Need to come back to Baytown. Lots of changes since this video. Texas Ave and the Brunson Theater are in much better shape, Battleship, Corkgrinders and drag strip are gone.
Was born and raised in Baytown for 15 years so glad to see Baytown getting some attention. It used to be a amazing place to live until around 2015 it started going down hill
I am 59 years old and I was born in Baytown at the San Jacinto Hospital. I grew up just a little ways up the road in Crosby TX ( in the country). We used to go to the movies in Baytown and hanging out at the mall was the thing to do. We also drove up and down the winding roads of downtown (which we called the Baytown strip (meaning the road )). It was full of life back then and to me it will never be the same. Back then it was beautiful as well as Crosby TX. They will never be home again. I now live about 3 to 4 hours away in the central part of TX. I call this place where I live now my home and Crosby TX is the place I grew up along with Baytown is where I was born and those will remain forever in my past.
Hello, I live in Crosby. This is my hometown as well. Been here since birth. I just turned 30. Everything is different. Also, Bob the owner of Crosby Dirt and Mulch by the Crosby park & library passed away last Friday. I am heading to his funeral right now. Not sure if you knew him but mostly all of Crosby got our mulch from him. We all loved him dearly. We will be having a get together as well at Bar 7 where he went by daily. The owners of Bar 7 are Claudia and Dennis, they used to own Outlaw Rays and sold it. Anywho they are all family friends. Not sure if you know any of them but you and your family are welcome to come and pay respects to our old friend. Be well. Hope you’re doing okay and we’ll in life. Much love from your neighbor in Crosby. Don’t forget about us because we haven’t forgotten about you.
It's funny how those of us who are from Baytown go to Crosby to see "the country". It's just not a town anymore, it's become a city. Not where I grew up at all.
Those of you who want to visit Baytown, be warned that a couple of these places are no longer around unfortunately. But there are still plenty of places and things to do around here. The Art District, Pirates Cove, O'Neals Bar and Grill...so on so forth.
Live less than 50 miles from Baytown & we have traveled all over Texas. Houston, Galveston, San Antonio, Lukenback, fredricksburg, San Jacinto, Washinton on the Brazos, New Braunsfels/Gruene, Leakey, Austin, Marathon, Alpine, Longview & many many more. I am now an old man & can honestly say no one has ever mentioned going to visit Baytown.
Yeah was confused to see the Battleship and drag strip, they’re long gone. Surprised the San Jacinto Mall wasn’t shown as it’s also been torn down. I grew up in Baytown and live just outside now. Interesting I didn’t know about the soul food place, definitely gonna try that one.
With a name like Hogaboom in your title page you gotta be from Groves/Pt Neches/Nederland/Pt Arthur...Ive been here since 1967, but was gone for 23 years, now I'm back home to stay. Worked in Baytown for a few years, and worked on the tugs that fueled the ships in the Houston/Galveston area, (Buffalo Marine), so fairly familiar with the area, but Nederland/Pt Neches/Groves is home.
You forgot to mention that you need a fishing license in order to crab like that. I used to enjoy taking my kids down there the Monday after Easter to crab until a game warden stopped us from not having fishing license.
LOL>... I thought you were going to be a major tease and not let us know what the Suby did in a Quarter. Just had to wait for the outtakes .... The suspense was killing me.
I love this show... but feeling "proud" about Mexico losing to Texas is complicated. Mexico made slavery illegal, while Texas fought to keep that despicable way of life while stealing Mexico's land. A balanced view is something to start considering...
@@Catladys_World well yeah... Houston has about 2 million more people. I was born in Baytown and lived there for many years. Baytown has turned into cesspool in the last 25 to 30 years.
I thought this was a new episode, the battleship is gone for repairs and Baytown Drag stripped has been leveled 😢

This is a really good show, now i have to go back and watch the older episodes.
Thanks for coming to Baytown!
Any time!

Growing up I would stay at my Grandparents in Lynchburg and back then you could get out of you car on The Fairy. Good Old Days!
my folks have a picture of me getting my haircut at the Trophy back in the Sixties. Monument Inn has the best stuffed jalapenos ever.
Good to see another perspective on a local town I’m in daily.
I actually get my haircuts at trophy’s lmao
I thought it was a new episode myself but the drag strip is also gone been torn down and removed
Trophy Barbershop --- when we were boys getting our hair cut in the '60s we would sneek peeks at the adult magazines that were about.
I miss cork grinders... this video is fairly old as none of the newest changes implemented appear in the vid.
I enjoyed the video 😄 🏎
Chet, what about San Leon?

RIP San Jacinto Mall which use to be on Garth Rd at I-10 behind Texas Roadhouse.

Trophy kills on the walls of the barbershop was disturbing.

Eating seafood caught next to an oil refinery is not the best practice.

I like the recommendations but anyone else cringe at his intros?😂
Subaru, NOT TEXAS, Colorado, yes, TEXAS NO!!!
The words drag and strip in 2023 should make everyone straight pull out their pocket knife ready to cut the sausage that might be put in their face.
