Here's the thing, I wish I could buy more ethical clothing. It's just SO expensive and most people can't afford it. WHICH IS WHY this is such a good idea, if I can't always buy ethically at least I can cut down the number of clothes I buy. Thanks Lucy xo
I love living out of a capsule wardrobe! I recently did a full closet clean out and it feels so nice to just be wearing what I love. Of course there are always those items that I’ve added and then ended up having buyers remorse on, but you live and you learn!
The lessons you learned were on point! I started *refusing* knitwear that had acrylics in them last year, and only bought materials like wool, cotton and cashmere and they all look brand new still even after wearing and washing them so many times. Knitwear, outerwear and shoes is where i dont mind spending a bit more money on.
I feel the same way, I own some acrylic jumpers that are alright after wearing them for 3 years, but compared to natural fabric jumpers that are the same age or older they look horrendous. I must say that I wash all of them by hand or on my washing machine’s wool setting with special detergent, but spending that extra time taking care of them is worth it in the long run. Another tip is to always fold knitwear instead of hanging it in the wardrobe to avoid stretching and misshaping it. I’ve also noticed that polyester and acrylic make me sweat a lot so I refuse to buy t-shirts or blouses made out of them.
I used to be really into the idea of building a capsule wardrobe; I would plan out all of the pieces I would want to wear, figure out what combo of clothes to put together...but whenever I went shopping I found I would get distracted and stray from my initial plans. This year, you're inspiring me to pick up the capsule wardrobe and actually commit to it this time. Love your videos Lucy!
This morning I went through your style playlist and watched all your capsule wardrobe vids because I was in desperate need of some lucy moon fashion inspo and then there was this notification, perfect timing!!
You mentioned that you’re expected to wear something different in every video. By whom? Is that really a thing? I’m genuinely curious-who’s keeping track of vloggers outfits, especially ones that aren’t particularly flashy, and then complaining in the comments if they repeat? That just seems to me to be a ridiculous thing to do, but maybe I’m in the minority on that.
definitely a ridiculous expectation and I don't think many viewers expect it BUT I can understand why creators might feel that pressure just because there's a weird stigma around outfit-repeating in the media (even though most people outfit repeat on the regular!)
I have a tiny tiny channel and I feel that pressure too... I don't know where it comes from but if I wear the same thing twice or in close videos I start worrying :c it's nice to read that maybe it shouldn't be a thing :)
I was about to comment the same thing. I think it would be nice and necessary that influencers started wearing the same things often in videos. When ”always wearing something different” you actually add to the mentality of fast fashion and having to get new stuff all the time. Showing that it’s okay to re-wear things would be fab.
I do this by accident hahahaha. I was looking at my channel and saw I was wearing the same denim dress in three videos in a row. IN FACT I am wearing that denim dress right now. It's a damn good dress.
I had a really hard time with finding a comfortable and nice looking pair of black ankle boots too! Finally found the dream pair this year - they're from Born and I found them on sale. Hope you find the right ones for you!
It was really interesting to hear you explain the pieces that you were passing on. It's nice in way to hear that everyone has hang ups with their bodies or hold onto things that they'll never get use out of.
I really loved this video, I've been trying reduce my fashion footprint but I keep falling back into the routine of thoughtlessly consuming fast fashion. Your lessons have really helped me to target what I'm doing that's actually hindering my progress with reducing my constant need for more clothes. I shop in charity shops mostly and I'll often buy items that I love the thought of but aren't quite right: they don't fit properly, don't actually suit my style or I don't feel comfortable wearing them. However, I'll justify these purchases by saying that they're second hand so my shopping addiction isn't destroying the planet, when really having a wardrobe full of clothes that I don't want to wear is making me buy more from the high street brands that I'm trying to avoid. Thank you for this video because it's made me realise that I need to think less about where I'm buying from and more about what I'm buying. Obviously I don't want to be supporting unethical, unsustainable brands, but this video has helped me realise that there's more to making conscious purchases than just avoiding Zara.
I have 2 huge bags of clothes to sell. But it was worth it. I am so freaking happy of how small amount of clothing rn I have in my wardrobe. luv you and your videos!!
Tips for really good boots for feet that just doesn’t work in normal shoes: Tamaris is my favourite brand for shoes that gives nice support yet doesn’t make my wide feet feel like too constricted. As a Swedish person living in a part of my country where it’s basically winter for 9 months, I know the feeling all to well when it comes to the struggle of finding good, practical boots. Also, great video! Love your fashion videos!
