  • Hi! I homeschool 4 of my kids ages 11, 9 year old twin boys, and a 5 year old boy. I had lots of requests to post our NEW updated schedule for this year, since my little one started Kindergarten. I hope this helps you and you can find inspiration for your own schooling. We are finding happiness and peace in our homeschool life, and my purpose is to share that with all of you! It is possible!

    Thank you so much for sharing this! I'm a first time mom of a 1 year old who is also expecting baby #2 next year. I'm also a former elementary teacher and reading specialist who intends on homeschooling. Your videos and attitude is so inspiring and the love you have for your children just radiates. I love seeing a mom so passionate about motherhood and education! Thank you again!!

    Thank you for always chiming in on what your 5-year-old is doing, as a new HS mom of littles I tend to compare what we are doing to mom's with older kids.

    • @monsonschoolhousewithmikae2903
      @monsonschoolhousewithmikae2903  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      never compare ;) seriously the little ones focus for maybe 20 minutes at a time. he is all over the place lately. I let him play and be squirly most of the day. but guess what, he is totally progressing! His reading is improving and his math is totally improving... it is such a huge improvement I am almost like "who else is teaching him?!" the Lord is teaching him! The Lord will fill in those gaps for you. let them be little and it will all workout :) ps even my older boys can't sit for very long ;)

    I already had my mind made up to homeschool my kiddos but when I found your videos, you made me fall in love all over again with all the reasons we chose this path for our family! My son is 2 and my daughter is 1 so I still have a while before we really start "schooling" but watching your videos really gives me such a peace and confidence that I can really do this. You rock!

      sweetest comment!!! My love goes right back to you! You are better than me, and your kids are luckier, they will get to start at home and you will get to experience every moment with them! If I could go back, I would homeschool them from the start, I missed so much... but going forward God has given me this opportunity and blessing, I am eternally grateful and that I can help and share this with everyone here. Much love to you. I can't wait to hear all about your story when you start!

    Great video! So inspiring. I have two kids (5 and 3 1/2) and a third on the way 😅I know I’m going to have my work cut out for me for a few years here. But i know it will get easier as they grow. I loved being able to see how your family operates. And I adore your scripture study idea. Definitely going to start that one. :)

    If there is no daylight yet forget about me going anywhere especially the gym! haha I admire people who can do that though. Its takes discipline that I clearly lack! Scripture time is such a treasure. My kids are very young still but my oldest daughter who is 4 is starting to understand more about Jesus and its amazing what she absorbs! As we approach very uncertain times its so critical our kids see faith in action and really get for themselves how much Spiritual things matter. May you and your family have a Merry Christ filled Christmas!

    I have to tell you....I found your channel this past month or so and have been slowly watching random videos as I have time. You talk about being led by the Spirit so often and allowing the Spirit to teach through you and to guide your decisions. I am a Christian homeschooling mom to five kids and agree wholeheartedly but I found myself wondering if I was truly actively pursuing this discipline (not quite sure what to call it) on a daily, moment by moment basis. I watched a couple videos of yours both last night and this morning and really felt like the Lord was telling me to pursue and explore this more so that it would become more natural to me. I have been praying about it, and here's what I opened my Bible to this morning (a daily reading program I'm following): Romans 8:14 "For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God." and Romans 8:5 "For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit." !!! Amazing how the SPIRIT led me straight to these verses to encourage and teach me exactly what He's wanting me to learn. Just wanted you to know for a fact that God is using you. Thank you for making these videos and allowing the Spirit to speak through you.

    • @monsonschoolhousewithmikae2903
      @monsonschoolhousewithmikae2903  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      wow, I have chills as I read your words, and the verses you shared!!! They are TRUTH! They speak God's words. You ARE being led by the Spirit and He is using YOU and teaching you as you teach your children. Thank you for this, it truly made my weekend. There have been so many times where the adversary tells me those lies like "stop you youtube channel" and "no one needs your message anymore" and "you have nothing left to share". All those lies to dim my light and stop me. I haven't made a video in a while because I have been waiting on the SPirit to show me what needs to be heard. I wait on the Lord. I am feeling like I will make a video on my purpose here, which is to share the LIght of Christ. I feel it was never actually homeschooling, although that has helped MANY people and myself, but it is to share the Light of Christ and that we need to always seek Him and listen and act! God bless you and your family. you are so close to the Lord, I feel it in your message! love mikael

