    Our Lord meets us where we are every day. He has loved me at my worst and at my best. He is always faithful. He loves me in my faults and weaknesses and also in the times I struggled with sin. Can I not love someone this way either? Yes I can. I can love Him and others because He first loved us. If someone isn’t lovable to you, remember how much God has loved you and still loves you now.

    Some people are difficult to love, and others are downright abusive (emotionally, physically, or psychologicaly). The latter can require permanent distance. Love does not always look the same from one rationship to another. Thank you for making that distinction.

    I started praying for God to give me the grace to learn how to truly love my neighbour's. It's not easy to accept and like/love others but we need to look past everything else and have a childlike faith in love. We are the ones who complicate things. I also ask mother Mary and saint Joseph to teach me how to love.

  • @JohnR.T.B.

    I'm a sinner myself and still lacking many things in God, but what I think is this, to love doesn't and mustn't depend on the condition of the person you love, but it ought to depend totally in your willingness to love and to give as God loves.

    I loved the teaching that we don't want to be defined by our character flaws, yet this is all too often how we define others. Let people be who they are and love them anyway.

  • @LisaGemini
    @LisaGemini 3 ปีที่แล้ว +25

    You have to give people permission to be broken. A huge challenge in this time, when everyone is on social media whining or promoting themselves. But this has always been the case. Narcissists, psychopaths, etc. have always existed. I limit my time with the toxic people, who may include my family. Great advice here.

    It’s hard to love your enemy. My way of loving them is to sincerely pray for them and leave them alone. But I don’t love them so much that I would stick with them in spending precious time.

      One time someone once said something really bad to my face on numerous occasions, and i pray for him but I would or will NOT associate with him as he knows how to bring a person down. I pray for his soul, and will have nothing further or personal to do with him. He has known me over 52 years, and mocks me. But I leave his up to God.

      Yeah, Fr. Mike Schmit said once that forgiving others is so key because holding on to resentments and anger is a mortal sin. But forgiveness is different than reconcilation. We are not obligated to keep those people close to us. Just forgive them, pray for them, wish them well, and "love them from a distance."

    Well I have a lovely friend who came to stay for me for Christmas. I had to make 4 calls to the Samaritans during her stay so that I would not offend her. Everything I say is disagreed with and it is exhausting (I have depression and anxiety). I have accepted that that is who she is and I pray for her, but no way am I inviting her back for Christmas - I have been trying to decide what this dynamic is and I think it comes from her own sense of inadequacy. So I pray for her, hav to recognise my limitations. She is also into Buddhism and is a lapsed Catholic and I find my need to be with Christians is very strong and I am saddened that she has been dragged into New Age religion.

    When faced with such 'difficult' people - whether neighbours, family or work colleagues etc......one often wonders is there really a God because the strength required to forgive these ar*&s*eholes makes it really impossible because they (the ones who give us grief) are relentless and we have no reprieve. Especially if its colleagues or neighbours - you can't really 'escape' them.

    • @halo326
      @halo326 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I feel this one. Family - you can limit the time you see them if. Oy immediate family. colleagues - hard but lean on your other colleagues. I don’t think it’s wrong to make them aware of how you feel - if they don’t know they can’t change. And if they can’t change get the support of others. But we might be that difficult person for someone else so there’s that . Blessings xx

    What A huge Nugget! ✔Learning to Let Go and to let our neighbors, other people and such be the way they are annoying (frustrating to us). Doing this Is a surrender that happens slowly for us. We maybe included in that forgiveness ourselves. 📿🙏 We are not defined by our sins, so why do we define others? 😇Jesus Loves all His people and we need to Love them where they are "Broken at". 👣 We need to be able to.."Let Go" we need to be a "Builder" Not a Divider. Thank you, Fr. Mark-Mary. I think a lot of it is context and intention. I sent a text message to my friend the other day, and it really upset her. Then, I said precisely the same thing over the phone, and it completely discharged the situation, as she could hear the tinge of humor in my voice. It is best to assume that people have good intentions. Another aspect that I think is important in allowing people to be, is that we have peace within ourselves. I think pretty much everyone is lovable in a relatively easy manner if we have enough time and patience to grant one another. I heard an interview with a singer in a band I used to like, and he said that he is at a point in his life where he can pretty much love anyone, provided he has time to spend with them and hear their story, where they have come from, and so forth. As far as breaking communion, that was something my email friend found attractive about Catholicism when she converted; no matter how bad the situation, one doesn't break communion (she thought that would have applied well to her relationship at the time). Thanks a lot. God bless you and the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal😊

    I really need to listen to videos like this because I've been so frustrated, there's it so many times with past few years, I want to get a divorce all because of the clashing of personalities and the fact that my spouse is just really weird and he's just not who I want him to be as a husband

    I usually absolutely agree 100% with whatever you say and I love following you! But truth be told I am very relieved that towards the end of this video you did say something to the effect of " if the person in your life is totally toxic and you really can't be with them or have them participate in family gatherings they should not" this was the case for me unfortunately for the second year in a row I could not include my oldest daughter who is complete narsisiis (sorry for the spelling ) and comes in like a wrecking ball and will literally ruin every single holiday-well this year she has pushed all of us to our limits and I could not stomach the sight of her and she was not welcomed . I think she had learned more about herself this x-mas than she has in her whole life! Yeah what it is really like not to have people love you. We were the best family anyone could have asked for and she grew up in a beautiful mansion. She never counted her blessings big part of her problem, if you ask me. Anyway it was the absolute right decision for our family to keep her away for the holiday ( which I work feverishly for) was perfect!! I do not regret my decision at all (I believe some cases are very critical this was one of them) in fact I prayed about it a lot -believe me when I say I felt god did not want her here either. Remember Gods ways are not our ways- Amen
