However, my dad was the exact opposite. He had a Sega geneses, PS1 and PS2, and would show me how to play games when i was young. When we got our Wii and 360, he would always ask me if he could join

Another one that you didn't mention is the education system. If anything violent happens at a school, the blame is immediately thrown onto video games. However, they are certainly fine with showing students graphic imagery in English and other classes like History. I've seen people get in trouble for drawing a gun they saw in a video game, but immediately after we'd go to English class and they'd show us a story of a man committing murder, stuffing the body under the floorboards of his apartment, and descending into madness as he hallucinates police outside his door.

It was the most powerful handheld at the time. It's graphics and features were more advanced than the Game Boy, Game Boy Advance, and DS/DSi. It was able to connect to wifi and browse the World Wide Web. Hence why they called it a high powered computer.

My parents used to be wary of video games, but than did actual research into them. They would stop me and my brother if we were getting addicted, but they didn't let us play rated M games or watch rated R movies until we become adults, they don't understand our love of video games but are supportive of it, and when I turned 18, were fine with me playing Omori, a rated M game, because my parents trust their kids. My dad even used to watch Let's Plays with me. The TH-camr we watched was Schykoh Plays. I guess seeing how distrustful other parents are of video games makes me appreciate my own parents more

If it makes you feel any better, my dad was a gamer, from the earliest days. He got me into gaming. Now I help my son, when he's gaming. My dad was a gamer, back when killing it, at the arcade, would get you laid. And obviously, it did. He never stopped evolving, as games evolved. And he rode a motorcycle. He was a badass, to the end. And this family doesn't believe in rating systems. Either it's all OK, or none of it is. My son's been exploiting glitches, in GTA since he was 4 years old. I'm so fucking proud.

I'm a dad to a 3 year old boy. I can't wait until he plays video games. When he was a newborn, he used to take naps on my shoulder as I played Skyrim on my Playstation 3. Later when he was learning to walk he watched me play GTA 5 on the same machine, and I would just park my car at an intersection so he could watch the traffic since he was really into cars at the time.
Today he discovered a new level of gaming, so I know when he finally picks up a controller he is going to be amazing at it. I have no doubts. I briefly fell asleep on the couch while I was watching him play with his toys today. There was some big to-do about the 3 inch tall firemen action figures enslaving the Lego people or some such sectarian violence that I won't get in the middle of, nor endorse. Whatever was happening it was just too much story for me to stay awake for, but eventually I awoke, to see my son, sitting on my chest, carefully inserting square 1 post Lego blocks up my nose, delicately using a crayon to gently push them up there as far as they would go to see if he could do it without waking me up.
He's such a little scientist. Half of him wants to know biologically how many Lego's will fit in his father's nostrils, and psychologically, his other half wants to know when does finding out this answer become torture? And I have to hand it to the kid, he got four up there before I woke up, and of all the ways to be rudely awoken, this one didn't piss me off in the least. I just laughed and laughed once I took it all in.

One time i told my parents I was about to throw up. They replied with "It's because of those damn video games!" The next day it turned out i had the chicken pox. They haven't blamed anything on video games since.
