I will never understand people who would go out their way to stop your plan to help someone or something because they have too much pride to admit that their pet care is horrible

Whoever did this must be living a very, very sad life to go out of their way to completely destroy a rescue operation.

this broke my heart. I completely understand not using the word “rescue” around the previous owner because they can get offended, all my animals are from rehoming situations, some from bad care. If the owner doesn’t understand what they’re doing wrong they will not understand why you need to rescue them. I can’t believe someone worked so hard to ruin this. I am absolutely certain nobody else is going to care for them the way you would’ve, and whoever did this doesn’t care about the pigs.

Those poor pigs ): I have a rescue rabbit and I had to pretend the whole time I was just really excited to buy the rabbit from them so that they didn’t take any offense, but he was in horrible condition. Stained with pee, broken toes, found out later that he also had a parasite. How people can decide that their pride is worth more than an animal’s life is beyond me ): thanks for trying to help
I feel the same way, luckily my pigs had decent care in their previous home but my rats and hamsters were in rough shape. It’s important to be nice and polite when adopting neglected animals because you don’t want them to get offended and leave, and sometimes they aren’t awful people just misinformed and trying to find the animal a better home. Confronting them or telling them their care is bad will only make the situation harder, and there’s no reason to do that if you’re taking in the animal anyways. Whoever exposed Austin must not understand what it’s like to take in neglected animals. I hope your rabbit is doing well now that he’s with you!
Honestly, to the person who ruined this rescue, you are horrible!
I feel so sad for these piggies, they would have gotten a new start to their life if Austin had been able to save them. Now their futures are uncertain.
Also, it seems like guinea pigs aren't the only animals that person has that are in bad care, on top of the cage with the babies there is a small hamster cage, so it's safe to assume that they have a hamster or another small rodent in a bad cage. :(
They should be reported to animal control I think but maybe animal control doesn’t care about small animals like Guinea pigs and rodents idk
Did Austin report the owner for neglecting the pets? No. That makes him as bad as the abuser. Have he ever reported past owners for abusing their pets? Doesn’t seem like it, so again, Austin is NOT a good person. Period.
@@NaeniaNightingale He said why you don’t do that, then they (people) don’t give up the animals because they’re offended and just because they’re reported that won’t change anything most people won’t care about rodents and even if you take that chance you won’t know if it’ll change anything that just not a chance you take
@@NaeniaNightingale He’s stated multiple times throughout his videos he doesn’t report these people or point out their behavior because nothing is stopping them from just refusing to give up these animals. If your abusive and you were threatened by someone with the authorities your first reaction would be to pull away and not trust the person. If he were to say anything about these peoples actions there’s no telling what the outcome would be, some people might just not care and give the animal(s) up but a majority would get offended or suspicious and refuse to give up the animal for their own safety, none of these people want jail time so they aren’t gonna risk anything. Plus if he were to report these people most likely nothing would happen since they don’t care, they hardly even care about cats or dogs having that “it’s just an animal” mentality so calling in to report abuse on something so small they’d view it as unimportant and do nothing about it. Even if he got these animals from the person and did attempt to report them he has no evidence of abuse, they aren’t gonna do anything from a photo and his word for it. In this situation he’s helpless and all he can do to ensure the safety of these animals is to play along.

i agree! next time maybe he should keep the live vague, or surprise us in a youtube video just to make sure no one does that again. sad he even has to do that, but unfortunately it looks like he has to…
I think it would already help to blurr the phone number and so on. So it is not so easy for someone, who is probably jealous because of this channel's success, to contact the owner. Life means learning. Keep up the good work, Austin.
@@jp-legal he said he didn’t show the number though. I think the person found out the number because they looked for the listing on Guinea pig finder and found the information through there.
There's a problem though if the rescue takes place and there aren't enough donations after. It's the responsible thing to do to make sure the pigs are going somewhere they will be provided for, and rescues shouldn't take place if that can't be guaranteed.

It amazes me that people will abuse animals then get mad at those that want to help the animals..
It makes me so sad and angry that a person could be so petty as to deprive innocent animals a chance at a better life. Shame on them. Disgusting. Keep at it Austin, you are a great PigDad :)

I know this situation is so disappointing. I've had similar things happen before. I am an animal rescuer with years of experience. Next time, definitely post *after* you've secured the babies. I know it was a learning experience! What you did was not wrong, just if you get them first then they can't do much about it afterwards!
Also, you can make a surrender form! So if you want to approach people as a "rescuer" you can make it more official when they hand them over. Though, some people don't like rescues/rescuers (wild, right) so that doesn't always work.
I would’ve got a family member/friend to approach and “rescue” them on my behalf and secretly hand them over to me afterwards. Hopefully you can do this in the future if needed. Alternatively, you could have an open fundraiser that people can contribute to whenever! One that states the proceeds go to rescue missions!
it definitely makes it harder when the og owner stops cooperating with rescue efforts. i did a hoarder case last year (over 100 pigs running free inside a bungalo that a family lived in) and when we were at 75 out of the house she stopped cooperating and animal control had to be called when we were there to prevent that from happening since child services were already involved. we got about 14 more out but i have no idea what happened to the pigs she didnt let us take.
its probably best to connect with a rescue that is operating already so you can have their support when it comes to funding so that its raised without "naming" the og owner

Even after the owners found out who you were, you'd think they'd be happy about that and be more than willing to hand them over to you. The whole situation seems weird.. almost like a set up. I hope the piggies are in a better situation now and I'm so sorry for the stress that whole situation gave you, yikes!

