I have a short draw of 29 anchored under my ear. But it is not exact. I will be experimenting with the corner of mouth to be more exact but hate to give up those two inches. Great directions...It has cleared a bit more for me how to anchor the hand on the face...I used to hold the hand closer to the chick bone but this way I think is more solid. Cheers!
Hi Wayne iv swicth now to this set , only thing i changed was the pouch, i alwayed used a thin 70mm .Over last 2 weeks shooting this set up , im getting better more consistent results .im thinking with the 70mm light thin pouch that there was room for ponch to move about , now having to grip more in front for ball , and a thcker pouch it my anchor point is more stable. Plus seem to be able to hold for longer if needed . Thanks again . Barry

Man you nailed it. Every fork hit I ever get is when I'm hunting prairie dogs. I get so focused on his tiny head i slip on my basics. I shoot 3/4 butterfly or tiny bit less and in my yard I can keep a 25mm spinner pretty dang busy at any distance under about 17 yds or 16 meters. Also your right about twisting the bands bc i shoot thumb on bottom to get my draw length but doing that it took me forever to figure out why I was gettin flyers out of a normal 1 inch group. Most wouldn't be to far out but not in the group. Its the twist that causes it. I tend to over rotate my hand a lil.
Thanks for the tip about shooting upwards or at a high angle as i have been having issues with that I also totally agree with you about thicker pouches as i use 10 mm steel and find the small fabric type pouches horrible and Always use a Decent piece of Leather thats a a bit larger so as to get a better grip on it .

There isn’t mate, but I’m of the opinion if we self regulate with regards to power, there should hopefully never be a need to have any restrictions put in place.

Been shooting all day today and some shots have been right on target and some are going wacky - I think your tips about the angle of the pouch and having two reference points I think is gonna improveme my consistency a lot! Thanks for all these tips mate
Great video!! Straightening my wrist really made a difference I went out and try just that tip and it worked so much better for my consistency. I use fiber-optic sites on the corner of my frame and I've been trying to line up the entire fiber optics site instead of just choosing the very corner and so much easier your way and a lot less fiddling with getting the fork just right. What I do to ensure I have a straight wrist is, prior to release, I’ll use my index finger and “point” at the target. Lines the wrist up well, but I learned the hard way to wrap that index finger back around the frame before release! Ouch! These are great videos Wayne. I watch you, Catapult Carnage, Gamekeeper John, Zach Fowler, and Nathan Masters of Simpleshot. Great advice from all.

Thank you, you helped me with my slightly low right shot placement. Its because my cheek weld was too high, i moved it to my inner cheek bone, (on the underside)closer to my mouth, hitting dingers now. Thank you.

Thank you for the information Wayne, I use sheshou 0.80 30 to 20 and 11mm steel with a active band length of 14 cm, I got use to it in time and it's a heavy set up, but overall is overkill for most small game! But one thing you need to add is that you're not a regular guy, you train in the gym and this is an advantage, and I think most of us should do that, it's gives you a better form and easier pull on a heavy set up! I train my pinch grip and my forearms more since I started using a catapult! It really dose help!

It’s impossible to encompass every skill level, strength level and body type into one video to be suitable for everybody unfortunately. Having a decent level of strength helps for sure! But strength can be built, as can better skills, it all comes down to time in equals results out 👍
Very helpful Wayne i found myself both standing and leaning over when shooting but have had accurate shots on both stances even holding catty at an angle when standin up straight and getting a great shot adjusting the elevation '' many thanks you have explained some details that i thought were working but couldn't quite put my finger on what it was ''Now i know cheers ''

Pretty much the same form I think just the hold is different but even that's very similar if you use a release aid on a bow. You will maybe hunt with a slingbow as well?

Just watching some of your videos again mate and going from TTF to OTT again I've picked up some valuable tips especially the straight wrist , mine was sort of bent back a bit and that's with shooting ttf for so long , what a game changer straight wrist is using ott , nice1 Pal and keep the great vids coming 👍🏼🎯
This is you're best video yet perfect hunting set up mine is .40 pure latex simple shot sadly no longer available and 10 mm lead and 12 mm steel used to use red theraband tube 12 n 14 mm lead and had no problems but when hunting high squirrels you have not got time to correct all these points there for the instinctive shooter will not be quite as accurate but will still get his quarry

