I knew someone who was related to an employee of Zara and *apparently* during their training they get told not to bother with customer service because the products sell themselves and even if people hate the service, people will continue to shop because of affordable price/ desirable style. I work in retail and customer service is so important to us and adds so much more authenticity to a brand if you know the service is good! sorry its a long one haha love the haul Josie xxx
Holly Anderson wow really that's terrible. The cashiers were just gossiping at the checkout about customer that were calling in to file complaints. I was appalled and couldn't believe what I was seeing and hearing and that was my first time shopping in store.
This would explain a lot, about a lot of brands. I've had to deal with DISGUSTING customer service from Zara, NastyGal and some others, but they don't spend money on decent customer service staff so they can afford to keep their prices down, so that people will always keep buying from them. It's a bit sad really, but the prices combined with the fashionable style ensure that people aren't going anywhere, even if they make horrible customer service experiences, let's be real. Have you ever actually completely stopped buying from a company you had a bad customer service experience with, but who you like otherwise?
In Greece the Zara service is amazing in every store! I have never had a bad expirience! They solve any problem immediately! Also, great haul!!! Loved it!!!

Live in Japan and customer service at Zara is bad here too. Other day was in Zara waiting second in line at the register to make an Internet return and when the sales assoc. finished up with the customer in front of me, she asked me to wait (I was the only one in line) and then went searching through the store for a customer who had a return but left it at the register while she went shopping in the store. I was confused if the customer wasn't there, why she didn't take care of me who was standing there waiting first but fine. Then a gent from mens told me to go over there as there wasn't a line. There was one person in line. Fine. So I got in THAT line and waited again and then when it's my turn the assoc. at the register said that since I had an Internet return, I had to go back to the other register in Women's since he couldn't do it. I politely refused (much to his shock since in Japan customers rarely complain) and said since the sales assoc. went and got me out of the other line, they should take care of me at this register. (I wasn't about to play musical registers--they afterall came and got me--so they just have to sort it out.) Guy had to call the sales assoc. from Womens (the same one searching through the store for the customer shopping) to come over and process the return. Now in general, sales staff in Japan are not rude and this was no exception but Zara staff here are generally non-helpful and make bewildering judgement calls. For example, they don't seem to have compunctions about selling defective merchandise--something I found on the floor and wanted but was damaged, they just said "Too bad, sorry it's the only one" (without checking) and agreed it was damaged and popped it back onto the floor for someone else to buy. As you say, great clothes but serious customer service issues.
It's funny you should say that about the customer service in there. I don't go in there a lot at all but at Christmas I was after a nice jumper for my boyfriend. Long story short I found one randomly at the end of a rail and it was too small so I asked someone where the rest of them were so that I could get another size, he literally pointed me to a totally different jumper (same colour and knit but slightly different pattern and it was a hell of a lot longer) and I said that it wasn't the same jumper... and he said quite arrogantly that I was after a bigger size so of course it's longer and I said yes but that's significantly longer like a jumper dress for a bloke! So then he agreed with me and sent me to the woman in the changing rooms as he said that she would be able to see if they had anymore in stock... I asked her and all she did was say no. So I literally put the jumper back and walked away and as I was half the way down the escalator the first guy could see how disappointed I was for the lack of helpfulness and just said erm excuse me do you still want that jumper? (I think he thought I might have complained) and I literally just said no and vowed I would never go in that store and spend my money again!
In Zara once I was trying on a pair of boots and faux leather trousers in the fitting room and I came out to show my friend them on, the trousers didn't fit the best because the legs were quite baggy as I had recently been sick and lost a lot of weight on my legs, so I needed to go down a size. So I came out and asked a girl working the fitting room if she could please get the next size down for me - first of all she gave me SUCH a dirty look, then she asked if my friend couldn't just go and get them for me. She tried to say she had to watch the fitting room, but I was the only person trying anything on. Then she went on to tell me I wasn't allowed to have the boots in the fitting room with me, even though she saw me going in with them. She took the shoes off me, set them to the side at the front of the fitting room, went to get the trousers but just didn't come back! I just left everything neatly back and left, I probably should have complained, but in the moment I just wanted out of the store!
Rachael Fitzpatrick I mean.. when I'm shopping I would ask the person I'm with to go get the next size up/down or go myself... it's not their job to get your clothes for you, it's their job to man the changing rooms and they could get in trouble if they didn't. just because you were the only one there at the time doesn't mean someone wouldn't have come while she was gone
Olivia Miller-Davis I work in retail and the whole idea behind working the fitting room is that you help out the customers in the fitting room and get them a different size if they need it, that's literally the job. I wasn't about to walk out of the fitting room myself in a pair of too big trousers I didn't own, and my friend hadn't a clue where to look for them, it would have made absolute sense for the girl to get them as she knows where they would be and it's part of her job to do that. Besides all that she was exceedingly rude about it.
I agree with you on the customer service, I live in the U.S & my local zara has horrible customer service, the cashiers are so rude and most of the time the managers side with them so complaining doesnt help.

Sorry for bucking the trend here - I literally only had great experiences at Zara (Glasgow, Cambridge and Cologne). One shop assistant went to the storeroom (in the basement she said - that was the Cambridge store) after I showed her a picture of a dress that had sold out online and she brought me the dress). Another time in a different branch the young woman in the changing rooms brought me a whole outfit which was so sweet. I only bought one piece yet she couldn't have been nicer. So maybe it's not all bad?

I agree with you 100% about their lack of customer service I was once told by one of their employees noylt to forget to put all my stuff back on the hangers, at first I looked around I thought who is he talking to but then realised yes it was me. How rude I then asked someone one the front desk to please get the manager but I also had issues with her I waited for what seemed ages for the manager who didn't even apologise for keeping me waiting I relayed my complaint but I know it went on deaf ears. Zara make lovely clothes but customer service is weak.
i once noticed a zara employee wearing a really nice nail polish. when i asked her what color it was (i obviously wanted to know the brand) she looked at me and rudely said "they're grey, duh". It was really awkward because i couldn't tell if she was being mean or if she really thought i didn't know what a grey color was! 😂😅

I've never really had a nightmare with Zara customer service, I left my debit card in there and they kept it for me. I just think the stores can sometimes look a mess on a Saturday afternoon. The website doesn't make the clothes look as good as what they are. The stuff I buy is always way better when I actually get it, as opposed to ASOS and missguided which can be disappointing.

I visited Zara Covent Garden recently looking for a top and the sales assistant was really nice and helpful. He brought me 2 colours and different sizes to try from the stockroom. Plus, it was Sunday and quite busy in the store! I know this is the exception though. Most of the times I help myself.

Completely agree! It's the same here in Toronto, the customer service in all Zara stores is atrocious. I always come out complaining as the staff seem to have major attitude problems. Having received shocking customer service just last week I'm actually boycotting shopping in store for a while! Such a shame as I love Zara. Thankfully the online service is pretty great in Canada.

I'm from Vancouver and so far I haven't had any bad experiences in Zara~ I like the one in Richmond and they're always nice and helpful~ The other locations are always busy but it's nice going there as well~ Nice haul btw! :)

Oooh I saw the avocado top in store two days ago and didn't try on because I was feeling lazy lol, but it's adorable! I'm definitely going to go back to try it on (the odd high neck makes me think it'll be a miss, but it never hurts to try)!

I'm from Vancouver and so far I haven't had any bad experiences in Zara~ I like the one in Richmond and they're always nice and helpful~ The other locations are always busy but it's nice going there as well~ Nice haul btw! :)
