      @@peterloewen3201 Hya Pete thanx for the comment …na mate not as much as what you have to manage around 😊….down here it’s lots of wet and cold over long periods equals mud when in winter ……….I Do have a query tho about the harvesting that crossed my mind ..does the below freezing effect the dry cob when separating the finished product from the plant material when going through the combine ?
      Thanx in advance mate

    Please forgive my ignorance but here in the mountains of WV we dont really get to see very many combines in action... That thing is wicked cool... So now that I have learned how corn is harvested I would love to know what exactly is meant by "19% Corn".

    • @kadendonnay2663
      @kadendonnay2663 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is the amount of moisture left in the kernel of corn. We usually dry it down to 15% or 14.5% to store in grain bins.

      @@kadendonnay2663 Gee thanks... After reading that^ I just did some quick research on the subject... Not being an agriculturist, I never realized the importance of all the harvesting variables that must be taken into consideration... Now to learn about prep and planting... Again, thank you kindly.

      Glad you're interested. Guys usually have to dry their corn to 14 to 15% moisture. It can get expensive to dry. This year a lot of corn is being harvested in the high 20% range - the odd field is still above 30% moisture. If they tried to store the product at that moisture content, it would rot in the bin and become worthless

    Where is this? Do you have trouble with snow and ice in the machine? Very nice video thank you for sharing

      Manitoba Canada. If you get too much snow into the combine, you can have the sieves ice up and plug - guys have to be careful with that

      @@sprayguy9 wind is blow snow from corn, I' think it's don't have problem with sieves in combine

      At that cold of temp you could run quite a bit of snow through and it would blow out the back like dust.Closer to freezing point you can make a big mess,spend hours cleaning out the combine.

    -6 degrees C doesn't equal 8 degrees F...more like 21 degrees F.

      So you're saying my math is terrible. You're right. I stand corrected
