I’ve had bikes since 1976 and bought one of these, a 2008 one. It was fantastic yet the call for a bike again got me part exchanging it after 3 years. I bought a lovely low mileage bmw rt 1100 which I’ve had for 3 years. Lovely bike but heavy for me now and my problems mean that after a while in the saddle my left foot goes numb making gear change difficult. I’ve looked around at the 650 Bergman, the Honda silverwing and the Piaggio Beverly 350 and still come back to the Vespa GTS 300 ie super. So for the first time in my life I’ve actually bought the same model bike, or scooter if you wish. This one is the updated model with a different dashboard and abs. Bottom line is the Vespa is very hard to beat at what it does. Take one for a ride, a mix of town, city, country road and motorway and by-pass. You may actually get off with a big grin on your face. Ride safe x Dave
GTS 300 this is in canada Powerful, sporty, and oh-so stylish. The Vespa GTS 300 is an uncompromising fusion of breathtaking performance, technical superiority and classic Vespa design. The GTS 300 has 12” alloy wheels, front & rear disc brakes and a liquid cooled engine with electronic fuel injection. Max. Speed: 129 km/h Fuel Consumption: 27-29 km/l
I have an old Vespa PX 125 from 1987 (with a 150 kit) I have had it for years. Love riding it. However I am thinking of getting 300 GTS. I have looked at after scooters but I always come back to the Vespa 300 GTS. Great review and I am glad you enjoyed riding it.
I just rode an older Vespa today, that my boytfiend "inherited" from his dad and I was surprised how easy it was on the insanely bumpy road near my apartment complex. Really cute and capable scooters.
you mentioned something about plastic vs steel. the plastic will harden after 3-4 years and a hard knock on it will crack the plastic. I ha a 2008 GTV 250ccm, and it was nice to drive, and also had enough power with a passanger - my wife. ThM - Norway
Hi Eric, Ive owned both a sh300i & vespa gts 250 at the same time. The honda plus points are more like a bike to ride and brakes seems to be better having a combined braking. Down side lack of storage and a no lockable glovebox, plus the harsh ride and plastic panel rattles on bumpy roads. Ended up selling the honda as it just gathered dust, vespa are really under rated by people as they are so expensive for a scooter. I love mine even after 3 years of daily use.
I went to my local vespa dealer today and these things are bigger than I thought! I was a bit concerned about a guy my size riding one and looking dippy, but as it happens I think I will be allright! Very reasonably priced as well
i agree about the suspention just ride it today as KTm adventure 1190 was on service and waiting a part. i can say in city the suspention is as good as KTM. Nice review however i dont agree that Honda s built quality is better :) vespa is quality and desing beauty ,vespa is the godfather of the scooters on the other hand honda can built good bikes but not good looking scooters :( Honda 300 looks ugly thats how i feel.
I also have a GTS 300ie and it's good to see your video. Almost no background noise or wind noise... you must have a great helmet. Which microphone and helmet are you using in this video?
Hi, all u say is true but the rattles on bumpy roads my 2011 with 5.000 miles is fine, but the only thing is if u ride in the salt like me will the vespa hold up Ive seen lots of very rusty ones and that steel body get a stone chip and !!!! and the funny thing is the longer u have the Honda the better the ride the springs soften up a bit like most bikes
How fast is top speed? mpg will be good, i will check them out, you say 125cc, mmm, does it do more than 60 mph, mm, here in ontario canada we have highways that are 70 mph or secondary ones that are 80? perhaps you will give more of a review later.
You act like you've never ridden or know anything about Vespa? I know for sure the build quality is much higher than a honda, its a Vespa for christ sake!
Omg. Just saw that traffic circle and you going clockwise. I threw up a little bit 🙄 my wife and I just bought a GTS too. Can't wait for spring. Thanks for the review.
build a light wait trailer out of alloy just for the one bike and pull it behind the van then you can take the BMW if you want to saving a few grand on another bike. i suppose your already thought about this as well? not that it matters eric but are you marryed or single?

hey mate, nice review. what did you use to record video? in particular how did you get sound so clear with no wind noise??
when I see the streets and how traffic is controlled in other countries, I suddenly feel blessed to drive in the U.S.
I also have a GTS 300ie and it's good to see your video. Almost no background noise or wind noise... you must have a great helmet. Which microphone and helmet are you using in this video?
I need one to the gym
Eric couldn't you put one of those trailer pull mounts on the back of your van and put the bike on that they have them here in Australia.
Sounds like a winner ! But 2 BMW GSA s and 2 Vespas ...........variety is the spice of life !

You act like you've never ridden or know anything about Vespa? I know for sure the build quality is much higher than a honda, its a Vespa for christ sake!
cool :) and thanks for cutting me out lol
In a year or so I'm getting my first scooter and I was wondering whether this or the 125 / 250 etc would be a good idea for a first scooter?
Martin's? Posh! Strat's and LP's cool with Marshall's! :o)
Hey Eric - next time you're down that way pop into Trevor Durrant Guitars and find something to review in there!

Check out Piaggio-scooters uk - they have some nice ones that might fit the bill.

not that it matters eric but are you marryed or single?
The only way you can make it up to us TH-camrs is for you to give me your "F" in GS Adventure!

Build quality on the vesper is nowhere near as good as the Honda
