This is a really good format! But if it was possible it would be really good to see a video where you mixed and matched them and made different outfits, just to see how versatile a capsule wardrobe really is
I honestly do not understand how people say they’re uncomfortable in skirts/dresses!! They are the most comfy things ever! I detest winter when you can practically only wear trousers bc they’re so uncomfortable (and don’t even get me started on skinny jeans) 😂😂
Catherine Sadler i hate that so much, I also have atopic dermatitis, so the back of my knees, my inner thighs, or any part that touches another part of skin when I’m slightly sweaty itch so horribly. I usually wear long trousers when I have to sit a lot, or biking shorts underneath skirts to stop my thighs from rubbing.
Really like the fact that you added a mirror in the background (: that way you get to see the pieces in full. Creative thinking Lucy. Love your simple/compfy/yet classy style. And yes. The pants problem (were you have like a fist full of space in the back but it's like really tight in the front) is very relatable.... ugh...
please do more of these types of videos! I get so much inspiration from your style. i actually spent the night cleaning out my closet (donating and depop-ing) and trying to be more conscious of the amount of clothes i own
like, the content of this is charming (obviously), but the editing is e v e r y t h i n g. As someone who has started making my own videos, I can now fully appreciate how much editing work went into this. And the results are gorgeous.
I live in New Zealand and its 8:00 pm rn. I was scrolling through my recommended feed and because I watch your videos so much, all of the recommendations were your videos and it made me so content. Lucy you are so helpful for me as 14 year old, you help bring me back down to earth and keeps me sane. I love you so much you have no idea
this is so interesting to me !! my wardrobe pretty much stays the same all year round and it has maybe 30 pieces in total. my style is kinda edgy-ish and very very androgynous - i shop in the "men's section" for everything i wear except jeans/ shorts and underwear even though i'm not a man. it's so interesting to me how style changes over the seasons for most other people, because today i am wearing the exact same outfit, minus the coat, that i remember wearing in the winter, and for me my clothing choices have always been that way.
I was exactly the same for ages! I’m really trying to diversify into seasons as whilst some pieces definitely stay all year round, sometimes items just aren’t appropriate but I felt stuck with them x
boyfriend pockets are life savers lmaooo i relate to that so much. I absolutely loved this vid!!! The format was really nice to watch as well as you having gorgeous taste in clothes
Ok, first of all, I LOVED this video --- the shooting/editing is excellent, so so so cool! You and I have similar styles, but I think what struck me the most were your skirts --- great pieces to inject some color and texture variety, but still versatile enough to go with so many other pieces. This is a capsule wardrobe enthusiast's favorite thing to see.
I love Call me by your name its sooooo amazing and the clothing in the film is sooo well thought out. The hole style of the film is beautiful 🌼 (im obsessed) lovely video.
38 items?! Damn...minus sleepwear I already have a capsule wardrobe and didn't know 😂 benefits to wearing the same thing all year round +/- boot, tights and cardigans
That seems so many tops to me 😂 I literally have a black t, white t, 2 khaki t's (short and 3/4 sleeve), black and white striped t, and a rather funky patterned shirt. Am I odd? Probably. I am 6"3 and find it unnaturally difficult to buy clothes that fit so maybe I've just subconsciously got used to having no clothes 😜
Loving your style - I’m still kind of confused with what is the difference between a capsule wardrobe and.. a wardrobe? I thought the aim was minimising how much clothing you buy and own but it looks like you have more spring/summer clothes than all my clothes together. So is there some other element or point to a capsule wardrobe that I’m missing?
Maddy W I think influencers especially tend to have tonnes and tonnes of clothes so this to her is a minimal amount. I personally have more clothes than this as well. So I guess it kind of depends on the person, some people do this just to decrease the amount of clothes they have & be better for the environment and stuff
Buttercup Blueberry capsule Wardrobe is a subsection of your wardrobe, you might have 100 pieces, you take 30 that will be used for the season and store the rest away... Then next season you ,'shop' your clothes and create another capsule. (Swap summer tops for jumpers etc) I just put everything I have in my wardrobe because I forget what I have.
Your capsule wardrobe journey has been so inspiring! I’ve always loved your fashion taste. :) ps the editing in this video is so nice clean and pretty. Loved it!
I love your style and this video was beautiful as always! Finally an amount of clothing items that I can relate to on TH-cam... Everyone else always seems to have an entirely new " collection " every few weeks