I just bought a boiler suit from Lucy and yak, I had to save for a while because it was 65 but it was worth it because of the quality and knowing that it is ethnically made
I looooove those earrings. Beautiful wardrobe Lucy! You've inspired me to try a capsule again for this season. It's spring here though. But anyway, love you, love your vids!
re: comfortable boot. Please try Vagabond! I had been searching for a heeled boot, and I got one pair of their lace up ones and I am in love! I am now considering purchasing their zipped heeled boot too as they are sooo so so great!
Lucy I would love a video about places to shop for good quality//ethical clothing for people with very limited budgets (think, working 2 minimum wage jobs.) I love good quality clothing & minimal wardrobes but also I don't have that much money and I find myself feeling stuck and like I "have" to shop at cheaper places even though I know its more expensive long term!
I really appreciated that you were honest about the fact that certain items of clothing don't make you feel great. Because SAME! I hope that all of us can one day get to stage were we can feel awesome about our bodies but this was a nice reminder that that change can't happen overnight, and that holding onto clothing that makes me feel bad isn't going to help that process. I loved this video and am really looking forward to the autumn haul xx
You can still save your jumper! Just buy a fabric shaver, it will only take a few minutes to remove the bubbles and voilá! Your knit will look a lot better! I buy inexpensive knitwear but I do take care of them especially when I wash them. Don't put them in the dryer, fold them properly to avoid losing shape. Clothes cost money whether they're expensive or not so please... just try a fabric shaver.
First of all love your video. Second, I’m sitting here in front of my closet watching your video and I really don’t know what to do. I relate to you when you say that you are conscious of what you buy but make sporadic and somewhat stupid buys, I’m the same. I do however want to change that and I must say you’ve inspired me to do it. I don’t know how but.... I guess I’ll figure it out.
If you’re looking for basic, well fitting shoes you should try the brand Vagabond. They have so many different basic styles that look super chic, but are still very comfortable!
just last night I decided to fuck it and make my first capsule wardrobe! so helpful to see your process, thanks for taking the time to put this together for some of us that need inspiration. informative and artsy as always! 🙌
Now that I think of it, I have to go though my closet, I just put inside everything from the last autumn/winter season inside and the other day I saw that some of my trousers are actually too big... So I have to check everything and probably buy smaller sizes..
As always, really enjoy your capsule wardrobe videos; I found your summary of the last year very useful especially seeing where you went wrong and the reasons for getting rid of those items. I too am trying to reduce my waste and shop more mindfully. I was wondering though, if you have any suggestions for more ethical ways to get rid of clothes. Many of the clothes donated to charity shops still end up in landfill sites, or will be donated to people less able to afford clothes in poorer countries. This then has a hugely negative impact on clothes shop owners, dress makers and other small business, often putting them out of business. I have stacks of things built up in my attic from years ago and have no idea how best to get rid of them.
Have you used depop before? It's a great place to sell and find wonderful clothes and it's a really nice community. If you don't want to add to energy waste from posting things, then I'd recommend hosting a clothes swap with your friends or selling your clothes at a local jumble sale or car boot sale. That way you know they're going to a good home. I'd add that while it's true that charity shop clothing sometimes ends up abroad (whether in landfill sites or local communities), if you can, ask the people at the charity shops nearest you if there is any particular clothing item they're really in need of (often it's things like good quality jackets in cold weather). If you have anything they really need, focus on bringing that.
For shoes, have you looked at Fly London? I don't think I can recommend them in terms of ethics (tbh I don't know) but I know that their boots are genuinely the comfiest I've ever worn. I can't wear most heeled boots because of the way my feet are formed, but Fly London fit like a dream! I had the YGOT boots in red for about 2 years and I must have worn them for at least 500 days during that time!
your really inspiring me to me but your absolutely gorgeous and trust me when you overcome your self consciousness of certain areas of your body you will realise how wrong you were you are gorgeous💗 also your clothes are all so gorgeous
In response to the simple boots you're looking for- check out Dr. Marten's 'Flora' boots! They might be too small of a heel for what you are looking for but I absolutely love mine and live in them!
i have been looking for dungaree dress like that for so long!! there was one in topshop but i couldn't bring myself to buy it but was exactly what i loved! where was the one you showed from because im in love with it!!! xxxx
for the boots try vagabond! its a swedish brand! I got the same doc that you have but i wish they had a bit of a heel. The vagabond shoes are leather, look good, a little more pricey than doc by $10 or $20 but good quality. I have my eye on a pair right now I just need to get
Just a thought, I feel like you should be cautious with the phrase ”I need”. There’s a vast difference between need and wants, and tbh your ”I needs” sound like you want. I’m not pointing this out to be mean. I’m pointing this out because you have an influence on the people who watch you (and because global warming is a real issue and we should all consider what we really ”need”).
