Arkaroola Wilderness Sanctuary, Vulkathunha-Gammon National Park, 4WD Ridgetop Tour & Lake Frome

After spending some time around the Flinders Ranges, we decided to head out to Arkaroola Wilderness Sanctuary as we'd heard a lot about the area and was recommended by several fellow travellers. We did more 4WD tracks around the compound and Vulkathunha-Gammon Ranges National Park, which it is renowned for, and they didn't disappoint. We did a day trip out to Lake Frome (Munda) which is a large, unvegetated salt pan, 100km long and 40km wide lying mostly below sea level. A vast area of not much but starkly beautiful all the same.
We also did the guided 4WD Ridge Top Tour that provided a lot of information about the history of the area and culminated in morning tea at the spectacular Sillers Lookout. We also did the Astronomy Tour which gave us an opportunity to explore the universe in night skies that are free of atmospheric and light pollution. A fantastic and mind blowing experience.