I really don't get the capsule wardrobe fad. I have clothes that i wear when weather appropriate until it wears out. The capsule wardrobe thing seems really contrived and... just unnecessary to me. (to be clear, this is not a criticism, just me thoughts)
and yet it's actually /more/ costly since you're abandoning lots of things and trying to curate new things to perfection. so I think in the end capsule wardrobes serve "aesthetic" purposes only
i mean if you're buying new clothes almost every season then yeah it's expensive. i just wear weather appropriate clothes and keep them until i won't wear them anymore (usually a couple years)
Totally depends on the method though... I have core staples the whole year round and store away seasonal things and can go many many months without buying anything. First year sorting out the wardrobe can get expensive upfront but saves money in the long run as you know exactly what you have and need.
i'm an accidental capsule wardrobe person. if i don't wear something lots, i don't love it and give it away or sell it. i'm quite a bit of a fast fashion person though, which i know is not great, but as a teen experimenting with style and a very limited buget, it's the better option right now. love these videos!
Such a lovely video! I adore these style videos - I have a very similar style and you've given me loads of inspiration! Those dresses are absolutely stunning on you.
I love your wardrobe videos!! I really want to try creating a capsule wardrobe for myself! I love the idea and minimising the amount of items that I own!!
I like the idea of a capsule wardrobe and I think it really makes you think about what you buy, I would find it really interesting if you talked about fast fashion, since most people I know who do a capsule wardrobe do not shop fast fashion, or at least try to shop in a conscious way.
LOVED this! I've just given my basket in Weekday a LOT of attention so they best be happy!! I love finding your style from watching other people's! And I need to watch Call Me By Your Name x
This is how capsule wardrobe vids should be! Like this, you should be able to show the lot as an entire capsule if it's as condensed as it's supposedly
Tip: find a pair of jeans that fit your hips and are a little big big on your waist. You can fix the waist very easily. You just fold over the excess and sew it together from the inside. A few stitches should do the trick if you don’t have a sewing machine
Also it’s great if your weight fluctuates a lot cause you just have to cut the stitches and you get a bigger jean. The stitches should be done at the middle back so it’s less obvious
If you're looking for a nice evening bag that's still affordable, I'd recommend the australian brand Status Anxiety. Really cool leather bags that are good quality but still not outrageously expensive. Good range of clutches and over the shoulder bags that can still be worn on a day to day basis :)
I can COMPLETELY relate to using ‘call me by your name’ as fashion inspo 😂 it’s been kind of an unconscious obsession for me, without realising I’ve bought like three button up vests (like the first crop top you showed) thinking “ooh that’s giving me European vibes” lol
I love your capsule wardrobe; it is so inspiring to my own wardrobe! You should definitely check out sustainable clothing companies such as People Tree and Everlane.
Love this type of video!! Would be lovely to see more clothes from sustainable brands seeing as fast fashion is so detrimental to the environment and to the workers that get paid nothing to produce these clothes. 💓
I love how you filmed this! Also, after having seen your tweet about the type of content which most satisfies you (either labors of love or spontaneous videos), I look forward to seeing where you decide to go content-wise in the future. This video- which obviously took quite a lot of effort- was great to watch, and the spray-tan one was a real joy, haha. In any case, are you still in the editing process for the 168 Hours video you mentioned a bit ago? Love that series!
This is a really good format! But if it was possible it would be really good to see a video where you mixed and matched them and made different outfits, just to see how versatile a capsule wardrobe really is
I'd be interested in that too :)
She did a video a wee while ago called "how I style a basic tee" which does a little bit of that, if that's what you're after
Sadhbh definitely down to do that!
+
yes this would even be so good as an entire separate video
I just sat down in the sun in the garden with a bowl of musli this is PERFECT timing!!
that sounds so lovely oml
THAT SUNFLOWER SKIRT IS LIFE!! WANT IT, SO BEAUTIFUL!
I honestly do not understand how people say they’re uncomfortable in skirts/dresses!! They are the most comfy things ever! I detest winter when you can practically only wear trousers bc they’re so uncomfortable (and don’t even get me started on skinny jeans) 😂😂
Emily Herbert I only feel comfortable in skirts/dresses whilst wearing tights (in case of sudden drafts etc) but loathe wearing jeans with a passion!
The chub rub though!
Catherine Sadler it’s for the greater good 😂
Emily Herbert nah put me in trousers any day. At least I have something protecting my inner thighs from their own worst enemies: themselves!