Awesome video Wayne, I found that to be very helpful, I usually shoot light bands for plinking and recently tried going with heavier bands on the EVO, those little adjustments you recommend help a lot, thanks!!! 🙏
I have been shooting with Theraband Gold upto now, I took delivery this morning of 0.8mm Great White from Catty Shack and have some 0.9mm on order. Set my bands up 30" active draw 25/20mm taper - 11mm steel and let rip a few test shots, the power is unbelievable to the point I am a bit nervous using it. Transition is like upgrading a spud gun to an air rifle. Think the .9mm will be tucked away for a while until I get used to 0.8mm. Bit off topic but I also purchased a few other bits that I haven't had chance to use yet but the Black G10 bushcraft/skinning knife is superperb, I have knives costing 3 times the price that come no where near it. I recommend that anyone looking for quality field knife without breaking the bank take a look on his website, you won't be disappointed.
Good advice I am favouring the heavy set up fine line heavy but accuracy is the key head shots only with the heavyist set up I can shoot consistently accurately
Totally agree. The heavier set-up just gives you a little more leeway for error, like putting a shot into the neck or crop area, but still making the kill. Accuracy is a must, but people still need to accept that it’s a catapult. Pin point accuracy is not always achievable with every single shot, everybody puts shots high / low, or slightly offline, especially at hunting ranges and angles, and in outdoor conditions.
Hello Wayne ! When aiming, should you focus on the aiming point on the fork (target blurred in the background) or focus the eye on the target (fork aiming point blurred in the foreground)? Thank you in advance for your answer. Big fan!
Coming back here pretty much a year after watching this and having tried out different frames, fork gaps, anchor points, optics and so on. I have given your techniques a solid go once again and realised I'm far more comfortable and consistent with this type of system plus aiming instinctively, focusing completely on the target feels more effortless and natural (even though I know you reference your fork tip to then target, please correct me if I am wrong). Many thanks for the advice Wayne:) I highly recommend anyone shooting OTT to try this out for yourselves.

My fork tip is always in my peripheral vision as a reference, but I never bring my focus back to it (because you then wouldn’t see your target) also if you weren’t aware of it at all, nobody would really know exactly where the shot will place, so we’re all aware of it to some extent, we just never focus on it. The focus is always on the target 👍

I thought of making clay ammo. Do you have any knowledge on how effective it is, maybe you've tried it yourself? Would be grateful for any input from you on this, cheers
I get just under 14 foot pounds but I do have quite a long draw so I use 12mm lead since there isn't a limit on power for cattys it's easy to get sucked in to that mind set of more power more success so if it works for you keep it the same that's what I say anyway great video mate
You've addressed a number of issues I was looking at such as holding the fork at an angle instead of vertical and getting the head up, etc. I was also wondering whether physique affects draw weight. Presumably a big strong fellow can work up a to a heavier band set. For example Chris over at Catapult Carnage uses a lighter set up maybe partly because he has a lighter physique than you.
sumoman I’m sure Chris could shoot pretty much any set-up he put his mind to. Our views on hunting set-ups are just different, that’s all. Of course it will be easier the stronger you are, but practice will help to build strength, and also tapers can be adjusted to make draw weights lighter, without losing speed, and in some cases increasing them.
Wayne I have just received your forester evo abserloutly amazing frame I have some 0.6 bands but I want to shoot 10mm steel because that's all I have what taper would you recommend please as the 0.6 is all I have atm ?
@@CattyShackHunter I have to say the evo ergo has quickly become my favourite frame it is amazing I was out earlier got a new roll of band its the 0.75 orange precise cut 25/20 and it is throwing 10mm steel for fun but the frame is lovely well done

That’ll be good enough if you shoot them in the head, or on the neck bone. But if they have a crop of food, forget it, head shot only will do with a 9.5. The wrap and tuck stainless steel EVO’s are in stock, but the clipped version isn’t out yet 👍

would 3/8th inch steel ammo kill squirrels, rabbits, ducks, or other birds like that with a good headshot? does the skull break? I often preserve skulls and things like that because i dont like wasting it
I've learned more. 3/8 inch is absolutely devastating at close range, but further you go the less likely you will actually kill it. It's too small in my opinion. Go for around 11 or 12 mm steel. 11 is great at close range, and decent at further range (if you have a good shot)

Just watching some of your videos again mate and going from TTF to OTT again I've picked up some valuable tips especially the straight wrist , mine was sort of bent back a bit and that's with shooting ttf for so long , what a game changer straight wrist is using ott , nice1 Pal and keep the great vids coming 👍🏼🎯
This is you're best video yet perfect hunting set up mine is .40 pure latex simple shot sadly no longer available and 10 mm lead and 12 mm steel used to use red theraband tube 12 n 14 mm lead and had no problems but when hunting high squirrels you have not got time to correct all these points there for the instinctive shooter will not be quite as accurate but will still get his quarry

