    Your video came in just in time. We started assembling our th475 and we are at a stand still due to I had ordered the th400 kit and it came with 5 clutches and not 6 on the one drum. Waiting on parts. I always enjoy your videos. Thanks and many thanks for putting out these videos that helps us DIY.

    Do you leave the seal out of the forward drum? I’m not talking about the lip seals on the piston. I’m just curious if there is a benefit to that?

    You need to try the new Sonnax chrome molly drum and shaft. Real nice stuff

    Nice video. With the rising prices of parts, I’m thinking about just buying 4l80 core transmissions. Usually for a hundred bucks a core it sounds like I could use the drum and sprag, the forward hub, and at least the thinner intermediate clutch pressure plate. Oh, do you have any use for a th375 output shaft and tail housing before I toss it?

    • @mountainsgarage
      @mountainsgarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, it pains me to part out a transmission, but I am sure I will use the parts. I have a few with broken cases.
      I appreciate the offer but in a rare moment I will have to pass. Thanks you for the offer!

    So maybe someone here has some "input" LOL .... I have a billet input shaft and drum that doesn't have a check ball in it, and I am assuming that it will need a piston with a check ball?? I am wondering if that is the reason the clutches and steels were looking ruff from only a few passes in the race car.... I didn't build the transmission, but I am in the process of rebuilding it and a backup for Sick Week coming up in Feb so any help is welcome! Thanks!

    On the forward hub do you leave any seals out

    • @mountainsgarage
      @mountainsgarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes I leave out the seal on the drum. No other mods needed.

    Have you ever had trouble with the splines of the fti forward hub? I ordered two this past week from summit and both were either not machined correctly or I’m missing something. Just curious if you have ever had trouble? I ended up getting a tci forward hub. Thanks

      @@mountainsgarage I ended up finding out that the shaft I had must have been really old. I’ve been told pre early 70’s have a slightly larger shaft than the newer ones. I got another shaft and the billet hub fit perfectly? Does any of this sound familiar?

    • @mountainsgarage
      @mountainsgarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DanielsDesign Yes I just built a transmission yesterday with the larger main shaft, a 4L80E hub would not fit.
