An absolutely beautiful movie, a true piece of art!! Hayao Miyazaki, Joe Hisashi, I don't know where you are, but thank you from the bottom of my heart for making my childhood the best
Honestly I think Takahata's films are more down to earth while Miyazaki's seems more like a dreamer to me . The messages in takahata's films are clearer than in miyazaki's movies however as it is more down to earth it strikes us harder when watching the movie. Personnaly I was more touched by Pompoko and his message of the importance of nature and the disaster of human overconsumption than Nausicaa. Why I believe because it's was less dreamy (and I know it's still not that realistic but it was closer to my reality than Nausicaa) This doesn't change the fact that both are great creators and I think it's pointless to try which one's are better.
You’d get no answer. One director’s films are bizarre and the other’s make sense (except Pom Poko, which I love because of how ridiculous it is) but both are amazing
Does anybody feel a kind of emptyness whenever a Ghibli movie ends? Like you are leaving a fantastical world full of wonders and excitment. A world full of rich and colorful characters and places. A world you want to see more.
Sim, sinto isso, os filmes desse Studio são tão marcantes, o autor, o diretor, a produção de todos os filmes estão de parabéns. Os filmes que entram no coração do telespectador, faz ele se sentir em um mundo mágico, onde tudo é possível.
I remember being a little girl, sitting cross-legged in front of the TV when the credits rolled. This song was so beautiful that it had a rare affect on me that most songs DIDN'T have when I was little, and I cried a little bit just listening to it. What an amazing film. Thank you Hayao Mizaki, Joe Hisashi, Azumi Inoue, and Studio Ghibli!
the plot may be simplistic but the execution is damn near perfect. it has such a great atmosphere and charm to it for me. everything hits hard. that's why i used to watch it over n over again when i was a kid
Kimberly Smith Oh yes, the same thing with Spirited Away. Another thing I love in the Hayao Miyazaki movies - the heroes of them are more often girls! When I was little, there didn’t seem to be enough stories with girl heroes that were not marketing grabs. Yet, I could always find a way to relate to one of Mr. Miyazaki’s girl heroes, be it Chihiro or Sheeta, Nausicaä or Kiki.

The magic that only Studio Ghibli can do. I don't know how to explain the feelings this film makes me feel. I think it makes us see the positive side of humans and give us the feel of how dark it would be if humans choose the evil side. Thank you, Hayao Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli for this film and all the great memories. Ghibli is life.

When it was over and the credits were rolling, I turned to him and said, "now you will be able to look at half of everything to come out of Japan and go, hey wait a second"

Out of all of Hayao Miyazaki’s that Joe Hisaishi has composed music for, the music of _Laputa: Castle in the Sky_ remains my favourite, especially in the original Japanese version.
man listening to this reminds me of when I watched this for the first time as a child on tv with my older sister. We were both in awe. We didn't say a word during the movie. We just watched, fascinated by this breathtaking story and universe they have created.
Every song of Ghibli is so touching for their clear even transparent sounds. I even feel like my soul is woken up and healed by them. Also some slices of sadness come across. The fact that Studio Ghibli stopped publishing new projects make me truly upset. That’s my childhood, my yume
i absolutely love castle in the sky, it is my most favourite film and since its not like spiried away and more calming in a way, this easily makes this (and their music) the best movie (in my opinion) c:
As one of the first anime films I saw, and probably one of the first films I ever remember seeing, this film still takes my breath away every single time I see and almost brings me to tears, for no absolute reason. Ghibli films are just too precious to my heart and nothing will ever replace the joy and pain and awe I experienced seeing these movies.
I LOVE THIS SONG SO MUCH. I USED TO WATCH THIS FILM. IT MADE ME FEEL LIKE I WAS ON A JOURNEY. THIS SONG REMINDS ME TO MY OWN CHILDHOOD PERIOD! THANK YOU SO MUCH!
This movie is awesome! And the music OMG it's so beautiful! And i can sing it with the lyrics but i really really really love this movie it's so sad,Beautifully made and of course it's A GREAT MOVIE i recommend that you watch it 😄
Apparently, the studio got its name from an alternate title for the Khamsin, the harsh desert wind that blows in North Africa. Mr. Miyazaki picked that name because he wanted the studio to blow new wind through the anime industry.
My first studio ghibli movie was wen I was 2 or 3, and now I'm 9, but the feel wen you watching your first ghibli movie is still on me. Bravo, ghibli, bravo.
Pls I'm crying, I got this random music box thingy from an old shop and I felt like the song was familiar, TURNS OUT ITS THIS SONG- I'll be listening to it 24/7 from now on (took me years to figure out what was the song)
Just got hit with the memory if being like 5 or 6, watching the VHS all the way to the end just so I could hear this and watch as the remnants of the castle and crystal float into space. Man, the only other VHS I would watch all the way to the end was my pokemon tapes so I could see the commercials at the end, Kimba the White Lion and the Dog of Flanders are still on my to watch list, the pokemon gamboy commercial with the bus guy scared me though XD Thank you for the nostalgia! 💙
Castle in the Sky and My Neighbor Totoro I both saw when I was little. Both of them, they are still my favorite Studio Ghibli movies and possibly my favorite anime movies of all time :)

