Thank you for watching! Yes... quiet and satisfying. Sometimes that's what we need - just regroup and take it all in. We have busy days ahead but it's all such a blessing! 🙏
I live in the UK and been looking if there are little Islands for sale 😂 nope just old war forts in the river Humber. My husband thinks I’ve lost the plot
Oh my goodness, you guys! it is so breathtakingly beautiful (that may not be a correct structured Sentence but it sure works with how I’m feeling when I think of living on the water. It’s just the best and an island?! Really! Crazy coo,l you guys! I’m praying God continues to bless you as you develop your little spot in the world. I’m right with your girlfriend. I would be screaming and yelling to every every time I came back. It’s almost too good to be true, isn’t it? You celebrate loud🎉🎉🎉 stay grateful!!!
Hello!! Each time we read your comments they just make us smile. Always so supportive and they make us think about the wonders out here. Thank you for reaching out, we always appreciate it! 🙏
Oh the suspense, I was biting my fingernails. So glad there weren't any mishaps along the way!!! Happy you made it there safely! Have a great week. 🙂😘❤
Thank you for watching our channel! We welcome you into the journey! We had a nic day trip off the island but we love getting back and we have sooo much to do. Blue skies!! Yay! 💙
LOVE the last scene! Opal At Large On The Barge. She’s really taken to her new adventure! ❤ (Also loved the rest of the video, as well! Even though I do get a l’il woozy every time Ryan drives something up on the barge. Makes me so nervous! 😄) P.S. You could put the lovely little iron bird piece on the outhouse and call it The Bird House. 😍
@@mywildholm Aagh! I forgot it’s “bird bath”! So sorry! I fell off of a ladder last weekend and injured my back. The muscle relaxers are keeping my brain from working at 100% capacity at the moment. 🥹🤦♀️
Ohhh no apology necessary. I'm so sorry you fell!! Are you alright?! That's terrible. Those ladders can be so dangerous. Ryan fell off a 10ft one a couple of years ago, He broke his foot and hand. It put him out for a bit. Yikes. I hope you get better 💯 🙏
My parents were big fishermen/women. I was told not to talk when holding the rod as the vibrations go down the rod/line and scare away the fish. Just a thought FYI. Trout like to hide in shadows, too.😅
That is such a good point!! I've never known that, but it sure makes sense. Now I'm going to try to be really quiet when we're out there 🤫 Thank you for sharing!
9:45 you can put the ground there what you took out to make parking place to be flat, so it will be more safe to go in and out with car. You can do many things there if you want to make that place better to live. And dog and you guys need to have lifesaver floating jacket on that thing becosue if you hit an invisible underwater tree than that thing can turn upside down.
Yes, we plan on being far more safety-conscious going forward. I have beeen thinking about creating a better loading / landing area for the barge. I'll get to it sometime when time permits. Thank you for watching! -Ryan
@@mywildholm they sure are I love ur content I love the island so jealous lol I I’m from Massachusetts and own 21 acres in Maine were me and my son have built to cabins so much fun making rds and trails for atvs I’ve learned a lot from u guys
Oh that's wonderful! It sounds like you have your own adventure going there! We love that area of the US. My daughter and her husband used to live in New Hampshire - Dartmouth area. You're fortunate to be there too 💚 Thank you for watching!
The algorithm recommended your channel which I am now enjoying. I will recommend this to family and friends but what is the name of your island? Is it Holm. I couldn’t see in the previous episodes where you talked about the history but I did see the first few episodes so it’s absolutely stunning to see the before shot. When you first looked at all the dilapidated and collapsed cabins to your home now is quite exciting channel. I was born close to Seattle & always wanted to be a Canadian but instead chose to become Australian. I have my three babies here but I can vicariously live through your adventures. Keep up the good work guys.
We are so happy that you have found us! We love sharing this journey with others and we are grateful that so many wonderful people support our adventure by watching our progress! I don't want to spoil the flow of the story for you, so I'll let you find the name of the island as you go along. It is a main theme as we go further along. 💚Thank you for watching!
19:08 yeah its nice. you can paint birds to there. Is there doorstep to scrape mud more easy ? We had christmas line lights near house back home in east europe thats cheap.
9:14 you guys need to make that parking place to be perfectly flat, becouse soon or later one day that car start go down into the lake and stay underwater forever....
Guys be careful about recording and leaving your credit/debit card on the dash. It's easy to capture that image, clean it up and read the info off your card. Just an FYI. 1:27. All you had to do was unhook the boat trailer and push the tongue up under the truck then block the wheels of the trailer.
Why would you not simply unhitch that small boat trailer and push that shaft up under the truck? You both seem to look for the hardest way to do things.
Thank you for the suggestion, but the trailer's winch tower would not fit under the bumper. It just didn't seem worth the effort to only move the trailer up 2 ft. The wheels would have still been on the ramps. Thanks for watching! -Ryan
Thank you so much for watching our journey! It kinda seems that way I know but we are always open to learning a better way. 💚 Advice is always welcome! 😁
Interesting, but not enough action !!! Like cutting a tree down , cleaning up bushes est.....,now if boat trailer would have slid off , people would have loved it !!!! God Bless
You are not the first person to suggest that... the trailer has a winch tower on in that prevents it from sliding under the truck. I have put the trailer on first and hung the tongue out over the back of the barge. But that meant the truck was too far to the front, which is not good. We need to keep the truck at the back of barge for stability. I really appreciate your engagement. We love hearing from people like you who are genuinely interested in what we are trying to do. Thanks so much for watching! -Ryan
Who has time for a haircut, lol? Both Melodi and I are super busy. We don't get into town that often and when we do... wait for it... that's right, there's no time! Thanks to you both for watching! -Ryan.
Great idea if we didn't need it to constantly haul our supplies and bring our machines and truck over to the island. Maybe one day when we are all done with the building, we could do something fun like that. For now though, it's such a necessary piece of our team to bring supplies over to the island for building. Thank you for watching!
Oh yes... they are all over the place. Humming birds, eagles, loons, whiskey jacks, ravens... they steal Opal's food too 😆 🤣 'Bird' is actually the last name of the original settlers of this island. 🐦⬛
Can somebody go to there and live in that island ? I know an immigrant in toronto now who maybe want to live there. Where is this bird island ? How much do you guys ask for renting a place there or can he even stay there for free ? ahh nm he not has car and you guys cannot help to go there...But realy, is this possible ? Do you guys open to let somebody live there ?? I guess maybe he can help someway there to do things even he not pro.
Hello there and thank you for watching! We live on this island - it is for family. We will not be renting it out. We bought it for our family and want to build on our own. Thank you for watching!

