How To Cut Chamfers By Hand

How to cut chamfers by hand. I wanted to dress up the ship lapped shelves on the bottom of my split top Roubo bench but a bearing guided router bit wouldn't work so I did them by hand.

This is one of those underrated beginner skills and it's so much better than using a router!

I agree. They come out so crisp and clean and it’s quiet with a controlled mess rather than chips flying all over the place.

The Veritas low angle block plane fits my hand well. I also recently got a WoodRiver low angle block plane but I haven’t actually used it yet so I may do a video comparing the two in the future.
