"I Stand Alone" had two Grammy nominations for 'Best Rock Song' and, 'Best Hard Rock Performance' respectively. This song served as a single from the Scorpion King soundtrack on March 5, 2002. It would reappear on Godsmack's third studio album, Faceless, the following year. It won a 2002 Metal Edge Readers' Choice Award for "Song of the Year From a Movie Soundtrack." "I Stand Alone" reached No. 1 on the Mainstream Rock chart and No. 20 on the Modern Rock chart in the US. The single achieved Gold certification for more than half million copies shipped in the United States, spurring sales of over 1.5 million copies for Faceless and propelling Godsmack to worldwide popularity. In an interview with him, Sully Erna said that the group's two Grammy Award nominations took the band by surprise, because they didn't release an album in 2002. "It did take us by surprise, because we've been so busy working on the new record and things like that, we didn't even think about," Erna said. "2002 was kind of a wash for us, except for that one track. It served its purpose. It kept us afloat the whole time we were down working on the new album and stuff, so...but now that it's soaking in I'm like, I'm pretty excited that we just got nominated for a couple. Whether we take it, or whether we don't, it's still...Someone recognized us for the hard work we've done." Also, Erna admits that the band was pretty excited because they were nominated in a rock category. "It was definitely a surprise being nominated again," Erna said. "The first year, I don't even know why we were nominated, because we were in a category with Joe Satriani and these other guys for best instrumental performance. And the instrumental that we had on our record was an accident, so that was pretty bizarre to be nominated for that. But this year we're pretty excited because we consider ourselves a rock band and we're in a rock category." "The song was written about the character, the Scorpion King, in the movie," Erna explained on the set of the accompanying video. "It's about him being this big, masculine badass, but he has this hidden sensitive side to him. He feels like he's isolated, and he likes to do things alone because he was hurt in the past or whatever. I don't really know why he is the way he is. I guess there's always this mystique about those people who are really tough but maybe feel a little bit lonely inside. So the lyrics are kind of based on his character - being as masculine as he can be but yet isolated and a loner." "I Stand Alone" features a chugging main riff enhanced by textural, single-note guitar lines and powerful, melodic vocals. The song starts with a lunging beat and a guitar riff that shifts between a low, rumbling buzz and an eerie series of notes much higher up the fretboard. Then, for the verse, the song locks into a crunching, percussive riff reminiscent of Metallica before kicking back into the eerie opening passage with Sully Erna scream-singing the song's title and the lines "I'm not afraid of fading/ Feeling your sting down inside of me/ I'm not dying for it." During the midsection of the song, the music turns creepy and atmospheric, and the singer moans, "It's my time to dream/ Dream of the skies/ Make me believe that this place isn't made by the poison in me/ Help me decide if my fire will burn out before you can breathe." "I Stand Alone" was written by Sully Erna and produced by Mudrock. Erna elaborated on how the song was created: "I had a little bit of time before we started writing the new album. And it turned out that The Scorpion King director Chuck Russell was a fan of Godsmack and wanted to use our song "Voodoo" in the movie. Because the song was a little dated, he wanted me to redo it, and I wasn't really up for that. Instead I submitted some new music I had written 'I Stand Alone'. Once we were working together, he leaned on me a little bit to help him find some of the best up-and-coming bands." In terms of production, Robbie Merrill stated that Mudrock managed to bring Sully to another level with his vocal range and trying different ideas that the band wouldn't have tried in the past. They wanted to give the producer a chance and it worked out well. LYRICS [Verse 1] I've told you this once before: can't control me If you try to take me down, you're gonna break I feel your every nothing that you're doing for me I'm thinking you ought to make your own way [Chorus 1] I stand alone inside I stand alone [Verse 2] You're always hiding behind your so-called goddess So what? You don't think that we can see your face? Resurrected back before the final falling I'll never rest until I can make my own way I'm not afraid of fading [Chorus 2] I stand alone Feeling your sting down inside me I'm not dying for it I stand alone Everything that I believe is fading I stand alone inside I stand alone [Bridge] And now it's my time (Now it's my time) It's my time to dream (It's my time to dream) Dream of the skies (Dream of the skies) Make me believe that this place isn't plagued by the poison in me Help me decide if my fire will burn out before you can breathe Breathe into me [Chorus 1] I stand alone inside I stand alone [Chorus 2] I stand alone Feeling your sting down inside me I'm not dying for it I stand alone Everything that I believe is fading I stand alone Inside I stand alone [Outro] Inside I stand alone Inside I stand alone Inside

