- Gamekeeper John is one of the best-known catapult shots in the world, thanks to TH-cam. We go hunting with him in the woods and along the hedgerows of his beautiful part of North Wales. It is all thanks to stalking guide Andrew Profit and his son Hamish - thanks to them for fixing up our day.
Meanwhile, it's a tale of three continents in this week's Fieldsports Britain. Charlie is in Europe, David does News in South America, and we introduce you to the Fieldsports Channel new boy, Rich Leonard, who runs our South Africa operation and will soon be bringing you Fieldsports Africa.

It's interesting how folks across the pond use words differently then us in the states. I was imagining the word catapult as the medieval machine used to in war campaigns

Try learning English
To be honest I think slingshot is the correct words. It's a sling and it fires shot.
Catapult seems idiotic yet older british people get miffed if you call it what it really is...a "slingshot" as they think it americanises it.

Sling shot is something entirely different. It's a sling with a stone in it like David and Goliath times. Like a sling that goes on your arm.
@@MeeHandle A lot of things are capable of throwing an object through the air. A baseball bat for example also catapults baseballs through the air.
I think slingshot is still a correct term for it. It's got a sling and it fires some sort of shot and while being functionally different from an original slingshot, it was designed as a modern replacement to do exactly the same job.

Good video there specially of gamekepper john. catapult shooting is the best. Im still shoot air rifles and shotguns but seem to take the catapult out everywhere
Cannot believe the publicity the sport I love is getting lately, catapults are a serious hunting tool and a proper sport, the Olympics is the next step lol

It is now illegal in the UK to shoot Jackdaws or Pigeons without a licence (rarely granted).

Piers Morgan needs banning from tv all he dose is talk over people so they don't get their point across. If he doesn't like shooting don't watch it or read about it. I don't like piers Morgan's big face on my tv so I switch channels.

I agree with most of his opinions but his views on hunting are just ridiculous
His main point he is trying to get across to these if it moves kill it low lives is Trophy hunting, that vile, abhorrent woman who gets a buzz out of killing a Giraffe, hunting endangered species like a Snow Leopard, anybody who agrees with it needs throwing into a sty of starving pigs.

I am dissapointed. I wanted to see a catapult, not a slingshot. To be honest, a trebuchet would be more impressive than a catapult.

the best thing is: even if he feeds his dog with those poor souls,he
have not to do like this,cause VEGAN dogs live better and longer,and all
of the little good "stuff" in meat you have also in dried insects,you
can give to your DOGS together with other not-animal stuff..also humans
can live like this,BETTER and LONGER!

I like the Fieldsports channel but not really impressed with them giving air time to hunting live quarry with a catapult. High risk of injury due to hit/miss nature; not humane, not the way to do it fellas.
We slaughter animals and eat them though. Thats alright then is it. These are pests ffs!
