To be fair, Indonesian flag was historically inspired by tored off Netherland's flag during one of the country's many bloody rebelions against the prospect of having Dutch imperialist rules being brought back to Indonesia post WW2. I don't think Poland and Monaco can beat that for the reasoning behind their flag design...maybe 😂
Poland has two variants of the national flag, the one with just white and red stripes is the one that can be used by anyone, while the second variant which has the coat of arms (white eagle) on it, is used by Polish government and it's representatives

1. Being half Albanian and Irish, I simultaneously have one of the best and the worst flags. Honestly surprised Ireland didn't just put a shamrock or something to differentiate it.

I’m a native of Maryland and I can tell you, we know how ugly our flag is, but that’s why we love it. If you come to Maryland you’ll see that flag EVERYWHERE. On shirts, hoodies, pillows, water bottles, stickers, it’s a source of pride for Marylanders to plaster our ugly flag everywhere we possibly can. You either think it’s one of the ugliest things to ever be created or it’s so ugly that it’s beautiful.

@@FireMelon27 no actually they're not terrible. They were meant for specific purposes like identifying ships or troops. The more smaller details there are on your flag the less recognizable it will become the farther away. They served great purpose in history and is the exact reason why all these countries mostly stole the tricolor as it was simply the best at this purpose. Sure you could make the argument that some of these flags still are recognizable from a distance which is true. But most that did make it in the higher higher rating tiers did not.

Seeing this video makes me hope there'll be a CPGrey and UnderGrade collaboration on flag opinions. Their preferences are almost polar opposites of each other (though they may align on US State flags, but for different reasons).
The purpose of a flag is to be easy to reproduce and easily identifiable. So France and Germany have an advantage, since they got to the simple colours first. Everyone else is forced to pick different colours and designs that are overcomplicated and hard to produce (Britian and the United State's flag are like a peacock; only the most dedicated can sew those sorts of flags, signifying their wealth and power).
I mean their flag still represents the rising sun just a little toned down. They still use their Imperial Japanese flags

Btw for anyone who doesn’t know the reason why so many European countries have those boring stripe flags is because when expansion and trading increased they wanted an easy flag that anyone could make so that people can trade and sail easier under their country. Cause without a flag you’re a pirate. Same reason no flags have purple, purple dye never existed so no one could ever sail with their countries flag

Bruh we put the flag on our DL three times, how did you not know living here? Some history that you missed in school is that the flag represents a divided state during the civil war reuniting together under the calverts and crossland family coat of arms (Union/Confederates). I thought this was still taught in schools in Maryland but I guess not.
To be fair, the official flags of some of the "stripes" countries actually have crests in them. Austria has a now one-headed eagle.
It's not a new flag, it's just "more official" flag, you can use it only on government buldings, ships, army, three stripes is a civil flag.