And yes. The pants problem (were you have like a fist full of space in the back but it's like really tight in the front) is very relatable.... ugh...
I asked on twitter for a bullet journal video and a capsule wardrobe video and you did both. You're too sweet x
please do more of these types of videos! I get so much inspiration from your style. i actually spent the night cleaning out my closet (donating and depop-ing) and trying to be more conscious of the amount of clothes i own

Thank you! It took a couple of days total to make so I really appreciate that!
I love how laid back your videos are xx
lucy always looks so classy??? and good in whatever she wears omg
I absolutely love this video, and your style!
I loved all the items and I really appreciate the format and editing on this! Good job Lucy :)
I love this kind of videos and I love your authenticity and honesty! Really enjoyed it
wasn't call me by your name set in the 80s?
yep!
Haha my bad! Eighties is good by me too!
I really like the style of this video! The combo of chatty and showing clips w music is fab
I loveee this format of video for clothes related topics!
I really loved this video, looks like a good amount of effort went into it
And yas would be great to see a summer summer one
Lucy your eyebrows look super bomb today!
Loved the style of this! The mirror in the back so we can see every angle is great!
this is so interesting to me !! my wardrobe pretty much stays the same all year round and it has maybe 30 pieces in total. my style is kinda edgy-ish and very very androgynous - i shop in the "men's section" for everything i wear except jeans/ shorts and underwear even though i'm not a man. it's so interesting to me how style changes over the seasons for most other people, because today i am wearing the exact same outfit, minus the coat, that i remember wearing in the winter, and for me my clothing choices have always been that way.

the pink skirt from weekday is too cute!! love this video!!
ugh I aspire to have such an effortlessly beautiful wardrobe
boyfriend pockets are life savers lmaooo i relate to that so much. I absolutely loved this vid!!! The format was really nice to watch as well as you having gorgeous taste in clothes
really love the concept of this video, formatted so nicely and i love fashion content!
I saw CMBYN and I cried and fell in love with the style too!! omg!
Ok, first of all, I LOVED this video --- the shooting/editing is excellent, so so so cool! You and I have similar styles, but I think what struck me the most were your skirts --- great pieces to inject some color and texture variety, but still versatile enough to go with so many other pieces. CMBYN is set in 1983, so feel like its a bit odd to say its 90s fashion, when it's clearly not. Outfits are nice tho!
Elspeth Nicholson wait did she even mention cmbyn?
Nevertrustaduck around 3:30
Yeah lol it’s like extremely 80’s
I love Call me by your name its sooooo amazing and the clothing in the film is sooo well thought out. The hole style of the film is beautiful 🌼 (im obsessed) lovely video.

your style is so amazing. i loved every piece!
This is your best video. Minimalist yet v satisfying

Your capsule wardrobe journey has been so inspiring! I’ve always loved your fashion taste. :) ps the editing in this video is so nice clean and pretty. Loved it!
ALWAYS SO SMOOTH WITH THE EDITING ❤️
Loved watching this! I created a capsule wardrobe a few weeks back and have been loving it!

