Good tip is to use a hairdryer to warm the leather seat cover which makes it stretcher when you are re applying it

great video! you can use a sander (flapper wheel) attachment onto a 4.5" grinder and that will smooth out the white harder type foam, or a rough rasp or file will do as (on outside finishing) as well.

Great video thanks, I always wondered if I bought a new seat it has the same seat pan so why couldn’t I just do like you did and save $500 , I’m going to try it thanks again

And I just happened to have a spare seat for my 08 DL650.
Much less of an issue if I screw it up.
    Thanks for the instructions.

Excellent work in both the teaching and the seat.

A decent electric stapler does this job very well, they're cheap, readily available and don't require a compressor ;-)

Thanks for the video. Going to try this on my Vulcan 900. Where did you get the gel pad?

My girl's meanstreak has the same seat as a 900 and it makes her ride her R1 more than the Vulcan. I picked her up a "25x25x2cm gel pad" on Amazon for about 30$. Looked all over for that 3/4" gel pad and it's a unicorn.

@@even7steven I did some more looking it appears you are right everything is either 5/8 or 2cm. The thickest one i found was a 1 inch that was 1/2 in gel and 1/2 in memory foam. 2cm isn't far off from 3/4 and should significantly improve comfort.

@@WeekendAdventureRides it's all good, the basics are in the video and it's never a guarantee that you will find the raw materials without a little digging. I was just throwing some change in the bucket. Thanks for sharing your tips.

But is the seat actually more comfortable ? And is it more hot because gel doesnt breath.

I'm still running this seat and I think it is significantly better. I don't get butt fatigue as quickly. As far as heat I don't notice a difference.