People do some strange things sometimes, I can't fathom why someone could possibly want to ruin a rescue situation and ruin the animals' chance at a great home 😔

I rescued my boys from the same site and they were in horrible conditions too. The owner thought she was doing such a great job. I didn't tell her how horrible her care was. But when I got their cage set up I did send her pictures to show them their new life.
This entire situation is tragic: for you, for those pigs and for the person who was selfish enough to "expose" you and take away an opportunity for those animals to live a better life.
I would next time, do the gofundme afterwards. Once you get the guinea pigs, and do not tell anyone till you have them in your care.

I am so sorry, my heart goes to those 8 guinea pigs but you and Alyssa have taught me so much, my guinea pig went from a pet store cage with no hides to a 4x2 cage (hopefully expanding soon) with another piggy friend and they are now on the proper diet with pellets in the morning and good veggies like romaine lettuce, bell pepper, ect we are still ordering more and better hides but so far we hung a blanket on the cage over the litter box and two tunnels we have also went from bedding to fleece and spot clean everyday and deep clean every 4 days depending on how messy in can get. i respect u❤️❤️❤️

I keep seeing on guinea pig finder (in my area) people housing males (not neutered) and females together. It is craziness!!
So sad. It never ceases to amaze me that owners will not take responsibility for the health (emotional and physical) of their pets. Good luck in the future.
I’m so sorry you had to go through all that! Those poor piggies looked so miserable. For the record, I think you did the right thing. It’s their fault for not giving their pigs the right care.
I rescued my pigs from an “abusive” situation. They were at a Humane Society but, they were being kept in a 2x4 C&C cage that was divided in half (sorta). The girls are were in the 2x2 1/2 half and the boys were in the 2x1 half. The girls were one mom (which I adopted) and two baby girls (I adopted one of them), and three baby boys. It was horrible. They were all very, very, very skittish and afraid of everything. My girls still won’t let me pet them.
The people at the Humane society had them those nasty pellets with the dried fruits and vegetables in it and it basically looked like fruit loops. I really wanted to get all of them but my parents would not allow it. They looked so sad. Parents and their kids kept putting their hands in the cage and grabbing the pigs; trying to hold them.
Now, my two girls Belle and Pepper, are so, so happy! They are in two Midwest cages combined with a new chloroplast bottom, they have lots of hay, hidey’s, and love to popcorn all around the cage!
Next time try to find a friend who can contact them acting like another person who wants them and just re do the operation if you get caught! don’t give up on the piggies!
I hope the person who did this and prevented these little piggies from going to a kind and loving home feels happy about themselves.
This is so devastating. I’m so disappointed in the owner of those poor Guinea pigs. The address and phone we’re already made public by the owner…. I honestly find that such a dumb reason to deny surrendering those poor pigs. Of course I will “respect” the owners confidentiality but they for sure are not respecting their animals. I’m devastated. All my Guinea pigs are rescued from these types of situations. It boils my blood :(
If you're someone who creates drama that ends up sacrificing animal safety than you really need to take a step back and evaluate your life choices. I'm so sorry that happened to you, it must've been so stressful and painful to know those piggies could've been helped much better by you.
I think you can call animal control in this situation.
They would usually go to a shelter, but you could speak to the police and take them instead? Working together?
Or you could have someone else go in your place?
I wonder if that would be an option. I'm so very sorry to hear that someone went out of their way to do this to you and those poor pigs, but I'm sure you could still save them!
I hope the person who sabotaged the rescue, and even the people who owned those 8 pigs suffer from some extremely cruel karma. I am SICK. Absolutely sick that people can let their pigs live this way and even more sick that someone else would sabotage this when 8 innocent lives are involved. I would LOVEEEEEE to find out who this person is. They’d be so damn sorry.

Ugh, I'm so sorry about what happened with that failed rescue. Definitely don't discuss rescues publicly before the rescue happens; those situations can be so tenuous. Your liners look great!

Wow seeing those pigs in that condition was truly heartbreaking 😢 they looked so miserable and I really hope they find their way to a good home. But also I understand why the owner backed down. Austin I love how committed you are to keeping these pigs safe, happy, and healthy but you can come off as a little self righteous in these rescue videos. (Not trying to be mean just making an observation) And when someone has their care called into question (even if they know they are wrong) they will get defensive. Sorry things didn't work out though, hopefully you can work on making the next rescue better 💝
We are so lucky in this area because we have a pet surgical clinic. They only do surgeries and they are half or less than a regular vet. That cyst removal would be about $300 instead of almost $1000. They also have a life-saving surgery program for people that can't afford surgery for their pet.

