My favorite is Job, the man lost everything but still had his faith in God and basically gets a whole new life for free all because he got screwed over but with sheer determination and faith gets back on his feet. And it all started with Satan basically like, hey God prank that guy.

God says "Look...I got you a brand new wife and kids and fixed all your stuff better than before...we cool, right?"
Job says fine whatevs, but why you need to be such a dick before when I was already the Gronk to your Brady?
God says how dare you question Me!? Have you seen an Elephant? Does that thing make ANY sense? I did that!

Satan is literally a "son of God". inferring there are sons, plural in Job 1:6. There are also "sons of God", plural in Gen 6:1. So much for the "only begotten son" in the new testament. One of a million contradictions in the bible. God is also supposed to have caused David to do a census in 2 Sam 24:1 but in 1 Chrons 21:1 it was Satan who made David take a census. We can logically infer:
      1. God and Satan are the same entity,
      2 Satan is Jesus
      3. Satan is a brother of Jesus.
      4. The bible is not literally true.
Using Ockham's Razor option 4 is the one using the fewest assumptions and more likely to be correct.

one of the craziest Bible stories to me is the 3rd judge of Israel. He gets literally one or two verses and has the least amount known about him out of all the Judges, yet what little is documented just goes 0 to 100 in no time:
Judges 3:31 (NIV) - “After Ehud came Shamgar son of Anath, who struck down six hundred Philistines with an oxgoad. He too saved Israel.”
Gotta love that it says at the end “oh yeah, he also saved Israel or whatever.” So if you don’t know, an oxgoad, to my knowledge, was a tool used back in that time to prod animals along to get them going in the direction you wanted them to go in. It was like a stick with a pointed tip. Now imagine this random guy killing 600 men who were probably equipped with real weapons and armor (these were philistines, enemies of Israel), with nothing but a farming tool.
I swear the Bible has so many of these scenes where men in battle go against the odds with God’s help and win. To name a few:
-Samson killing 1000 philistines with nothing but a jawbone
-Jonathan and his armor bearer killing 22 philistines singlehandedly
    -David killing the giant Goliath
-the killing of ANOTHER giant named Ishbi-Benob in the book of 2 Samuel. David was nearly killed by him but was saved by one of his mighty men Abishi
-God answers the prayer of Joshua to literally stop the sun from moving in order to allow his men to fight enemies without losing daylight
-the recordings of David’s mighty men in the end of the book of 2 Samuel detail several other feats as well.
(Side note, the book of 1st and 2nd Samuel, a historical book, is jam packed with tons of adventure like this and most of these stories are from there. Definitely worth the read from beginning to end. It’s my favorite story out of the whole Bible.)
The list goes on. I swear this made me realize why that one scene of the 100 man fight from Berserk spoke to me. The imagery runs deep and is very Biblical. Man can annihilate the odds when He dedicates his life to God and fights for His cause.

Born again Christian here and...oh boy...
First, Grade, you're right. We can take a joke.
So, let me see if I can do this real quick:
    1. It's theorized that lot tried to offer his daughters for two reasons. The first being that he knew the angels of the Lord or in his house and this is probably the greatest honor and most auspicious occasion any of us could experience. And two, he figured the men of the city were so reprobate that they wouldn't even be interested in females. Haven't confirmed this though.
    2. Pillar of salt, no one's really sure but what she did was disobey God and look back at the horrible City they just came from. Had they ALL kept their eyes on God she would have survived. LET THAT BE A LESSON.
    3. Yeah, weird that Lot's daughters had sex with him but this was 430 years before Moses gave the law stopping the marriage (relations) of close relatives.
Remember: evolution is a lie. God created us perfectly 6000 years ago. Because of our disobedience, sin entered the world and we've been deteriorating ever since.
That's why Adam and Eve's children were able to start families with each other without any deformities all the way up to the law of Moses.

The fact that the two kids ended up being the names of nations honestly feels like olden anti-Moab and Ammon propaganda to me, and it's kinda crazy how that detail is overlooked because the story's fixated on making Lot the main focus. It's the least flattering advertisement for those nations. Like imagine hearing this story again, irrespective of the time period it took place in, where this one guy lived in the most degen place on earth (Las Vegas), he has no redeeming values when it comes to diplomacy and conflict resolution (see: the offering off his daughters), the guy gets all the blame for the destruction of his city, the rest of his family doesn't have any redeeming values, and then the final jab at the end is the two babies as a result of Lot's daughters being terminally down bad ended up being George W. Bush & Jeb Bush.

