Hi Chet, Thanks for releasing the back catalog on TH-cam. Been watching you and your team explore Texas on PBS the last 5 years and great to see the old stuff I have never seen. Thanks.
@@TheDaytripperI really thank you for your show!!! I confess that you inspire me to do something like you. I’m from Baytown,Tx but originally from Puerto Rico. And Puerto Rico have a lot to explore. Thank you again and …”valla con Dios Amigo “ 👍
Thinking about how different it was in the intro then I realized this was before they painted lines on the circle. In a way I kinda miss this Waco. Born and raised circa 1984-2019.
I was born here and raised. You got ALL the iconic spots!!! My only comment is why you didn’t get ranch at rollos with your pizza? Thanks for the video and great job!
I worked in Ivy Square at the Baskin-Robbins next to the Cinema. I worked my way through college scooping ice cream back in 1976-1978. That ice cream shop was on the Baylor campus.
Dude, you failed to mention my Brewery... right next to Health Camp. Bare Arms Brewing. After a round on the circle, you looked like you could use a beer!
After living in Waco for the last 3 years one day won't show you behind the curtain the stuff they don't want you to see. High crime beggars everywhere and it's unsafe to walk in most neighborhoods. Outside of Baylor and Magnolia there are a lot of problems in this city. Stay for a day or two but don't move here totally not worth it honestly
Thanks for coming to Waco. You should come back and try Trujillo's Mexican Restaurant. Mr and Mrs Trujillo are not around anymore but the children still run the store. If you like BBQ try Jasper's or Tony Demaria's. Tony's sells out by 1 or a little later. Jasper's closes at 2. I liked focusing on Cameron Park. The biking trails are really great. Another great place to go which is a locally owned business is the REFIT® Studio. Started by 3 women right here in Waco. Check them out on the Finding Fit podcast or see them filming the podcast right here on TH-cam.
I love me a double meat and cheese with bacon and chili. A chili cheese dog, onion rings and fries. A big red and a cherry malt to wash it all down. That's my usual at health camp
Anyone who loves bbq has to go to GUEST BBQ! Their brisket melt is amazing! And for Mexican food Los Compadres Mexican Restaurant Off of I-35 Both are very flavorful. And for American food slightly bland but delicious Jake's Teahouse.
@@fellikexitiscming-dj9hqHeathen…I cast thee out! 🥴 That said and it kills my Texas soul to admit this, the variety of flavors outclasses BB by a country mile. The boys in Brenham need to fix this, even that Vermont ‘Commie Cream’ Ben-n-Jerrys is doing a number on BB. Still, rootin’ for the home team…BB and Dr. Pepper…🥳
😂 if you come to Waco you'd know that didn't happen in Waco. Folks who don't know anything just know the closest interstate is through Waco. You won't even go near the site if you're a local. It's not even in a suburban. Sorry to burst ya bubble.
HAPPY 15th ANNIVERSARY, DAYTRIPPER!
This is where it all began!
Hi Chet, Thanks for releasing the back catalog on TH-cam. Been watching you and your team explore Texas on PBS the last 5 years and great to see the old stuff I have never seen. Thanks.
I wish the DR pepper museum was still like this, it was soo cool back then
Whsts it like now?
Used to live in Waco. I loved it and miss it so much.
Wow! This is so fun to go back and see!! So fun Chet!
Your first episode of Daytrippers with out BBQ!!! 😮 just burgers and pizza? I never imagine that. But I really love your show. Thank you!!!! 👍
Haha. Good point. We didn't actually eat much BBQ until Season 2 and that's when we found our niche.

Sorry when I think of Waco (whacko) I think of the siege. But I've visited a few times.
I worked in Ivy Square at the Baskin-Robbins next to the Cinema. I worked my way through college scooping ice cream back in 1976-1978. That ice cream shop was on the Baylor campus.
Is El Conquistador still there? How about Peking Duck or Peter piper pizza? Of course this was back in the 80s.
They still here ,never heard of Peking duck tho

You have to check out double R buger and some of our Bbq places
I just dont understand the show has a tv quality high production crew setup but why the view is so low? Marketing maybe?
Help us get the word out. We are actually on TV too.
Chet, you invented the prototype of the GoPro!!! 😮
I should have stopped Daytripping and gone all in! haha.
Don’t sleep on Big Red - also originated in Waco

I lived in waco for 12 years, the crime rate is high, the crime started to lower over the years.
Bye
When you come to Temple, be sure to visit the Bella Blue Cafe.
When I think of Waco I think of The Texas Rangers Law enforcment museum
Yes. I wish he would have gone there instead of the mountain biking trip
The Rangers Museum, the cemetery next to it and the Masonic Grand Lodge Temple on Columbus Avenue.

This was 15 years ago!
Wow that was a very quick response on a random video! I'm impressed with you guys!
Every town needs a joint like Health Camp.
It’s good
I love me a double meat and cheese with bacon and chili. A chili cheese dog, onion rings and fries. A big red and a cherry malt to wash it all down. That's my usual at health camp
You should check us out next time!
Balcones Whiskey is from there. Magnolia Market is cool.
lol, tell me you dont live in Waco with out telling me you dont live in Waco..
I lived there two years 1974-1976 while going to TSTI ( what it was called then) now TSTC!
I lived there in 1976-1978 and I also went to TSTI.
It’d be cooler if you added a “active duty/veterans discount” to the places you visited.
Sitting down at Health Camp, you forgot your drink....
My favorite place to eat in Waco is Jakes Tea House by the Hippodrome
Anyone who loves bbq has to go to GUEST BBQ!

Both are very flavorful.

Jake's Teahouse.
What no Magnolia 😂😂
This was filmed in 2009 and it didn't exist yet. Haha.
Waco...High Crime.
😂those are not crickets
5:05 RC Cola in Waco, oh the shame…This is Dr. Pepper country, that's like having Tillamook Ice Cream in Brenham. Repent, Chet, repent…🥴

Ill stick to Blue Bell, and HEB's Ice cream is pretty good also.
