  • A pair of Monk Parakeet with a beautiful mutation of cinnamon and blue is nesting for the first time in our mini avian breeding and conservation facility.
    ℹ️basic information from Wikipedia:
The monk parakeet (Myiopsitta monachus), also known as the Quaker parrot, is a species of true parrot in the family Psittacidae. Its average lifespan is 20-30 years. It originates from the temperate to subtropical areas of South America. Self-sustaining feral populations occur in many places, mainly in areas of similar climate in North America and Europe.
Monk parakeets are highly intelligent, social birds. Those kept as pets routinely develop vocabularies of scores of words and phrases. Due to this early speaking ability, it is overtaking the cockatiel as the favorite bird to teach to talk.

I thought cinnamon birds have some red pigment in their feather, like cockatiels being various shades of brown.
What makes a cinnamon Quaker parrot cinnamon?
These are lovely mutations, my Quaker boy was making a big fuss over their calls haha

Flight feathers have different colour more of Greyish.
Where did you learn cinnamon has red pigmentation?

In color theory blues and greens are neutralized to more brown hues with red and orange.
I thought since the blue and yellow mutations of Quaker are due to the absence of a specific color in their genes, that cinnamon color birds were among the types of birds who have red or orange in their genetics.
I'm happy to learn more though! I am glad I asked or I would have carried that assumption around for a long time haha
I don't breed my birds so I was genuinely curious. My cinnamon cockatiel is more brown than his traditional gray flock buddy.

It is really nice that you asked, but on a general note remember that cinnamon mutation in any bird will act similarly to that of the general traits. You may start breeding your birds as well as it is also a part of their life cycle. Good wishes@@RayeBlevins