Christmas and Easter are pagan holidays not commanded anywhere in the Bible. They serve other gods and we're breaking the ten commandments when we celebrate them so we gotta repent. If you read Romans 1:22-27, serving other gods is the reason why we're living in Sodom and Gomorrah right now.
Also check Ezekiel 20:19-21, the Sabbath is Saturday morning to Sunday morning and it's the sign between God and his people, so if you don't have that sign God is gonna pour out his fury upon you in tribulation.
And read Isaiah 66:15-17, people who eat unclean like pork and shellfish are going to be consumed by fire in the tribulation. So repent from eating this stuff.
And the Messiah's name isn't Jesus, it's Yeshua, he comes in the Father's name Yehovah. He warned us about another coming in his own name in John 5:42-43 because you don't have the love of God in you (the ten commandments - 1 John 5:2-3).

    • @tehZevo_
      @tehZevo_ 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +60

@@rikjanvanschothorst1645 Mostly context. You can ask questions like: is there an authoritative figure (prophet, apostle, Jesus, etc) speaking? Is there a call to action ("repent!", "don't do this, instead do this")? Is there a target audience being spoken to? As for determining allegory versus history, generally, allegories are prefaced by the speaker (e.g. Jesus and his parables). There are probably exceptions, but it's almost always solvable by looking at the surrounding context. The passage about Lot and Sodom and Gomorrah for instance, is surrounded by phrases like "and now Abram went and did so and so", "and then Lot went and did something" - it's very descriptive phrasing.

I will say this, for those who are interested, the reason Lot's wife looks back was because it's said she had a lover in the city. She was cheating on Lot, and her concern for her lover caused her to turn back, showing her sin. The pillar of salt could be allegorical, but honestly could have been literal, as many scholars have likened the destruction of the cities with nuclear bombs, almost, so she could have literally been turned to fucking ashes, for all we know.
And as for the whole daughters thing, one thing you need to understand is during that period in time, women were more or less seen as objects, in Hebrew society (Cuz that's effectively what the old testament is). It's why you'd see men, considered good, have hundreds of wives and multiple concubines and shit. Women were literal objects back then. So their bodies would be worth saving the angels.

Remember, regardless if you believe the Bible, the time that these stories are written in are real, and were written by real people, with real culture and language.
Buzz off with your garbage projection, ya creep.

    • @mr.robertsmain
      @mr.robertsmain 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

Gleason Archer describes this large roving band of teenagers as “a serious public danger, quite as grave as the large youth gangs that roam the ghetto sections of our modern American cities.” The Apologetics Study Bible explains: “The Hebrew phrase for ‘small boys’ refers to adolescents from 12 to 30 years old (see I Samuel 20:35; I Kings 3:7; 11:17). It is unlikely that these youths were younger than 12 years old.” Contrary to the caricature, Elisha was a young man, probably in his mid twenties, though obviously bald.
The real issue was not how this gang showed contempt and “disrespect for God’s prophet,” but revealed utter “disrespect for the Lord.” Therefore, “a strong message was sent to the city and parents” reminiscent of Leviticus 26:21-22. This Scripture tells how hostility toward God and an unwillingness to obey Him can result in being besieged by plagues and wild animals.
The message was a corrective message to address current attitudes and behavior that if heeded would ward off worse sins and greater judgment. The gang was shocked and silenced when mauled (not necessarily killed) by the bears, and their parents and community were warned to repent of their sins (reflected in their children) and obey God before worse judgments befell them!
Walter C. Kaiser writes how the eventual fall of Israel “would have been avoided had the people repented after the bear attack.” They did not.
According to II Chronicles 36:16 we read how “they kept ridiculing God’s messengers, despising His words, and scoffing at His prophets … As Kaiser wisely states: The “bear attack shows God trying repeatedly to bring his people back to himself through smaller judgments” so that they could avoid a worse “full force” judgment.

Contrary to popular belief, God didn't just smite Sodom and Gomorrah, he also smitten two other cities which are called "Admah" and "Zeboiim" but he spared the city of "Zoar". These cities are collectively known as the "cities of the plain" as they were located somewhere in the Jordan River Valley. These cities weren't biblically "just" which in this context means being in an alliance with YHWH (Abrahamic God) which Abraham and Lot fortunately were unlike that of Sodom and Gomorrah.

    • @therandomcommenter6629

It's not a matter of the God being a "bad guy" it's a matter of human society's views of right and wrong changing back when the Bible was made God was the good guy because what God was like was common sense, the truth is people including modern day Christians try and pretend that Christianity and modern western society are compatible when in reality they are very much not, for example as much as mental gymnastics go round and round in this story "pimp out your daughter's and then get them pregnant" lot was the good guy that should say all you need to know, it was built for the ancient middle East all of the "wait what" moments in the Bible would have been perfectly normal if we still had the mentality of 500 BC Middle eastern dude building mud huts fucking our wives (and occasionally daughter's) growing food to survive an occasionally fighting bandits and other nations for our King.
