For anyone watching this please don't cut the pipe where he did, he cut it in the wrong place and that's the reason for all of his headache. Cut it an inch or so closer to the cat, you want to leave the weld part intact so that the mid pipe sits flush against it (and firmly). It may need some filing to the weld to get the mid pipe to fit but better to use some elbow grease than to make a near fatal mistake. Have the same year bike in 600 and am in the process of doing the cat delete. Love the M4 pipe but it needs a few more decibels in order to have my neighbours really like me.
I just did this to my 09 GSXR 750, in my case after I cut the cat out I had to ground off the welds and put my slip-on, on, but mine was super tight to fit on, I did buy that U bolt type clamp to squeeze the pipe but never needed it. My mid pipe had a half circle too that fit into the exhaust valve with two tiny slits. after I was done I went for a spin, my gawd .. its a whole other beast, the pops are crazy too 😂
For the same reason we do this on cars with standard transmission: for safety. No, I don't like to have to have to pull the clutch in, especially when I'm trying to start the bike with the helmet on the other hand. In fact you just gave me the idea to bypass this crap. Now on my to do list, so thanks for the idea. As for the kickstand that's hardly a biggie, you can get used to it and if you're having issues then now you know why it's there.
If your bikes in N you cant start it with the kickstand down, I have a 07 600 Gsxr. I just put new brake and clutch levers and for some reason it starts without holding down the clutch now.