I created a quasi-capsule wardrobe to take with me as I've moved to Brighton last month from the US. I brought 2 suitcases with me (I wanted to bring a lot of sweaters bc I wear them often and they are my favorite article of clothing but they are bulky so 2 suitcases) and I am finding that most of the stuff I brought I haven't even worn because my washing machine here is sooo much smaller than the one I had back home, so I'm doing laundry more often and just cycling through my preferred outfits much faster. Also I had to bring pretty much everything that I will want for a full year of living here, including stuff that isn't in season. I find when the weather shifts from summer to autumn, I don't dress as femininely and I want to wear very different stuff, so that's another challenge.
Hey Lucy! In terms of boots, have you tried the Doctor Martens Chelsea Boots? Those are WAAAAY comfier than the classic style, and look absolutely gorgeous but still badass and chic.
I love Capsule wardrobe. But still work in progress. I learn the lessons every season, still making mistakes. This Autumn I’m not buying anything, hopefully I’ll be happy with my wardrobe.
Can I make a suggestion? If you happen to make another purchase again from a fast fashion store, washing it in a gentle cycle and then letting it air dry helps with it lasting longer! I have a few pieces from H&M or Zara and that helps. Also if you like sparkly things maybe add glittery earrings? If you own many monochromatic pieces, glittery earrings will go with almost all of your wardrobe (:
I have such a big aesthetical conflict when it comes to clothes. I am passionate about very different styles. But one thing I'm certain is that I've loved your style for about 2 years now. And that's the basis I wanna build a capsule wardrobe on aswell. My question is, if you read this, where do you buy knitwear / which materials to look forward. And if you believe its still worth it to invest in those, when I am currently very overweight and on a weight loss journey. Do they still make sense when they look loose? Should I wait till I'm at least medium sized?
I've not been buying a lot of fast fashion for the last few years, but I've found that I'm also not buying stuff when I need it because I really don't know where to find the stuff I want. I've been desperate to find a cardigan and nicer tops but I'm scared to pay a lot of money for something that's not necessarily better quality or more ethically made... any recommendations as to where to shop? I'm excited to keep up with this series!
Boiler suit - try Lucy and Yak, a small-ish company with good vibes and ethics. I have a pair of their dungarees and love them Jumpsuit - Honestly will rave about Monki jumpsuits ALL DAY LONG. They feel like pyjamas and I am all for that level of comfort
Silly question cause you've probably worn them quite a bit, but just in case - are your DMs properly broken in? Mine were hell for two weeks, a bit uncomfortable for another month and then they turned into the most comfy boots I own.
Really liked this and will try and do the same for my wardrobe. If you're looking for dungarees and and jumpsuits Lucy & Yak are a great ethical brand which do both. Thanks for sharing. Much love 😊 x
Hello lucky i know this video is about capsule wardrobe ! But please I just wanted to say something YOU are beautiful the way you are & your body is beautiful just the way it is if you love something just wear it who cares !! And i really appreciate your honesty but if you will do so & learn to love your body you will inspire a lot of the young ladies who follow you ,❤️ send you a lot of love & I’m sorry but I had to bring the light to this topic as u mentioned it several times 🙏
I need some fashion advice, maybe you guys can help! I wear a lot of burgundy red, black turtlenecks and dark green. And now I purchased some brown pieces in thrift shops and I'm wondering what to wear it with. With green I look like a human embodiment like a tree. Any other colour that goes well with it?
darker blue denim would look great with all of those colours, and I really like how light brown/tan and black look together :) And don't worry abut looking like a tree!
you could tuck that urban bodycon dress into some boyfriend jeans (make sure it’s not bunch-y around the waist and bum) and it becomes a really cute top!! that’s what i do sometimes, don’t sell it right away! x
I have just come across your channel...it was in my suggestions listing and I am so surprised by a few of your comments. You are a really good looking young girl with a size 10 figure and yet you say you have body dysmorphia and don't like showing your arms or wearing form fitting clothes. I am so sorry of you are coping with this distortion but rest assured that as a member of the international community who use you tube to research areas of interest, you look stunning to me and ought to feel really good in your skin. Please don't let the dysmorphia win out. Keep seeing your beauty as so many of us viewers do and delivering your good message on 'considered' clothes purchasing. I wish you the best..lovely lady.
jazbeesonmusic re-selling would sometimes be a more ethical way of recycling clothing. Sure, sometimes charity shops are able to sell the clothing but if not, they are shipped of to third world countries. Out of sight out of mind. The problem is that these countries are filled with our abandoned clothing. Huge piles of it. I think the problem goes by the name ”pepe”. It’s talked about in the true cost documentary.