I’m glad to hear you learned about how to approach fundraising for rescues/ rehomes differently in the future. There will always be mischief makers on the internet, it’s best not to give them the opportunity to ruin a rescue. Remember the animals always come first.
Oh my gosh, I'm so heartbroken for those poor babies. You inspired us when you rescued Leon and Mr Stiles and we got 3 boys who were living a sad life. Bless you for doing this and I'm so sorry about the rescue not going down. How amazing that would've been 💔

Don’t give up rescuing. Because there are still guinea pigs out there that could really use your help. Because you give them such a great home and make their living condition so much better.
On another note, those people who hindered and ruined the rescue should be ashamed of themselves and I wish them nothing but a life of pain since those poor precious babies are now suffering because of them😡😢

When the camera kept falling, I started to laugh because of the way you reacted and saying that you were dropping "us." XD
It was fun to see your reaction during that time and I was giggling whenever the camera fell.
I am so glad i found your channel, I owned two rescues and they are no longer with me i miss them so much but watching your channel helps me remember the great times I had with them.
I am so sorry about the rescue situation that was sabotaged! It's sad for the Guinea pigs most of all, because coming to your home is like coming to the Guinea pig Taj Majal. You are such a loving, caring, responsible, conscientious piggy daddy that I don't understand why someone would want to prevent you from rescuing pigs in need. Whoever did this was targeting you, but the ones they ultimately hurt were the Guinea pigs you were rescuing. If the care in that home was that bad (I didn't see the previous video), at least the piggies were being given to others who, hopefully, will take better care of them. Whoever did this does watch your channel, so I hope you don't mind me speaking directly to them now.
To the person who did this, I hope you are proud of yourself. You didn't hurt The Pig Room. They were disappointed but have moved on. This rescue was life changing for those piggies. You insured that they remained with irresponsible people who sent them into situations that hopefully weren't worse. I hope you don't call yourself an animal lover, because in reality you're a malicious troll.

Whoever went and ran their mouth to that owner is a disgusting person. I have no idea why anyone would do something like that and ruin a chance for innocent little babies (all of those pigs) to be happy and healthy, and have a better life... Obviously, anyone looking at your videos can see that you take great care of your pigs. People need to let go of their pride, it's not about them, it's about the safety of the animals they're endangering.

ugh the situation still makes my stomach turn! i knew the second you went on live that someone out there would try and find the owner on guinea pig finder due to all the previous drama from earlier in the week like you mentioned.
i just don’t understand why someone would do such a thing if they truly care about piggies. it just goes to show that children should be seen and not heard since they clearly cannot be mature. wether someone loves you or hates you, i know one thing and that is you are an amazing pet owner and i think everyone who owns pigs should strive to be as good of a pet owner as you. there is absolutely not one thing that someone should say that is negative about your pet care! those pigs would have had an amazing life with you and im so sorry all of that went down, austin :(
i really hope this person changes their mind and can own up to the fact that they cant properly take care of them. To turn down a healthy, good home over some personal insecurities is heart breaking.

I have several exotics vets around me as well between 15-45 mins from my house but as expected the closest one is definitely the most expensive :-) regardless I feel lucky to have options.

The eight guinea pigs are in horrible condition and you are going there to save them and this person goes to the owner and says that you are a bad person for starting a go fund me to help their guinea pigs and then not only does that but then does not let you pick them up due to the information this person is a random person gave to the owners that is straight slander that is interfering with someone’s not only business but sanctuary because you’re considered guinea pig sanctuary with how many you have but since someone wanted to be spiteful and probably doesn’t like you for no reason and leave those guinea pigs like that you can call animal control because it’s already neglect if he’s missing a toe is already neglect those feet those pictures everything you have keep it because its neglect you can report them and they may not go to you anymore but they will go to someone else who will care. Sorry I was so mad about this

I’m disappointed that someone sabotaged your rescue of these sweet pigs. The cages were too small and the owner needed to hear that. Hang in there.

I'm a year out on finding and viewing your videos. I like the music you add in. And I LOVE those little guinea pigs. 💕 I'm so glad there is someone out there like you rescuing these babies from the ignorance most people have about caring for them properly and giving them a good life. 🐹

Report her to the police for animal neglect. So this person partook in keeping those guinea pigs in a miserable life. That cage was filthy and way too small. That doesn't change. Thanks to the person who ruined the rescue. Yeah Scotty animals post stuff after the rescue. He rescues guinea pigs too..

@@Dr.LongMonkey I wouldn't assume and I myself would report for the sake of those animals. We are their voice and advocate and need to do what we can to prevent neglect and these types of owners having animals.
Imagine going out your way to make sure that 8 piggys can't live their best life under the most caring and best care. That person is the definition of hell