Something inside me
It's, it's coming out
I feel like killing you
Let loose the anger, held back too long
My blood runs cold
Through my anatomy, dwells another being
Rooted in my cortex, a servant to its bidding
Brutality now becomes my appetite
Violence is now a way of life
The sledge's my tool to torture
As it pounds down on your forehead
Eyes bulging from their sockets
With every swing of my mallet
I smash your fucking head in, until brains seep in
Through the cracks, blood does leak
Distorted beauty, catastrophe
Steaming slop, splattered all over me
Lifeless body, slouching dead
Lecherous abscess, where you once had a head
Avoiding the prophecy of my new found lust
You will never live again, soon your life will end
I'll see you die at my feet, eternally I smash your face
Facial bones collapse as I crack your skull in half
Crushing... cranial... contents
Draining the snot, I rip out the eyes
Squeezing them in my hands nerves are incised
Peeling the flesh off the bottom of my weapon
Involuntarily pulpifying facial regions
Suffer, and then you die
Torture, pulverized
At one with my sixth sense, I feel free
To kill as I please, no one can stop me
Created to kill, the carnage continues
Violently reshaping human facial tissue
Brutality becomes my appetite
Violence is now a way of life
The sledge's my tool to torture
As it pounds down on your forehead
Only real ones
Hears that guitar riff

I'm not a metal head but I remember first hearing this song in prince of Persia warrior within and loved it ever since.
Bro. Couple this with Dahaka chasing you ! The nostalgia!! If i'm not wrong I think Warrior Within got me into metal in the first place ! That main menu backgroud score had me hooked. I was 10 or 12 then !
i had to play the video before every gameplay, that was my ritual lol
You should be metalhead
And it was the first time I sat at the end of the game and fully watched the credits. And I even did it a couple of times more
The reason for it was that they played Godsmack - Straight out of line during the credits
First heard it on a god of war tribute when I was about 12, I looked the tribute up and the videos still there from 13 years ago, great times great games
This is one song I like! From the soundtrack to the movie The Scorpion King. Never have seen the movie but love the soundtrack.

Whether we take it, or whether we don't, it's still...Someone recognized us for the hard work we've done."
Also, Erna admits that the band was pretty excited because they were nominated in a rock category.
But this year we're pretty excited because we consider ourselves a rock band and we're in a rock category."
"The song was written about the character, the Scorpion King, in the movie," Erna explained on the set of the accompanying video. Then, for the verse, the song locks into a crunching, percussive riff reminiscent of Metallica before kicking back into the eerie opening passage with Sully Erna scream-singing the song's title and the lines "I'm not afraid of fading/ Feeling your sting down inside of me/ I'm not dying for it." During the midsection of the song, the music turns creepy and atmospheric, and the singer moans, "It's my time to dream/ Dream of the skies/ Make me believe that this place isn't made by the poison in me/ Help me decide if my fire will burn out before you can breathe."
"I Stand Alone" was written by Sully Erna and produced by Mudrock. Erna elaborated on how the song was created:
"I had a little bit of time before we started writing the new album. Once we were working together, he leaned on me a little bit to help him find some of the best up-and-coming bands."
In terms of production, Robbie Merrill stated that Mudrock managed to bring Sully to another level with his vocal range and trying different ideas that the band wouldn't have tried in the past. They wanted to give the producer a chance and it worked out well.
LYRICS
[Verse 1]
I've told you this once before: can't control me
If you try to take me down, you're gonna break
I feel your every nothing that you're doing for me
I'm thinking you ought to make your own way
[Chorus 1]
I stand alone inside
I stand alone
[Verse 2]
You're always hiding behind your so-called goddess
So what? You don't think that we can see your face?
Resurrected back before the final falling
I'll never rest until I can make my own way
I'm not afraid of fading
[Chorus 2]
I stand alone
Feeling your sting down inside me
I'm not dying for it
I stand alone
Everything that I believe is fading
I stand alone inside
I stand alone
[Bridge]
And now it's my time (Now it's my time)
It's my time to dream (It's my time to dream)
Dream of the skies (Dream of the skies)
Make me believe that this place isn't plagued by the poison in me
Help me decide if my fire will burn out before you can breathe
Breathe into me
[Chorus 1]
I stand alone inside
I stand alone
[Chorus 2]
I stand alone
Feeling your sting down inside me
I'm not dying for it
I stand alone
Everything that I believe is fading
I stand alone
Inside
I stand alone
[Outro]
Inside
I stand alone
Inside
I stand alone

Chapter 2?
Iam king .... Alive is good enough to be, to live is to suffer .. thou here we are
It's funny how bands become really big and then they are forgotten. I used to listen to Godsmack back in the early 2010's or whatever and now I only listen to a song here and there once a year. In my opinion this is their best song.
"Many believe that time is a river that flows safely and swiftly in one direction ... but I have seen the face of time and I assure you that it is not so. The time is an ocean in the storm"-The Prince of Persia.
Only One ocean, constantly cycling the same life-giving water for our ancestors as well as our predecessors.
💔
Is the storm supposed to represent gravity? The Prince kinda skipped over that.
YEAH :) :)
Time is literally Saturn ...or Kronos...
The river you speak of ciundnt posibley be time you fucktard !
The flowing river is consciousness flowing merging into one single source of energy.
If time did not exist would the river still flow..?.... you find your answer there ...seeker...
If you're still listening to this masterpiece, you've a good taste in music.
That’s imposing of view.
This song was from my favorite movie starring Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson & it's still awesome up to this day to those listened to it