That horizon
The reason why it is shimmering
is because somewhere on it, the Earth
is hiding you
Numerous night lights
the reason why I feel them to be so dear and old is because I know
with one of them
you are there
Now let's set out
with a piece of bread
knife, and lamp, into a bag,
all stuffed in
Passions
my father left with me
The look in her eyes
my mother gave me
The Earth rotates
with you on it
hiding you
your bright eyes
admist the twinkling town lights
The Earth rotates
carrying you on it
carrying two of us
who shall meet one day
Note: I translated as faithfully as I could to the original. I translated mother as "it" since the Earth in Japanese is gender neutral. I felt better to call it "it" rather than "her" as English convention goes.

Imagine this as a lullaby. I'd never struggle to sleep again.
Also, yet another time that I wish I could sing-
This is still today one of the most amazing and beautiful songs I ever heard in a anime. Many tears have been shed here.
Out of all of Hayao Miyazaki’s that Joe Hisaishi has composed music for, the music of _Laputa: Castle in the Sky_ remains my favourite, especially in the original Japanese version.
Agree, its still today the best of his songs in my opinion, its so chilling beautiful!
انا احب هذا الفيلم لما له من فكر عميق جدا
This song is literally MY CHILDHOOD 🥺
man listening to this reminds me of when I watched this for the first time as a child on tv with my older sister.
So guys, if you see a blue star in the sky, you‘ll see the heart of Laputa❤️💕
As one of the first anime films I saw, and probably one of the first films I ever remember seeing, this film still takes my breath away every single time I see and almost brings me to tears, for no absolute reason. Ghibli films are just too precious to my heart and nothing will ever replace the joy and pain and awe I experienced seeing these movies.
Favorite movie of all time ever!
寺田農さん亡くなられた時にシータのよこざわけい子さんが寺田農さんを哀悼したのを知って感動した
It is sad and comforting at the same time 🥺💔😢

I am half japanese and ive watched all the Ghibli movies but my all time fav is THIS one.

This movie is awesome! And the music OMG it's so beautiful! And i can sing it with the lyrics but i really really really love this movie it's so sad,Beautifully made and of course it's A GREAT MOVIE i recommend that you watch it 😄
same
this is why I bought this movie after 8 years of having forgotten about it
Apparently, the studio got its name from an alternate title for the Khamsin, the harsh desert wind that blows in North Africa. Mr. Miyazaki picked that name because he wanted the studio to blow new wind through the anime industry.
2024 and i still enjoyed this
Melhor música de todos os filmes da Ghibli!
For me this is one of the best anime i've ever seen.
This is how to make an anime!
Best movie ever
I watched this movie a lot when I was a kid and I still love this song as an adult.
My pigeon definitely seems to enjoy this as much as I do!
I once had a dream that I was on Laputa.
Diego Bareno i wanna have a dream like that

My first studio ghibli movie was wen I was 2 or 3, and now I'm 9, but the feel wen you watching your first ghibli movie is still on me. Bravo, ghibli, bravo.
Pls I'm crying, I got this random music box thingy from an old shop and I felt like the song was familiar, TURNS OUT ITS THIS SONG- I'll be listening to it 24/7 from now on (took me years to figure out what was the song)
Bless you for uploading this in high quality.
Just got hit with the memory if being like 5 or 6, watching the VHS all the way to the end just so I could hear this and watch as the remnants of the castle and crystal float into space. Man, the only other VHS I would watch all the way to the end was my pokemon tapes so I could see the commercials at the end, Kimba the White Lion and the Dog of Flanders are still on my to watch list, the pokemon gamboy commercial with the bus guy scared me though XD
Thank you for the nostalgia! 💙
What a precious memory! Thank you for sharing it with us.
this song makes me feel a kind of sad nostalgia
I feel all kind of emotion in this music. I don't know why.
I sang this in my choir!!!
Miyazaki has made the greatest anime films that ever have, or ever will be made 😊

Castle in the Sky and My Neighbor Totoro I both saw when I was little. Both of them, they are still my favorite Studio Ghibli movies and possibly my favorite anime movies of all time :)