@@melnatalks Yap. Clothing donations are also harmful for local business in developing countries. Good intentions don't always lead to better outcomes.
Ecco does great shoes, but you'd have to check how ethical they are because I do know they have 100% leather shoes. But they're fantastic quality shoes and I always get compliments on mine. They have an arched sole which is SO much more comfortable than the flat shoes you get nowadays. I've had eccos that have lasted me years.
lucy there are a couple of instagrams that i want to recommend to you: @fashrev and @slowfashionoctober. they are both doing important work against fast fashion and i think that a) you would really vibe with them and b) your audience would as well!
Here's the thing, I wish I could buy more ethical clothing. It's just SO expensive and most people can't afford it. WHICH IS WHY this is such a good idea, if I can't always buy ethically at least I can cut down the number of clothes I buy. Thanks Lucy xo
You’ve got this!!
I agree with you. It can be difficult so I try to buy from charity shops or on eBay
But buying second hand is so much cheaper than first hand/fast fashion! You just need to set aside a few hours to spend in your local thrift stores.
thrift stores and clothing swaps are the way to go! also another layer of this is mending/fixing older clothes to make them last longer!
You can also buy vintage/charity shop stuff.
You mentioned that a year ago, you were missing some wardrobe basics. Could you make a video of what you consider those wardrobe staples to be?
Could you please do a video about your jewelry! Like where you buy and what all you own and how you pair stuff!
Laura L yes!!
The inflection in your voice is so calming. Oh my lord.
Wow I love the way you edited in the mood boards!

Another tip is to always fold knitwear instead of hanging it in the wardrobe to avoid stretching and misshaping it.
I’ve also noticed that polyester and acrylic make me sweat a lot so I refuse to buy t-shirts or blouses made out of them.
I‘m not sure if you know them, but if you don’t: check out uniqlo, they have amazing knitwear made from cotton, bamboo, wool etc.
Rewatching and hoping for another curated fall wardrobe from you this year! I love seeing the way you choose and combine pieces.
Ugh I ADORE autumn! I find it's the season that most inspires fashion wise so I love videos like this!
I used to be really into the idea of building a capsule wardrobe; I would plan out all of the pieces I would want to wear, figure out what combo of clothes to put together...but whenever I went shopping I found I would get distracted and stray from my initial plans. Like 30mins ago, I was in the bathtub thinking: the only thing that would make this Sunday even better is a Lucy Moon vid. 🌙
I love your style and that grey jumper is so nice. I love how sustainable and good for the environment this system is and how it stops impulse buys.
I had a really hard time with finding a comfortable and nice looking pair of black ankle boots too! Finally found the dream pair this year - they're from Born and I found them on sale. Hope you find the right ones for you!
the mood board editing was so cool, and you look particularly stunning in this
It was really interesting to hear you explain the pieces that you were passing on. It's nice in way to hear that everyone has hang ups with their bodies or hold onto things that they'll never get use out of.
The bodycon dress is beautiful!

Just bought the new Nisolo black commuter booties and in love! Think you'd love them especially since you're interested in sustainable brands!

Hi Lucy, any tips on how to find your style and how to find things that fit your body type?
I know it's because you are ill and get better soon, but the cold makes your voice sound utterly stunning ^^
I just bought a boiler suit from Lucy and yak, I had to save for a while because it was 65 but it was worth it because of the quality and knowing that it is ethnically made
love the idea of a capsule wardrobe 🙌🏻
I was supposed to go out and get some jumpers bc I have none for winter and this really inspired me!

you can always buy second hand, its really great.
She wouldn’t know where to start. Ask someone who actually shops ethically 😉
Brightening up my evening as always! :)
Emily Farley Hey I would love it if you would subscribe to my channel, but only if you would like xx
I really appreciated that you were honest about the fact that certain items of clothing don't make you feel great. Because SAME! ethical boiler suits makes me think of Lucy & Yak 😍 I love your capsule wardrobe vids so much
when you have aquired what you want i need you to do a lookbook i wanna see how you style the pieces!!
If you’re looking for basic, well fitting shoes you should try the brand Vagabond. They have so many different basic styles that look super chic, but are still very comfortable!
