Angle wrenches like that are for close quarters. Typical example would be hydraulic fittings where a bunch of hoses go into something with zero room to turn a normal wrench. With the angle wrenches you can at least (hopefully) get in and do a little turn on the fitting.
I use 30/60 wrenches daily in tight spots on industrial equipment. They give you 4 different angles to try and move a fastener. The 30/60 angles compliment each other well. I've needed 15, 30, and 60 to move a fastener before.
If you do want the snap on angle wrenches, go for the Caterpillar angle wrenches. I bought the 14 piece SAE master set for $300 rather than snap ons $1k+. And they’re both essentially the same (besides the flank drive plus on the snap on). Plus caterpillar’s pliers, sockets, and some other tools are also made by snap on for much, much cheaper. And USA made!!
I used these for hydraulic lines on a large helicopter Ch-53D. The turbine starter was hydraulic and ran at 4000 PSI. the lines were size 16, and they were around 1 1/2 b nut and 1 5/8 jam nuts. All lines going into a dual start valve were solid stainless steel lines. It was in a terrible place, and being able to flip and get all the angles was super helpful. So the best use is getting at something that you have a short arc distance, then flip and get the next best angle.
Jims SUPER DUPER QUADROUPLE FIRED UP!!!!! Their for we know its going to be a Showdown! LOOKOUT!!!! Great Upload enjoyed as always a good time with you two!
Torque test channel did a pretty comprehensive test on combination wrenches from these two, open end only. The con did ok for the money but did not get anywhere near the Snappy.
Harbor freight either never has anything in stock or when I break a ratchet or something they don’t want to warranty it even with a receipt and the box.
I have those Icons, and I really like them. They're actually made with chrome-moly steel instead of chrome vanadium, which most companies use in theirs. I only would like to have had the 18 and 19 mm with the set. I like to use them anywhere there's close quarters. The angles are great to line the nut back up for even turns, so you don't have to reach back farther to get another grip on the fastener, you just switch ends on the wrench with each turn and I slides right back on the fastener. I will be adding the sae set next time they come up on the ITC discount. I enjoy using them.
I'm no SO fanboy, but the SO is thinner than the Icon because it's a stronger metal. Cheaper wrenches need more material to meet ANSI specs and or not suffer breakage. I'd wrather have a thinner, lighter, stronger wrench with arguably much better chrome and tighter tolerances any day. Snap-On is the better wrench period. That said would I pay that much for it? No, I'd buy used or settle for the Icon which is an excellent wrench as well... All that being said! Unless I was working on mostly hydrolics or other line work, I honestly wouldn't bother with either.
Oh gotcha that’s cool I do landscape maintenance and I started working on all my own stuff like mowers and cars etc Your videos have been really helpful as I try and figure out the best tools to get I ended up buying a ton of icon sockets last week with that 40% off sale and a us general box that was $400 off Thanks for the great videos!
At $411 for the Snap-On set, each wrench costs nearly what the whole Icon set costs. $58.00 each. Personally, I would probably prefer the Icon set as well instead of the Snap-On set. I prefer a thicker handle so the edges don't put too much pressure in a small part of my fingers. A thicker edge will spread the pressure out a little bit more meaning less discomfort on the hand. First name Jim. Middle name Bob.
You can get the whole damn set of Icon for the price of 1 Snappy out of that set. Absolutely ridiculous considering Icon is a solid brand and lifetime warranty that's easy to replace.
I don't think Icon has de-throned Snap-On. Many of the independent test do go well for Icon! I think it builds confidence in using the Icon line, especially is home gamers, Diy'rs and weekend warriors. I don't need any wrenches right now but if i ever do than the decision is going to be easier.
Lmao! Hey Hunter....... Everyone who works with tools will stab, cut, and smash their hands and fingers at some point! ICON all day long for these unless you are a pro, or a brand snob.
My Harbor Freight never has anything in stock ain’t even worth going through the store and they don’t want to warranty any tools if they know you are a mechanic they are for the homeowners who don’t use tools.
Snap on is over priced junk. The only reason tool trucks are still in business is due to guys that can’t afford tools so they have to make payment plans and the other reason being people drank the tool truck kool-aid

There is a specific sequence those wrenches are designed for in tight spaces they are shaped like that for a reason

Love it
Yes
Awesome stuff
Tekton makes good angle wrenches and CAT sells some snap on tools way cheap under cat name
Thanks for watching
Would have liked to see you put a caliper on a wrench from each set to compare accuracy tolerance of each set.
That’s a great idea
For the $100, is it Leonard?
Awesome
Thanks

Hydraulic lines is what I use my angle wrenches on.
Thanks
you could by the wrenches AND a tool box for the same price as the snap on wrenches.
That’s right
Use in tight places.
Yeah they are
Put one of each in a vise and see which one will break easier
I’ll have to try that
It's no contest snap on is better
