  • Sharks and rays are easy, reliable, and lots of fun to catch! They're some of the biggest and hardest fighting fish in the San Francisco Bay Area and they're very common too!

    Awesome video man this might just be The first time we’re noticing them but this year out of all the others we’ve seen a lot more dolphins everywhere

      Yeah, crazy how close they came to the pier at Fort Mason. I think most of the ones in the bay are harbor porpoises and they're pretty common

    Haha! “Did it break off??” Fooled by the crazy ray swimming at you! Fools me every time too. We caught one with a 45” wingspan yesterday. 20 minute fight. Almost spooled us. Thought he came off twice too. But no! Took us under the pier also but we finagled him out. Easily 60-80 lbs. Huge!

      Wow! I thought for sure it broke off, I think the line just snapped off of the rock it was stuck on.

    What does it mean when something is spooled?

    • @sf_angler
      @sf_angler  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching and subscribing! If a fish takes all of your line off of the reel, it's called "getting spooled". I only had a few yards left after the shark took its initial run!

      @@sf_angler sweet! Thanks for the reply! I'm just getting into fishing and have been taking buddies out to Pacifica pier while I get used to the ropes. Def appreciate all your videos and I gotta find a spot with pile worms soon, the recent shortage from the east coast has meant a lot less bites for me >

    Bro you think those guys are big, you should come fishing with us some time, we got some pretty good spots where the jumbos live :) great video!

      I've seen some of your catches, you guys get on some big ones! I don't target sharks and rays much, just put out a line sometimes while looking for other species. I'd definitely be down to meet up and get on some fish!

    • @sf_angler
      @sf_angler  ปีที่แล้ว

      A couple tiny ones, I have a video of one off a pier. Hoping to get a bigger one this winter

    stuck behind a rock? give it slack and let it swim away from the rock lol

    • @sf_angler
      @sf_angler  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Probably should have done that, but wasn't sure if it was a rock or if the ray was just sticking itself to the bottom as they often do. Thanks for watching!