Love your videos and I am really inspired to organise my wardrobe in this way!! Also I’m a size ten if you need to get rid of a bodycon dress :P xx
just last night I decided to fuck it and make my first capsule wardrobe! so helpful to see your process, thanks for taking the time to put this together for some of us that need inspiration. informative and artsy as always! 🙌
Love your style 😍
you always have the nicest wooly jumpers! where do you recommend for finding nice knitwear? x
Now that I think of it, I have to go though my closet, I just put inside everything from the last autumn/winter season inside and the other day I saw that some of my trousers are actually too big... So I have to check everything and probably buy smaller sizes..
I love this
As always, really enjoy your capsule wardrobe videos; I found your summary of the last year very useful especially seeing where you went wrong and the reasons for getting rid of those items. How have you always got the best earrings?!
Would love to see some looks created with your capsule wardrobe as inspiration!
Love your earings where did you get them?
I loved this :)

Loved it!
I legit have been waiting to see this vid
your really inspiring me to me but your absolutely gorgeous and trust me when you overcome your self consciousness of certain areas of your body you will realise how wrong you were you are gorgeous💗 also your clothes are all so gorgeous
In response to the simple boots you're looking for- check out Dr. Marten's 'Flora' boots! They might be too small of a heel for what you are looking for but I absolutely love mine and live in them!

you should check out ouigal for shoes! they have amazing boots and while they can be on the pricier side they are all made in italy and quite unique!
Great video, I love your style!

What happened to the black kånken? Isn’t that exactly what you’re looking for?
Can I make a suggestion?
If you happen to make another purchase again from a fast fashion store, washing it in a gentle cycle and then letting it air dry helps with it lasting longer! I have a few pieces from H&M or Zara and that helps.
Also if you like sparkly things maybe add glittery earrings? If you own many monochromatic pieces, glittery earrings will go with almost all of your wardrobe (:
Love Your Channel! 168 hours is fave, love your capsules too!!! x
Should I wait till I'm at least medium sized?
oh also are you doing a capsule jewellery/shoe/bag wardrobe also? Or just clothes?
Really enjoying the capsule wardrobe! Was just wondering if you could do a video on ethical and sustainable purchasing :)
always get excited on your uploads! looove you
cheers x
Bethan.... does she have a channel/blog where she reveals her secret to yesstyle shopping???
I've not been buying a lot of fast fashion for the last few years, but I've found that I'm also not buying stuff when I need it because I really don't know where to find the stuff I want. I've been desperate to find a cardigan and nicer tops but I'm scared to pay a lot of money for something that's not necessarily better quality or more ethically made... any recommendations as to where to shop? I'm excited to keep up with this series!
Yes Lucy!!! Also get better soon :))
I'm a size 10 and I adore that uo dress! Would you consider putting it on depop? 🤠
Thanks for this it inspires me to plan what I need to buy 💕 also what high street brands/reasonable brands would you suggest for quality/ethically? ☺️
Ezz.esme Fatface are probably the most ethical on the high street xx
Boiler suit - try Lucy and Yak, a small-ish company with good vibes and ethics. I have a pair of their dungarees and love them
Jumpsuit - Honestly will rave about Monki jumpsuits ALL DAY LONG.
Much love 😊 x
can't wait for the next video!! 😄 love your vids lucy
do you have a pinterest board we can follow?
Lucy & Yak have really nice boiler suits (ethical too) I want one myself haha xx
Any other colour that goes well with it?
darker blue denim would look great with all of those colours, and I really like how light brown/tan and black look together :) And don't worry abut looking like a tree!
you could tuck that urban bodycon dress into some boyfriend jeans (make sure it’s not bunch-y around the waist and bum) and it becomes a really cute top!! that’s what i do sometimes, don’t sell it right away! x
sheedah nHey I would love it if you would subscribe to my channel, but only if you would like xx
I love some of these pieces you’re donating to the charity shops, it’s a shame you’re not putting them on depop or something!
jazbeesonmusic re-selling would sometimes be a more ethical way of recycling clothing.
Hope you'll get well soon because I love your voice.
im so looking for a body con dress
Ecco does great shoes, but you'd have to check how ethical they are because I do know they have 100% leather shoes. But they're fantastic quality shoes and I always get compliments on mine. They have an arched sole which is SO much more comfortable than the flat shoes you get nowadays. I've had eccos that have lasted me years.
your voice is so soothing ❤️
lucy there are a couple of instagrams that i want to recommend to you: @fashrev and @slowfashionoctober. they are both doing important work against fast fashion and i think that a) you would really vibe with them and b) your audience would as well!
There is an article on Frankie magazine on how to break in doc martens, it might be worth giving it another shot..
Love these vids! I need to make capsule in the future - I have a massive buying problem! 😂 x
noooo not the jacket :( loved that jacket. But I get it.