i LOVE this concept, totally inspired me to sort through my wardrobe now, i absolutely adore your style Lucy!
I really love that you're stylish yet don't promote excess buying
I really don't get the capsule wardrobe fad. I have clothes that i wear when weather appropriate until it wears out. The capsule wardrobe thing seems really contrived and... just unnecessary to me.
(to be clear, this is not a criticism, just me thoughts)
Tessa Avonlea its generally done to save money
and yet it's actually /more/ costly since you're abandoning lots of things and trying to curate new things to perfection. so I think in the end capsule wardrobes serve "aesthetic" purposes only

i generally buy a few items twice a year and that's basically it...
Love the inclusion of the mirror for showing full outfits!
agreed! it seems obvious but its so clever and it looks so pretty in the shot
I love your outfits, so classic. Invest in belts think they’d tie your outfits together and that extra subtle spark ✨
Wait wait wait did I miss it? Where's the floral piece you're wearing in the thumbnail?
thank you for doing this - I am moving from the US to Brighton in the fall and need to get down to some kind of capsule wardrobe!
I love your style! So laid back but still smart. Very cool girl.
yes i love your wardrobe!! it’s so simple yet such an aesthetic!!
i'm an accidental capsule wardrobe person. if i don't wear something lots, i don't love it and give it away or sell it. i'm quite a bit of a fast fashion person though, which i know is not great, but as a teen experimenting with style and a very limited buget, it's the better option right now. love these videos!
Such a lovely video! I adore these style videos - I have a very similar style and you've given me loads of inspiration! Those dresses are absolutely stunning on you.

Where is the dress in the thumbnail !!!!
I love that you love CMBYN! I've been thinking a lot recently on how I can incorporate their effortless look into my wardrobe too
Told myself I was about to sit down and do some real study, then this popped up in my subs box wooooo

LOVED this! I've just given my basket in Weekday a LOT of attention so they best be happy!! I love finding your style from watching other people's! And I need to watch Call Me By Your Name x
honestly fashion goals, love it!!
CMBYN is specifically set in the 80s, not the 90s
You are so pretty ❤️ loved this video very inspiring
This is how capsule wardrobe vids should be! Like this, you should be able to show the lot as an entire capsule if it's as condensed as it's supposedly
love the format of this!
Love your style! I felt uncomfortable in skirts too when spring started. Now I am getting used to them haha
I think the format is awesome! And these kind of videos are super interesting to me! Hopefully I can continue to downsize my wardrobe too :D
you have such an eye for pleasing colour palettes
DUDE from what it sounds like I think you'd love the central shirt from madewell.
Tip: find a pair of jeans that fit your hips and are a little big big on your waist. You can fix the waist very easily. You just fold over the excess and sew it together from the inside. A few stitches should do the trick if you don’t have a sewing machine

loved this! I have a similar style to you and loved seeing some new inspo!
just cleaned out my wardrobe - perfect timing
Gorgeous editing and presentation style for this vid. Loved the clothing choices too and is very in line with what I'm trying to do currently!
I’ve been waiting for this for so long!! Just what I need rn as I’m trying to create a capsule wardrobe too. Love you!! 💛💛
Call me by your name became my inspiration for everything tbh
i love your style!!!!
call me by your name is set in 1983! classic eighties fashion, especially Elio’s shirt in the final scene
Loved this video!! It would be really lovely to see a video about your occasion wear 😊
I can COMPLETELY relate to using ‘call me by your name’ as fashion inspo 😂 it’s been kind of an unconscious obsession for me, without realising I’ve bought like three button up vests (like the first crop top you showed) thinking “ooh that’s giving me European vibes” lol
have you thought about getting trousers tailored so that they fit you well?
LOVE YOUR FASHION VIDS
Ohh wooww lucyy your hair color looks soo bomb 😍💯💯🔥and you reallyy inspire me for a capsule wardrobe
So the dream video now is a Call Me By Your Name lookbook...

call me by your name is definitely my summer inspiration this year too 😂
That blue dress from Nasty Gal.... uuugh.. it just looked gorgeous and became you so so so much..!!
Love this type of video!! Would be lovely to see more clothes from sustainable brands seeing as fast fashion is so detrimental to the environment and to the workers that get paid nothing to produce these clothes. 💓
