Having been an heroin addict for over 11 years until very recently, this song had/has really hit home ever since I first heard it all those years ago, when this version with Brad (R.I.P.) was the actual video for Wasteland, only replaced with the Autumn Effect Version after his death, I have to say I was very disappointed, not only did it not have the same feel sorrow and meaning but the fact that Brads work in this might not be seen again was just intolerable to me, especially after all this song was inspired by Brad and his actions and as hard as it may be for Brads family Jesse included obviously, Im really glad and thankful the video is back on and hope it remains so.
It's very hard to stomach watching this version.. This was his love letter to Brad.. A true life begging and pleading to stop. And now, it's not just a video, it's reality.
I personally like this version better than the one on The Autumn Effect. The Autumn Effect version is great as well, but this one just has that raw emotion and Jesse does an amazing job on this version.
I was in major active addiction when this came out and trying to get clean when Brad died. I think I watched this video a thousand times in those 3 years. I've just seen this version for the first time since 2008/2009. I'm 2.5 years clean and it still hits just as hard. Maybe even harder because it reminds me of how blessed I am to have made it out when so many others did not. Survivors guilt. It's something that doesnt completely go away. Here's to all my people who left this world way too early. I love you and you ALL mattered!❤🕊
Same. I heard it in active addiction not really paying attention to the words, then I got clean in 2009 and they just hit that raw spot. They still do. I got to see 10 years in a small venue in 2010, and my husband had me on his shoulders on the front row and during the time they sang "heave the silver, etc" Jesse and I held hands and sang it to each other. It was amazing. I love this band.
Brad Renfro 💜 R.I.P. to one of the best actors that had ever existed in my opinion. What a sad irony that he starred in this music video, with this song that was written for him as a begging to stop and that he took as a shout for help
Favorite song of all time, favorite band of all time. Never gets old, ever. Love reading the comments and seeing how people get into the backstory of the song so heavily. Thanks for awsome upload Dev!
It’s weird you see brad renfro in this music video who died in real life 4 yrs later from heroin addiction which this song speaks about jesses cousin who struggled with an obsession with drugs to the point it started hurting him from what I heard and I bet brad renfro had the same thing happen with him til he died unfortunately since he was a really good actor seen him in 2 movies bully and the cure it’s a huge horrible coincidence rip brad renfro (1982-2008)
He also starred in The Client. It is one of my favorite movies. I didn’t know that he was the cousin of the leader singer until I read Brads bio. He was a great actor too bad drugs got the beat of him R.I.P Brad
Duderino thanks so much for this. I've been looking for this version for a looooooong time. I remember it was on their site for a bit but was removed when the marketing for TAE started to ramp up and honestly I liked this better than the other music video.
Change my attempt, good intentions [Verse 1] Crouched over, you were not there, living in fear But signs were not really that scarce, obvious tears But I will not hide you through this, I want you to help them Please see the bleeding heart perched on my shirt Die, withdraw, hide in cold sweat, quivering lips Ignore remorse, naming a kid, living wasteland This time you've tried all that you can, turning you red [Chorus] Change my attempt, good intentions Should I? Could I? Here we are with your obsession Should I? Could I? [Verse 2] Crowned, hopeless, the article read, "living wasteland" This time you've tried all that you can, turning you red But I will not hide you through this, I want you to help [Chorus] Change my attempt, good intentions Should I? Could I? Here we are with your obsession Should I? Could I?

It’s so sad. #RIP Brad
What happened to him.
@@Yukon_83 overdosed on heroin. The lyrics are about it.
I'm sorry who's Brad?
@@Juiceisfine482 Brad Renfro is the cousin of the singer of 10 Years, Brad was an actor

I love the Acoustic version on KATHY that little guitar intro adds so much to it
R.I.P. Brad, you are not forgotten. Thank you Jesse for this powerful song, addiction fucking sucks. 10+ years trying to tame the beast.
My brother and I were at the show where the live footage for this video was shot. It was an awesome show.
David Friess were you hiding in the woods 😆
Was that Blue Cats? Loved that venue and the band played there a lot IIRC
@@arcanumdown It sure was...I used to go there all the time back in my younger days. It was such a great venue.
You can see Jesse's pure, raw emotion in this version.

This is awesome. Thanks for posting!
Great version sound better than the other wasteland
I mean I get at the time they were doing a reboot, but why couldn't they leave this as the main video it speaks so much to so many people.
Schmidt Happens maybe it was painful for the lead singer 🤷♀️
For some reason, TH-cam took it down, so they were forced to make the music video most of us know (Autumn Effect Music Video)
@@thetrollgehasbegunI read in Wikipedia that they made other two videos apart from this one. Are you sure TH-cam took this video down? 😮
This song was so depressing as a kid an as an adult 🥺🥺 within everything going on in life

Shao_kahner I think brad is the lead singer’s cousin
Brad IS Jesse's cousin
Yeah brad was jesses cousin bro. This song is about him/addiction.
Brad is who it was written for. It was such a tragic short life.

I like the less clean vocals. On the please and see.
there is way more emotion in this version...
