Things have changed a bit since the ole 90 or the 158 Lummus. Nice video.

I started working in a 1948 Murray Gin in 1978. It had Murray 90 stands.

The little balls tumbling down remind me of the tribbles from Star Trek. :-D

That's a lot of equipment (money) sitting there idle most of the year...

The gins in this area have been going full bore since mid October and are finally getting finished for the ginning season. This gin by mid February totaled 275K. With cheap money to use and the need to rebuild and modify for next year, a slack in 24/7 is welcome.

We usually gin here in the MO Bootheel from Mid Sept through around Thanksgiving. I did gin one Christmas Eve Day in 1981.

Cotton was King here in the MO Bootheel for decades! Sadly last year most of the farmers here raised soybeans and/or rice.

In 1990 there were over 300 Cotton Gins in Missouri. Now, below 100. This is what I was told by a former gin owner in Missouri Bootheel

Not really, most of the cotton clothing that comes back to the US is from Cotton grown in Chan or Asia. A large percentage of this cotton will be going to India and Pakistan, the main importer of American cotton. Some of it will come back and some will stay locally there.
