    So do you find it easier or harder to combine and drive in the fields when everything is frozen like this? Thanks great vid

    • @sprayguy9
      @sprayguy9  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      easier when it's been as wet as it was this past fall. Have one S680 on tracks and one on the duals. Switched from the tracks when the ground froze cuz the tracks were beastly rough...…..

    Nice Job, guy's and a good video! I think the conditions for harvesting are not so bad. The frosty weather makes absolutly no soil compaction, the corn is rather dry, well done.
    Greatings from Germany and a Merry Christmas

    Why is the corn so short? It looks like someone cut the top half of the stalk off.

    what heat units are you planting there and whats the yield like from southern ontario here . the way the house market is here manitoba will likely grow more corn than here sadly

    • @sprayguy9
      @sprayguy9  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Heat units between 2200 and 2500. Yields can be into the 160 to 180 bu/A (a few guys get over 200) but this past summer was very dry during the growing season so yields are down to 120 to 140 bu/A

    What's the yeild that far north and how many day corn?

    • @sprayguy9
      @sprayguy9  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      2200 to 2500 heat units. A really good crop of corn can get to 200 bu/A - but this year with the lack of timely rainfall - guys ae in the 140 to 160 range

  • @kreed1004

    why so late in year?

    • @sprayguy9
      @sprayguy9  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      We've had some unpleasant weather during the whole harvest. Corn harvest usually starts in late September ut this year we've had a lot of rain - and snow - and the corn has just not dried down to where it was feasable to dry it economically.

    • @sprayguy9
      @sprayguy9  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes - we often get snow in November - sometimes late October - but often the October snow will melt before final freeze-up

    No till? Big respect from Ukraine!

    • @sprayguy9
      @sprayguy9  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Very little no-till in our area - soil is heavy clay for the most part and guys are trying to incorporate their trash. Also, most of the time we're on the wetter side rather than the dry so a matt of trash won't allow the soil to dry and warm enough is spring for timely planting