    Hi! I loved hearing about your schedule...ive been using TGTB for the first time with my kids (10, 7, 4, and 2 yr olds) this year (our 3rd year homeschooling). It is nice to hear about your "juggling" I completely agree thats how it feels. I'm wondering when you fit in housework? Do you involve your kids in on it, and how? My kids help for about 1 hour a day with housework, and help in kitchen, do their own laundry (7 & 10 yr old)...I feel like if the house is clean and school is done we dont have fun for "fun" outside of school. Would love your thoughts/views on how you schedule in the housework? Love, love your videos! I am also of the Mormon faith, and am so grateful for your joy and light in this way of homeschool you express so clearly, reminds me so much of my own feelings. We've been doing scripture journaling as well first thing in the morning--my two oldest boys love this.

      @monsonschoolhousewithmikae2903  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      housework is about the same as you, my kids do dishes, they unload the dishwasher, they clean their rooms etc everyday. However, to keep up I never sit down ;) any chance I get I am picking up and cleaning up, and if I dont do that then the house gets out of control pretty fast! LIke right now, we wrapped up our "school year", and all next week I will spend deep cleaning and organizing, things I was never able to do while schooling. It is a sacrifice I will make though, for this journey... our home is clean, but I can have some untidy closets and things, I am ok with that!

    I love the idea of scripture study in the morning. We have been doing it at bedtime (when mom patience is pretty much depleted) so I think we will try to switch to the morning. Also you mentioned no screen time. Is that during school hours or all day? What are your family rules on screen time? Thanks for the great videos!!

    • @monsonschoolhousewithmikae2903
      @monsonschoolhousewithmikae2903  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      M-Thursday NO screen time or TV. However, they have their Math on the computer (but thats school), and they use their laptop to write final papers, and they love doing power point projects. I feel it is important to learn how to use technology in a healthy way, but computre games, wii, tv etc are just junk food so we don't do any of that during our school days. Friday we do family movie, saturday they play the wii. But they don't even miss it! They love playing outside and legos much more than games now. It has been such a positive experience... I am thinking I need to do a video on Screen time (not that I am an expert in any way), but I have gotten a lot of comments and questions about it

    • @OurDaysTogether
      @OurDaysTogether 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Enjoyed this video. Your day is very similar to ours. Just curious.. Do you fit both History and science into that 1 hour block or do you switch days? History 3 days and then science 2 days!

    • @monsonschoolhousewithmikae2903
      @monsonschoolhousewithmikae2903  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      For history and Science we have tried doing them both in a week and then just doing 1 at a time with 4-6 week units. The kids like the units better because we could dive in deeper. So now we do 4-6 weeks of a history unit (right now we are doing Revolutionary war), then, come march we will switch to Science, then back to history (pioneer unit). So we just flip flop back and forth. it is working well for now!

    Hi-- new to your channel! So glad I found it. Do you have anything you are following for your scripture studies? I want to do this with mine as well but I am unsure of where to start- my 2 oldest are 8 and 3, and what version of the bible might be a best option for everyone to understand. Any thoughts?

      check out discoverthescriptures.com , it has really awesome curriculum to get for all ages, we have really enjoyed it! We use the King James version of the BIble, we feel that it has the most correct translation and I feel when you simplify the language of scripture there is so much of Gods word that is lost. It may be difficult for kids and even me to understand, and that is why I get some help like discover the scriptures! It really is amazing! I hope that helps ;)

    Thank you! this was very helpful! My kids are 9,7,4,2 & there is another due in June! I have really been seeing the screens effect their attitudes and motivation for school. Hearing you say things were better with no screens was really encouraging. When do you allow screens? like I was thinking that they didnt get any during the week except for school related material like Teaching Textbooks or Home Art Studio, then Friday nights we all do a family movie night and Saturday morning they can watch their shows or games until our families late breakfast. Other then if they want to watch sports with dad there is nothing. How do you enforce it? My kids have been being sneaky about it and I'm feeling frustrated. Any advice would help!!!

    • @monsonschoolhousewithmikae2903
      @monsonschoolhousewithmikae2903  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      We do M-TH absolutely NO screen time (outside of teaching textbooks, but that is math lesson!). No TV, no wii, no computer games. Honestly, they don't miss it one bit! Not at all! Friday is our "friday fun day", so they wake up and turn on the wii or watch cartoons in the morning before we start school later, 10am. It has made all the difference! They read, they play legos, they climb trees, they have become boys instead of zombies. the spirit is here in the home! it is worth it :)
