to help things not move when gluing together, sprinkle a small amount of salt on the glue. Not a lot, but a few grains will help keep the pieces together while you screw or nail the boards together.

I’ve been inside all day due to my health conditions and I wanted to do something other then lay in my bed (i had done wood working for a few semesters a year prior and I’m interested in flipping houses when I’m older) and I stumbled along a video of you flipping a pallet into a table and decided that I’d try to do some woodworking (with my dads cheap tools) fast forward like 2 months I bought a few new things and I’m planning on selling longboards with 3D printed parts and wood that my dad chops up for firewood thank you Morley

I love what you are doing here! You're inspiring people by bridging diyers through more powerful tools into bigger projects. I'm just gonna throw some things at ya: torsion box construction for flat, very strong, very stable structure, spax screws specifically 3.5" wafer head and 1.5&1.75" trim head, hardwood dowel fastening (drill bit and pegs on Amazon), hardwood for legs w/ >= .125 round over all edges, cheap router table, extended outfield table for table saw (make in 2 sections double as in and out feed for router table, 45 degree legs are not so good because there is just as much force breaking the leg away from the surface as there is normal for the thing to sit on. 40 degree 2" wide leg through bolted with washers & nuts through a metal plate in the frame, inset legs from edge of the bed, French cleat, you'd be amazed how much stiffness wood run perpendicularly to a plane makes, that whole thing would have stiffened up pretty nicely with a few 1 by 4 is pocket screwed in the center underneath

Re: the spoiler alert: I feared for Penny’s safety when you got on the bed the first time. Also, I was gonna say this design is a classic shin buster, but you found that out already. I’m still watching so maybe you do this later but I’d add something to prevent racking of the legs side to side. This is a really fun video with the two of you 👍🏻

It’s funny I’ve had a similar problem with a set of plans that I bought online. About half of the measurements were just flat out wrong. But in the end I got it all built and works like a charm. You two are so freaking adorable it’s really fun watching you interact. And, I’m hoping I can win that cow costume. 😂. ❤️🏳️🌈❤️🏳️🌈❤️

I think everything we did in this video, except for the table saw work, could be done in an apartment.
Buy pre-milled 1x2s instead of milking them on a table saw.
Use a mitre box the cut the angled legs.
Get a cordless sander so you can sand in the parking lot.

Well done Eden! Pocket holes were a great choice for a first proper project. The slight flaws in the plans were actually good to, no build ever goes exactly right so seeing how to easily overcome the shortfalls was a valuable lesson too. I've tried to get the Mrs interested in building something together, no dice so far, maybe one day.
Sorry dude, but pocket holes are not a good choice for this. They are not good for anything where lateral movement can occur, they doin't have the strength as they're only holding from one side, sure you can put them on both sides, but this design didn't,so it will allow side to side movement in the joint...
Those leg butt joints won't last more than a few glasses of wine and a bit of Barry White.

I remember those days and working on projects together. Then it turns into “I said a hammer and you bring a screw driver?” That’s when you have kids and you have the kids help. And yes, I had to use the screw driver as a hammer while my little watched and says I need a bigger heavier screw driver. Like the bed. Watch those shins!

Does the finish you’re using not have a scent? I say that because you use it inside without a respirator. If it does not have a scent I’d definitely like to use for my projects. Is it oil or water base?

Morley, dude, those legs aren't going to hold up. Pocket holes are ok for cabinets, but a bed that will take... ehem... impacts... nooo... especially at those angles (45s?). You'll be having fun times and suddently hit the deck. Great looking though, and I love the idea of a seperate headboard. With a couple of tweaks and better joinery it'll be great. But, again, for the... er... naughty times... did you soften those corners? Cos, you know, fingers need something to hold... and hard corners aren't good ;)