I have been shooting with Theraband Gold upto now, I took delivery this morning of 0.8mm Great White from Catty Shack and have some 0.9mm on order.
Set my bands up 30" active draw 25/20mm taper - 11mm steel and let rip a few test shots, the power is unbelievable to the point I am a bit nervous using it.
Transition is like upgrading a spud gun to an air rifle.
Think the .9mm will be tucked away for a while until I get used to 0.8mm.
Bit off topic but I also purchased a few other bits that I haven't had chance to use yet but the Black G10 bushcraft/skinning knife is superperb, I have knives costing 3 times the price that come no where near it.
I recommend that anyone looking for quality field knife without breaking the bank take a look on his website, you won't be disappointed.

Good advice I am favouring the heavy set up fine line heavy but accuracy is the key head shots only with the heavyist set up I can shoot consistently accurately
Totally agree. The heavier set-up just gives you a little more leeway for error, like putting a shot into the neck or crop area, but still making the kill. Accuracy is a must, but people still need to accept that it’s a catapult. Pin point accuracy is not always achievable with every single shot, everybody puts shots high / low, or slightly offline, especially at hunting ranges and angles, and in outdoor conditions.

Thanks mate! Eyes on the target, reference point in your peripheral vision. Never focus on the reference point when taking the shot 👍🏻

Coming back here pretty much a year after watching this and having tried out different frames, fork gaps, anchor points, optics and so on. I have given your techniques a solid go once again and realised I'm far more comfortable and consistent with this type of system plus aiming instinctively, focusing completely on the target feels more effortless and natural (even though I know you reference your fork tip to then target, please correct me if I am wrong). Many thanks for the advice Wayne:) I highly recommend anyone shooting OTT to try this out for yourselves.
Glad you’ve found it helpful mate, thank you. My fork tip is always in my peripheral vision as a reference, but I never bring my focus back to it (because you then wouldn’t see your target) also if you weren’t aware of it at all, nobody would really know exactly where the shot will place, so we’re all aware of it to some extent, we just never focus on it. The focus is always on the target 👍

I thought of making clay ammo. Do you have any knowledge on how effective it is, maybe you've tried it yourself? Would be grateful for any input from you on this, cheers

I get just under 14 foot pounds but I do have quite a long draw so I use 12mm lead since there isn't a limit on power for cattys it's easy to get sucked in to that mind set of more power more success so if it works for you keep it the same that's what I say anyway great video mate

You've addressed a number of issues I was looking at such as holding the fork at an angle instead of vertical and getting the head up, etc. I was also wondering whether physique affects draw weight. Presumably a big strong fellow can work up a to a heavier band set. For example Chris over at Catapult Carnage uses a lighter set up maybe partly because he has a lighter physique than you.
sumoman I’m sure Chris could shoot pretty much any set-up he put his mind to. Our views on hunting set-ups are just different, that’s all. Of course it will be easier the stronger you are, but practice will help to build strength, and also tapers can be adjusted to make draw weights lighter, without losing speed, and in some cases increasing them.

Wayne I have just received your forester evo abserloutly amazing frame I have some 0.6 bands but I want to shoot 10mm steel because that's all I have what taper would you recommend please as the 0.6 is all I have atm ?

That’ll be good enough if you shoot them in the head, or on the neck bone. But if they have a crop of food, forget it, head shot only will do with a 9.5. The wrap and tuck stainless steel EVO’s are in stock, but the clipped version isn’t out yet 👍

Having a locked wrist and straighter fork has made the world of difference for me, it's much more comfortable and accurate 👍🏻
would 3/8th inch steel ammo kill squirrels, rabbits, ducks, or other birds like that with a good headshot? does the skull break? I often preserve skulls and things like that because i dont like wasting it
I am using the scout XT from simpleshot. Most shots will be taken closer than 20 ft
I've learned more. 3/8 inch is absolutely devastating at close range, but further you go the less likely you will actually kill it. It's too small in my opinion. Go for around 11 or 12 mm steel. 11 is great at close range, and decent at further range (if you have a good shot)

Hi, I'm completely new in the slingshot world. Did it ever happen do you that the projectile bounced off of the slingshot's "arms" and came back at you?^^ I'm just wondering if I shoulc wear safety glasses.,.
Within legal limits? 12ft/lbs is for non FAC air rifles in the uk. I don't think there are limits on the power of catapults.
