    I love your cakes and your videos. Im always hoping I see a new video of yours whenever I go to TH-cam. Thought I’d mention that another glue I often use is a solution of Tylose and water.

    I love your videos, they are really helpful and thanks for sharing your knowledge with us... Can I kindly ask if I can use these methods on buttercream cakes? I don't cover my cakes in fondant because I always fail(rips, lumpy and overall messy) so I only use it for decorations and I have had them slide down the cake( I don't know if the temperature outside does add to this)

      Yes! Most of my cakes are iced in buttercream so I do it all the time!

    I was laughing when I saw this tutorial because someone asked me for cocomelon cake. It was funny because I didn't have a clue (my kids are much older) & Here you are.       Here's how I make that number topper. There is a skewer in the bottom and I stick that into the cake.

      Usually 4.5 - 5 inches tall.

      Wafer paper glue (made out of shredded pieces and water. I learned from You Tube channel: Astashkina cakes

      It’s used as glue for wafer paper flowers

      I have used a little bit of corn syrup. But usually I only use water and piping gel.

    Great info, thanks a lot.
    I like to use glucose to stick parts of decoration on cake board. And I like to make edible glue out of tylose powder, just mix up some water with tylose powder until you have glue consistency، I use it as a replacement of water to adhere parts of fondant together

      Yes! I totally forgot about gum glue (the tylose). And I never used glucose, that's one I'll have to try too!

      Would you use the tylose glue in the same way as piping gel (i.e. could it hold heavier piece of fondant to another piece?

    This is very helpful. I made small fondant bows with a mold. I was looking for a quick tip to remove the cornstarch. I'm new at using fondant, so I'm starting with small shapes. Thanks.

    How do I fry your marshellow fondant recipe for cake toppers. I just followed one of your videos. Made the fondant, and did name and number topper… I’m letting it air dry? I hope it doesn’t breaK! Anyways.. you are my fav and have helped me so much

      I make the toppers a few days in advance and let them sit at room temp to dry. I always add tylose powder to the fondant to help stiffen it up! And I make them thick enough that they won't break!

    Hi Karolyn can ask I want to attach a plaque it’s long and it is dry can I still use piping gel to attach it to the side of my buttercream cake?

      I do that all the time, so yes! If it is heavy, you'll want to anchor it to the cake with toothpicks so it won't slide down.

    I love all your tutorials! How do u adhere an edible image to the side of a cake frosted with Italian meringue buttercream? I’ve tried to place tiny chocolate donuts on a candy cake and ended up using toothpicks because they started sliding as the cake came to room temp. And can u keep the cake in the fridge with an image on it? 🙏🏻 thanks for your time

      I never use Meringue Buttercreams, so I'm not sure what to recommend about that. I'm sorry!

A new one for you to add to your list is tylosin and water two tablespoon and 1/4 teaspoon tylosin mix and after an hour it becomes like Thick syrup.     I use Royal Icing as “glue” for certain decorations. I notice that you don’t use much Royal Icing. I usually have some on hand because I also make a lot of decorated cookies. That may be why you don’t prefer it…since your business is mostly cakes. Totally get that.

      Exactly! I rarely make it, so I usually don't have it on hand. But it does work well as glue!

    I usually use water or piping gel or royal icing for my cakes. However I have heard of people using karo syrup. Love your videos! Love to learn new tricks!

    Quick question! I have a tall cake next week with American buttercream completely covered with sprinkles. Should I ice the cake, refrigerate, take out of refrigerator and paint it with one of these methods and then put sprinkles on or should I put sprinkles on as soon as I put the icing on. Do you have a video on sprinkles? Lol. I love your videos!!!

      I personally like to refrigerate it first and then decorate it so I don't mess up the icing.

    Hey Karolyn! I’ve been watching your videos for almost a year now and they’ve been really helpful since I’ve started my baking business! I’m going to be working with fondant for the first time ever for a cake that I have to have done by Sunday. I have to apply fondant triangles to a buttercream cake for a Pebbles and Bam Bam cake this was very helpful. I’m just curious to know is it ok to let the cake chill in the fridge overnight before applying the fondant pieces?

      Definitely! All of my cakes get iced and then refrigerated overnight before I start decorating them. I prefer to do it that way so the icing is solid and it won't get messed up when I'm decorating it. Good luck, you got this!
