major reasons we stopped was the 'parking lot' atmosphere but that was back in the 90's. I'm sure facilities have changed. To this day, coffee is the most essential 'supplement'! Even when we use to rough it, Cowboy coffee was with us every morning.
    It would be great to see a similar video of your favorite and least favorite areas and campground issues. Oh, we did settle for a small farm in Oregon, without close neighbors:))

    • @DavidBott
      @DavidBott  9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      We surely have been to our fair share of campgrounds that have, well, "issues". But we are not ones to really put a place down and point our flaws etc. We try to take a more positive approach if we can. But yup, we have even pulled out of parks. We do have a lot of videos on places we have been that we had flown with the quadcoptor and we usually write about it also in our blog with a link provided in the video text.
      And yes, I have my coffee right next to me.

    Hi, I really like your home. We are "not retired yet newbies:)." We just bought a 40ft. 2005 Holiday Rambler Endeavor. We really like it. My husband though, would love to have a tag axle (is that what you call the one like yours?)and a bigger motor. Yet, we're having fun when we do get to go:) His vacation always starts in July. He has four weeks a year. So our first long trip will be to Louisiana. To see my family. We're in GA. where I was born but I also lived in New Orleans. My family is there. We can't wait to take it, on a longer trip. Right now the we only go about 2 hours away from home. It's so relaxing just to see and spend the day and night in different places:) Even if it's not far from home. We're raising our 14 year old granddaughter. She loves swimming and meeting other kids at the camps:) She's homeschooled. My husband has four years until retirement so we take off for a day and a half and HAVE FUN!! I have a question. I see you have cats. Now, I can see y'all love them:) Yet, I do kind of feel sorry that they can't go outside. How do y'all and they handle that? Also, are they declawed? I started my cat out to be an inside cat. She cried so badly to go out. I finally just gave in. We lived in the country. I really like your videos and y'all are both so funny.I just recently came upon your station. I cracked up when your wife went hopping across the front of the coach. When you were showing something about your camera or a motion detector. I can't remember. I just remember laughing:)

    Of all of the coaches I have had ( 8 ), The allegro Bus was the worse. Maybe I just got a lemon, but I would never buy another.
    The bottoms of all drawers were thin and stapled, the same with the overhead cabinets. Within a few months they were sagging in the middle.
    The inside wood trims would fall off as I was driving down the road.
    The latches on the kitchen drawers were all faulty and the drawers would open while driving.
    Both the side drivers shade and the passengers side shades broke within months.
    The awning leaked at the roof line from the first time we used it until the last, even though we had tried to have them fix it twice.
    Good luck with it. I dumped mine after 6 months.

    LOL. I've always liked motor coaches and the tours of the living amenity's for some reason. Yours was hilarious! Shower "revile" busted me up.
    Keep on living that happy life.
    Being a cat person can I recommend a happy cat fix? Look into a min cat tree with a few levels and a telescoping pole that you can take in and out of the dash area.

    For what it's worth, when you run fans exhausting air from components, you create negative air pressure in that cabinet. Some people prefer it, but watch out for extra dust buildup. If you can find a spot where you can input fresh air as well, it'll do you some good.

    • @DavidBott
      @DavidBott  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Carlos Reyes Hi Carlos. You always want to remove hot air from any electrics area. The creation of negative air pressure is what you want as air pressure will always find a way in. Seeing there are may open large cable holes in the that area, new air coming in is not an issue. The idea is to remove heat, not allow for build up as it was in this case as the air could not be forced out quick enough and heat then climbs. David Bott I'm thinking from making PCs here. you're just trying to cool the general cabinet area as opposed to the individual electronic component? Eventually I want to build or refurbish these things, and tech is very important to me.

    I finally got to chance to watch your video here... Totally Outstanding...

    I also love that techie things... besides your new product CoachProxy, I also love that product you talk to and it answered you back with the weather...
    What's the name of that product? Do you have a link?

    David and Brenda, thank you for your video. I thought it had some useful tips. There is one thing David shared, with which I disagree. It is turning the blower fans to blow hot air out of the cabinet instead of blowing outside air into the cabinet.
    Air flow will be significantly increased by blowing cooler air into and through the cabinet to be cooled, than if one attempts to blow hot air out of the heated cabinet.
    This is due to the density difference between cooler air vs. hotter air. The direction of airflow was purposely done by the engineers. A fixed pitch fan blade will "bite" and move a much greater volume of cool air, than the same fan blowing warmer air. It is a matter of physics.

    • @DavidBott

      Hi James, thanks for your thoughts. In this case you need to remove the hot air out of the small cavity the gear is in. Cooler air will always find it's way in due to air pressure vs trying to force air in and the air not being able to get out and actually building heat (Static pressure build due to air not being able to get out;). I did tests and the difference in this case was 137 degrees inside with the air going IN vs 114 with it being drawn out.
      And remember, it is not always cool air that would be blown in as if you are running heat, then you would be adding heat into the cavity vs AC air.
      I have worked with A/V gear and cooling companies for many years. Getting the hot air out from around gear is alway preferred if you only the the option of one fan. A fan setup with air coming in and out is best. (Which I ended up doing in this case and then removed all that poor gear that was used that was never meant to be in that much heat. Per the manual, max operating temp was 100F and the outside of the cases read 147!!!)