Lots of goings on this episode.
I really like the little birds for the door. Small but sweet.
Aww... thank you. I do like them, just had a bit of a grander vision 😆 🤣
The little birds symbol is adorable it will work on the door
Sweet and little... 🐦 😊
Love the sweet metal bird plaque ❤
Sooo sweet, I like it too - well... just smaller than I had planned 💚
Once again you you plowed through and got it done . Stay safe ,play safe 🫶🇨🇦

Lovin' that Saker saw. Its adoreable but oh "so tough".
Super cute isn't it? I loved it - they also sent us the 6" and another review will be coming for that very soon 💚

I've been wanting one of those little saws for awhile now.
I really was so impressed! 💚
Melodie, watching and and listening you talk about the trout fry growing to “frying” size made my mouth water!! Brought back sweet memories for me. ❤
I'm so glad! Nothing like those fresh trout with the salt, pepper, lemon 🍋... now my mouth is watering 😆
❤❤❤a little trouble with speeding tickets 😂 just beautiful ❤
Imagine him saying such a thing... I can't figure out what he's referring to 😜

😜Tee hee!!!
Enjoyed your video very much keep up the good work you 2. And opal.
That trailer is light enough I don't think it will affect those ramps I'm glad you got it your island safely.
I think you're right about that 💚 Thank you for the support! We did it 🙌

We plan on building a deck that will greatly reduce the dust and dirt getting inside the cabin. The Christmas lights is a nice idea! Ryan
The guy imentioned, has some ideas to make the place more liveable. But you guys are doing aversome things there.
It is just the two of us, so it takes time. We hope to have the space much more livable in the next year or two. -Ryan
I thought I saw this product review quite a few videos back..
Yes, you're right, you did 😆 good memory! We still use this saw and love it!
9:14 you guys need to make that parking place to be perfectly flat, becouse soon or later one day that car start go down into the lake and stay underwater forever....
It is safely connected to a stand of sturdy willows, so it will be okay. We will be moving it one day. Thank you for watching. -Ryan

That's great!! Thank you so much 💚
Which one of you shall we give the name LEAD FOOT?!! 😂
Mmmmm... guilty 🎶

😜That's exactly right!
Why would you not simply unhitch that small boat trailer and push that shaft up under the truck? You both seem to look for the hardest way to do things.
That would be a great idea. I wonder if it would work.
This is exactly what I was going to say
No disrespect but it’s just common sense

But that's why you have to watch the review... that's where we try that saw out and clean up a bit more 😆
Could you not just detach the boat trailor from the truck, once aboard, push the tongue up under the truck , and reattached it when you get home?
